Looks a lot better than the original, and will have all the dlc plus Liberation remastered yada yada...
Wondering why they're not remastering the Ezio Auditore arc (Assassins Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations). or even Assassin's Creed 1. Both are better games IMO.

Then again I love Ezio so much I guess I'm just nitpicking

Which Assassins Creed would you like remastered?

Assassins Creed? What's that?
Ezio only & forever
Anyone, I don't care...as long as I get it for free
All of them, wait I was joking...None!
Just bring back Desmond please

It'd generate the most revenue with the least amount of investment(in time, money and manpower).

Whenever you question a decision about a game, think about the busines side not the "gaming" side. If it doesn't make sense in both sides, the devs are morons and you should feel free to bash them with your reviews.

I get what you mean with all that gathering Intel but on the other hand it was the only part that lets you plan your assassinations yourself (with very limited possibilities compared to later games or even Hitman S1) instead of the game deciding for you.

If anything, they should remaster the first AC game since that's the only one that's actually aged badly.

Ezio stuff doesn't need remastering and neither does AC3. AC3 needs a remake if anything. Though, as someone who literally beat AC3 and its DLC a week ago, I'd say let that game be. Patch it instead. It still looks great and the animations/gameplay mechanics are smooth. The glitches are annoying as hell though.

You bring up a very good point. There's a ton of spin-offs and side-games that the vast majority of the fanbase haven't played and a very considerable (probably a majority as well) that haven't even heard of these games.

These should be remastered/remade, not the mainline games that are still really modern. The first game came out in 2007, after all. Sure, graphics have evolved, but there hasn't been anything to revolutionize things. Not in the franchise at least. Sure, gameplay has had some tweaks and new features, but it's not like AC1 would have a sea combat module or something :D

DS / mobile ports (Altaïr's Chronicles and Discovery) would also be nice, given the mobile versions were removed from the app store years ago. The PSP version I just bring up because there really isn't much difference from the main games beyond limits placed by the weaker hardware. Treating it as a DLC campaign would be fitting.

Although I could probably just play the ones I already own. My backlog is horrible.

I agree with this article, particularly when it says

No single game will ever be worth the trade-off in security and privacy

It basically means no client-side anti-cheat at all, though. Not just PB. So... pretty much no multiplayer, apart from games where client-side cheats can be fully countered by server-side countermeasures (card games and board games come to mind)

Battleye is better--by far--than punkbuster. If I'm concerned about privacy, I just monitor what programs are open whilst battleye is open.

Also, you can play Arma 3 without Battleye, just not on most MP-servers. I had played a couple hundred hours in Arma 3 before I joined my first MP game, and during that time--except for testing purposes, I never turned Battleye on. I can see the process in task manager, and when it is not selected in the A3 launcher, it does not open. Within 1 minute (really 30 seconds) of closing Arma 3, the process stops.
Also, Battleye--AFAIK--only scans currently running programs. A bit of care keeps bank statements/Quicken/etc from being open at the same time as Battleye. 😎

Also, NFS Undercover's Steam EULA has removed mention of Punkbuster since the last time I looked (when it did, in fact, include the Punkbuster EULA). What this means? Idk, but I hope.

The fact that Punkbuster runs on installation and immediately scans your PC has me unhappy with them, and utterly unwilling to install it. It means I couldn't install the game, delete Punkbuster, and enjoy the game minus the MP aspects of it (which I probably wouldn't use anyway); thus preventing PB from running at all.

It's because The Ezio trilogy (and the first Assassin's Creed) just won't do with a simple graphical remaster, like they're doing with 3. The Ezio trilogy is way more outdated than most people remember, and just pale in comparison to newer games in terms of gameplay. They would actually have to do some work with those and remake them, Resident Evil 2 style, and not just remaster. But of course, this is Ubisoft we're talking about, so unless Epic pays them two thousand trucks of cash for their work (and exclusivity), they're not gonna bother, and are gonna go the ez cash route, remaster style.

Absolutely. People tend to look at the early Assassins Creed heavily through the nostalgia goggles and forget how barebones and outdated they would be if you played them nowadays having played the later games.

Ezio Trilopgy would need deep improvements in AI, controlls and many things. While AC3 had nailed it already. And the story is actually better in third release. Ezio is great character, but is also greatly overrated. He is cool, but come on...

