pretty sure you both wont be able to play the game , at least for some of the uplay titles
at least if it was bought on steam

I guess as they provide a steam key they can't have a way to verify,
Alice Madness Returns added automatically on Origin, later I tried redeeming the steam code on the same account, it was succesful, tried again to redeem it on the same account and said code was already used.

I know that a UPlay key from a Steam game is linked, so I expect the same for what you have been offered.

I know that with some AC game ... it was showing you 2 instances of the game on your uPlay account .
1 was the uPlay key ... which would start the game trough uPlay , the other 1 was the Steam one which would run the steam version. ( even if you opened it trough the uPlay client )
You Could share that , and have 2 ppl play the same game at the same time ...
BUT i dont know if thats the case for some Multiplayer game atm >.<
Tbh id suggest asking on /r/steam .

If you buy from the ubi store, they auto-activate the game to your uplay account, and once that completes, send you a Steam key (for games that list in the store as having a Steam key for them).
Example- note the 'Activation' section on the lower right side.

What game is it? If it's a game that says "requires third party DRM - UPlay" then I think you will run into problems.

If it's two separate keys there shouldn't be an issue. Steam versions of Ubisoft games are different to games that are on Uplay only. For example, I have a copy of Assassin's Creed Unity on Steam and activated it on my Uplay account, despite the fact that I already have the Uplay version of AC Unity. Technically, they're separate games. So the Steam key should be separate to the Uplay one.
However for some Ubisoft games, it doesn't automatically activate, you receive a key after launching a the game. If that's the case and the key is the same as the already activated key then you will have issues. What game is it? Maybe I can tell you more if you tell me that.

So, I know (eg, Humble Origin bundles) allow for you to mix and match Origin and Steam keys as you please- if your friend activates the (Origin, Steam) key, then you can still activate the other one without issue, and there's no way to muck-up ownership for the other user.
But seeing as Steam-Uplay games still typically connect through Uplay's DRM, if someone is offering to gift me their Steam key for a game they already activated on uplay, would that cause any sort of issues with either user? Or would it function like Origin, where it's basically two separate copies of the same game?
