It would be nice to have a separate list rather than conflating games I don't want to see with games I already own.

Edit: Or just implement the method ESGST etc use to check DLC and other ownership.

On the link above you can hide games you own.

SteamGifts cannot detect DLCs and many other kinds of owned games.

Yes. DLCs and "Steam is learning" cannot be detected yet. The same happens with bundles and collections.

You can hide all games and DLC's that you win and the same with all games that you check and see that you own them.
Sure a bit work but the best you can do to lower the ammount of listed unwanted games/dlcs.

You BL me, did you know why ? I am curious.

People may dislike public explaining why they add someone to BL, so don't be surprised if this kind of question are ignored.

I am long enough at sg to know that not all will answer but it's a possibility to know the reason.
If he want tell it me more privat he can write at a old GA or my steam comments.

I am very relaxed with it, each one can do with his BL what they want but sometimes help the info why to look at the one or other thing.

And because i am a man of the direct words i prefer to question instant when i see such stuff. Better as to die dumb as we would say in germany :o)

You may be fine with not getting answer, but I saw users getting angry over it. So I will leave notes like that here and there to explain this to people.

Getting angry about a question ? o_O
If i understand it correct i would say they should go a bit out in the nature to calm down to a normal level and sit relaxed at the PC :o)

You can have both creators getting annoyed with questions "why I'm on BL, uwu", and people who ask and not getting answer. I saw both examples.

And sometimes when you're after stressful week and you missed the train home (30 min wait extra) - people may get triggered easily :P

ESGST will remove the enter button on DLC if you own it, but it's still kind of a pain. And ESGST doesn't work on mobile for me.

SteamAPI does not report majority of DLCs as owned, so there is no way for SG to know you have it on your account.

There is only one way to check if someone else owns particular DLC - add them to friends on Steam and try to gift this DLC. It will show "Mskotor already owns it" in friends tab during the gifting process. I don't know if it's how ESGST check if you own DLC, but it's not viable way to check DLC ownership for SG.

But "hidden" feature could make "Enter giveaway" button non-clickable in theory.

I'm not sure offhand how ESGST, barter.vg, etc check for owned DLC (and other games ST fails to detect as owned), but they definitely do it. Probably involves using the API key?

It will nor work, as barter uses this:

http://store.steampowered.com/dynamicstore/userdata/

It requires user to be logged into correct account when script gets data. And is basically like browsing the shop, only in plain text format.

SG uses general SteamAPI that is made available to all 3rd party sites.

Try to click link above when you're logged in, logged out, and (if you have any) logged in on Steam alt account - you will still be logged into SG with your account, but data retrieved through this page will be different in every case.

With "owned" list people may think they will be able to enter giveaways for DLC of games on this list. And it should not be allowed, we already have problem with people who can enter for DLCs while missing the base game.

I think it should be possible to add custom tags to game with ESGST or some other script? To tag games added there as "owned"

I know, but it would be just doubling "hide" feature, with only naming it differently.

It would be different if clicking on "already owned" button would not only hide it from the view, but also remove your entries from the giveaways.

If I could do it - I would, as it would make it bit easier to use the site :P

But it's on admin end, and if / when change like that is implemented depends on time they can spend on coding for SG.

Problem with hiding giveaways is that only indication you get is missing hide icon... Which is useless with private giveaways, or anytime you get a link...

I know. But that's what we have now :P "Hidden" hides only GAs on the main page. I think there was script that was putting "Hidden" on the "Enter giveaway" button.

Still, it's not something that we can change. Maybe admin will decide in the future it's important enough. But I personally think that there are way more important changes that would need to be done. Like dark theme :blobevil:

There are certain extenuating circumstances like when it comes to bundled games and DLCs, which prevent some parts from being labeled as "owned" automatically. The system isn't perfect. In case there is a situation a game isn't labeled due to such circumstances, you can already hide the game as suggested above.

Since the full title wasn't visible when I clicked it, I thought you wanted an "owned" button as a reaction to a really scathing comment. Very last decade or last-last decade, I don't know exactly what decade it is. I'm also clearly a bit behind on the current slang of da yoof.
