Hey guys,

I'm a person who likes to have all my games arranged in my steam library including those that are Non-Steam.
I carefully set grid images for each of em and set their names properly.

Now, here is the problem, sometimes when I start up Steam, All the Non-Steam games vanish and I have to add them manually again and again. This is the fourth time it happened this week.

So anybody know how I can set them permanently? Or is it just a glitch on account of steam? Do you guys also experience it?

For the TL;DR guys : Non-Steam games added to library keeping on vanishing from time to time... What do I do ?

Yeah, it happens from time to time. You can make a backup of "shortcuts.vdf" and restore it when it gets corrupted.

I can .. but ... adding games is not much of a task ... arranging them and adding custom images is the hard part.

If you don't move the files, and rename it as it was before, just restart Steam. It will put back your custom images.

I usually add the same files ....and I'm sure they're at the same path ... But they always end up with bad grid images and crumbled names ... Anyway I will give it a try thank you :3

Weird. It works for me for custom backgrounds and grid images.

It happened to me too. Also some games marked with "install..." while they're already installed. A recent update might be the cause.

I also had this problem a few days ago. It hasn't happened yet after I exit steam by clicking exit. Before I would just shutdown my pc.

If it's really a problem for you, you might wanna consider opting out of the beta for a while to see if that helps,
it wouldn't surprise me if the beta patches are the reason your library resets that often, since those patches are experimental in most cases.
If it still happens then at least it won't happen that frequently, since the beta updates almost daily.

-edit- Considering your post above this one it's likely that you're corrupting the related steam files

IM not enlisted into the Beta ... and yeah maybe its to do with the shutting down thing ...

My bad, didn't know that it's possible to join the steam trading card beta when you're not opted in for the steam beta.

It has only happened to me once, but I only had 2 non-steam games at that moment and I don't remember the circumstances.

Do the custom images disappear from the folder?
