So the closed beta started yesterday. Has anyone already received an invitation and has first experiences?

I have been in the technical alpha since a week or so. Basically it comes down to Playnite with a better UI. Sadly at least the alpha client has so much bugs that you can hardly call it stable or a finished product.
That the beta already starts so soon worries me. There are close to a thousand (!) bug tickets still open from technical alpha.

Nathan Grayson from Kotaku.com is taking part in the beta and the other day he posted an article giving a little insight to it so far. Here's the full article for those interested in reading it.

Received the invite this morning, but it requires Windows 8+. I'll upgrade when 7 stops receiving support.
Comment has been collapsed.
Where are you getting the 8+ requirement from? It runs just fine on 7 which is what the website says the minimum is.

Gamespot made a nice video regarding this :

Since GOG is all caps (Good Old Games), pretty sure you're right. It's always been and still is Gee Oh Gee to me. XD.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a valid assumption, but both acronyms and initialisms are written out in all caps, and you cannot tell one from the other by the spelling alone. The former are pronounced as full-fledged words (e.g. NATO). The latter are pronounced letter by letter.
Maybe someone from the higher-ups on GOG could shed some light on the situation - but even then it's not all open and shut (people are still arguing over GIF, after all).

Maybe this answers it. Official video from GOG itself from a few years ago. (I went to look lol)

Apparently it's a Gamespot thing. YT showed me another video after that one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvnOXIiJrMw
He says "gog" too.
EDIT: The CDPR guy they interview in this video calls it both "gog" and "G O G" at various points.
EDIT 2: I've been told that pronouncing individual letters like that isn't a thing in Polish, so they would normally say "gog".

G O G started as Good Old Games, yes. When they are selling mostly older games. However, after they started to include recent/under developing/newly released games, they rebranded themselves as GOG. You can go to their official twitch channel and the partner streamers will all address it as GOG. Maybe similar to God? Personally, it sounds like Cog but most importantly, after play Heroes of Might and Magic III the Inferno Unit of Gog, I cant rid the image of an impish char off the word Gog. Hmm~

Got the invite today, finally. The poor thing has been importing my steam library for the good part of an hour and still not done XD
I still have yet to import origin, uplay, and epic. So at some point I'll be able to judge if this thing can actually manage thousands of games without dying.
Not sure what it does with all the repeated ones tho.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, that's been my reticence with using it more as well.
It does okay, but between my large Stream library and very old computer, the beta is struggling a bit. Hopefully it does better on newer computers (Win7 64, pre-i-series Intel PC here).
And still, I like it so far. Good integration with multiple services, clean interface. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

It does look pretty, I'll give it that. It's finally done with my steam library and it's already lagging when I try to scroll through so not sure of how bad it will get when everything gets added (also running win7 64bits and an aging i5).
It treats repeats like different entries, I was kinda hoping it would combine them somehow and give me the option to chose which version I want to play/install (playing once and getting achievements and cloud saves in all clients sounds tempting).

I received my invite weeks ago but after hype died off. Yesterday, I've finally installed the Client. Everything works fine except certain Steam games does not have an image.
I am not able to ignore games on Steam after synchronizing with GOG Galaxy 2.0 anyone with similar experience? Error msg of "Ignore App Error"? Cheers~
Comment has been collapsed.
YES! I just noticed it too. Thank you so much. I had been a torture for me, I enjoy looking at the Steam Queues but unable to Ignore games, I had to avoid them although I've been looking at the queues almost daily. I did spent more time on gaming tho, just for 'distraction' ;D Thank you once more. Cheers, Cruse~

What are those games for example, which launcher were they from? I've only added Steam and Uplay for now, although I have yet tracked if all the games are present but around 600+ games together, I think that's pretty accurate. What I like about the launcher is the ability to search by genre which is great compared to Steam imo.

Rexaura
Thinking with Time Machine
Portal Moondust
Estranged Act I
Dreadout: Keepers of The Dark
Sam and Max 104
It shows Wallpaper Engine, but not ShareX, FPSVR, or Borderless Gaming
My library is over 1400 so It takes a while for me to notice things that are missing, I'm sure there's more.
I would love the genre tag, if it wasn't so inconsistent and garbage.
For Point and Click, it lists The Room 1, and 3, but not 2. It lists Sam and Max 101, 102. 103,105, 106, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205. Missing 104 and 301-305.
It lists Telltale's the walking dead, but not Tales from the Borderlands, Back To The Future, Rusty Lake Paradise, Deponia,or Distraint.
Rhythm doesn't list Muse Dash, Super Hexagon, or Shapes and Beats
There is no VR genre. There is no visual novel genre.
Deus Ex and L.A. Noire show up in Sports.Oh and Undertale is a shooter now.
Then a lot of games are missing pictures, or the pictures they have are TERRIBLY cropped and you can't even read the title.
For a lot of the pictures, especially visual novels, the pictures have PS4 or PSVITA on them.

I see, that is valid. Btw there's no Sam and Max 104 in my Steam Library either so that's not a GOG error I guess. It'll be great if you had file in the words you mention here in their forum.
I still enjoy the genre tag since its not easy tagging thousands of games out there, I'll give them time. Its still better than not having any.
1 aspect I thought was missing was categorizing the games. I was going to write in to them till I notice that you tag the games like in Steam, then you go to All games, games will be sort by the tags and if you do not want to see your completed games just minimize it. Its pretty much what I was looking for. What I need is the ability to move them up and down but I probably can work around it by renaming the tags since they are in Alpha numeric order.
What's great is that often I had to go check and look around if I had a certain game on a platform but not certain so I won't be entering the game here. I know there are other such clients out there but for now I stick with GOG and hopefully start playing games more on GOG. :D
Cheers~

It is a GoG error. Sam and Max 104 is free to download, and it's in my library, so GoG should catch it.
I still like GoG G2, and hope future updates can improve things.
I wish there was a way to croudsource some of these things. I'd gladly help tag things / find pictures.

I do not have 104 displayed in my Steam Library nor had I played it so I do not know if it should be reflected in GOG's Library but I'll take your word for it.
You could and I recommend that you should go to the Official Galaxy 2.0 forum to suggest or list your concerns I'm pretty sure the staff will read the forum. :)

So, does it work better than the Corsair Game Launcher Launcher?

Some of those game titles and thumbnails around 1m10 and beyond are hilarious.

There's an unofficial plugin that pulls most of the games on it, none of the older titles though (ie, Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft 3)

GOG, XBox, PSN, Epic, Origin, Steam, Uplay. Although when selecting the game you play, it'll launch their individual launchers. Thing about this client is that you can easily view, group, categorize all your games under 1 client so you know the games you have on hand. GOG is owned by CDProject which own CDProject Red, the makers of Witcher series and Cyberpunk. I have more trust in GOG than in Epic.
Warm Regards and Cheers~

My comment with Eremeir above mentioned several Steam games not found in their Galaxy 2.0 library. Its pretty minor tho imo.
I just added my Xbox account. I've only had 1 game there; Gears of War 4 which I hasn't played it yet. I also just created an Xbox account after realising I do not have one although I have a Microsoft Store account. Therefore, I am not sure if the game is not registering because my account is new or its just not listed by Galaxy. In due time I might make a report to them. :)

You mean a list of games that have achievements on GOG? Then this should help: https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=popularity&feature=achievements

i've been using gog galaxy since some weeks now and i'm liking it.
it's somehow "privacy intrusive", in the fact that once you sync your different accounts, the data are stored in gog server, so all your gaming history in several platforms is at them, but it's not a big issue for me.
i like to have the pc (through many platforms) and the ps4 game history altogether in one place.
new plugins are at work, even if i didn't manually install them. relevant to me are the twitch and humble plugin.
it would be nice if they made also a google play games plugin to integrate the game history.
i'd like to have a longer buddy list, but just a few previous friends from steam populated it so far.
i have to admit that gog gained ALOT to my eyes with the V2 client.

They apparently play on their existing strengths, known name, drm-free, privacy respect, no spying on you... to get ahead of existing competition like playnite (which is free/open-source, btw, but some are not)...
TBH, I find the existing Galaxy client a bit confusing, but it does work when you get used to it's ways. This upgrade might be a good thing.