Some will say Pokemon Red is still the best game... I would say, nope. That's how nostalgia works. People are remembering things differently than they are in reality. Ezio was cool, but that's all.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'd say Ezio is still the best character from the AC franchise, and his trilogy is the highest point in the franchise both in terms of story and gameplay (relative to the time of release). I don't really like the the direction of Origins and Odyssey, but something with the graphical and gameplay fidelity of AC Unity would do wonders for an Ezio trilogy remake. Moving around can be a little rough in Unity, but with just a little polish it would be fantastic.

You're right in saying people remember the Ezio trilogy with nostalgia glasses, but that's mostly for the gameplay and maybe the graphics I would say. The characters and the plot of those games is still amazing.

Comment has been collapsed.

I can't say he isn't. Cause he is my fave in pre-present times. I still prefer more only one assassin - Desmond. But the problem here is, people hate Connor for not being Ezio. I mean, Connor isn't interesting, but isn't that bad either.
And because of lack of Ezio, people don't like AC3. It was directly after the last Ezio game. Like Ubisoft changed. People then were used to no Ezio in Black Flag and the rest.

I actually don't know why people don't like third relese. I think, mechanically it's perfect... almost. It has beautiful world. And You have balanced gameplay from being in cities, nature and sea. The plot is good, characters are convincing and interesting. Story is just nice. So what to hate here?

Also I feel like AC2 is pretty dumb. I mean gameplay. I have many issues, Ezio's AI is stupid. Revelations and Brotherhood were grinder games. Yeah, AC2 had economics too, but it wasn't about expanding whole world's shops. Just Your villa's.

I haven't play anything after third installment and I've seen Black Flag only a bit, and Odyssey even less. Rest are unknown to me. But I heard they changed so many basics.

The world of AC2 is beautiful. Ezio is very interesting. Problem is that the gameplay/mechanic itself isn't good part of this game. And Brotherhood/Revelations are both better and worse at the same time. Cause it had more issues and more features. Maybe ground remake would fix that. But it would need to be more than just 4K HD remaster with HDR and few minor fixes. They would need to compeltely write AI and many mechanics from the scratch. And this would require more than just a little while. Cause AC3 remaster was easier to do than whole trilogy's remake. Cause the games are bigger, I think, there is three of them and remake is more than remaster. I enjoyed any AC game I've played. But AC3 is the most balanced in that matter. What I mean is, the game is neither boring, or has major issues. I actually... give AC2, BH and Rev negative reviews because of issues, even though I enjoyed the game, cause I was annoyed even more than I enjoyed it. What is worse than random crash of the game? Maybe... random crash of the game in the 15-minutes credits after 10 minutes unskippable waiting? This is one of the thing... I think Revelations served me. Or Brotherhood. Desmon in "coma" was in Rev?
As I said, I enjoyed those games... but if the stability of it, mechanics and other issues wasn't a problem... I wouldn't be annoyed that much. I was annoyed by some stupid things in AC3 too, but it was single things. Mainly impossible optional objectives. I mean... they were quite easy... but not when You needed to to them at the same time. It was in two cases. While I had tons of issues in every Ezio game.

That's why for me AC3 is way better. Maybe... maybe if they would make remake removing those issues, I would enjoy AC2 more. Who knows?

So it seems a big part of why you don't like the Ezio trilogy is because of the awful pc ports. Those are some atrocious ports. But hey, I like AC 3 as well. I had plenty of fun playing it. I also agree that having one assassin is best. To me, killing Desmond at the end of AC 3 was the biggest shot in the foot they could've done to the franchise. I still don't understand the reason behind that, and every AC after that has had mediocre plot, in big part because of it.

No, it doesn't. It's pretty biased video by some hater. Probably some guy who don't like any kind of remasters, remakes etc and blindfully hate them all.
Actually it was also seen in his own video. he showed two versions of the games. One was better, than the other. The better one was remastered version. But the guy cherry picked the worst screenshot to compare old and new one, as a prove that the new one is worse. While the whole video was the proof that it's opposite.

And yeah. The main change is adding HDR I beliebe and 4K textures. So, basically I don't know what people want to have here. it's mainly about the lighting. it's not remake to have changed everything. But it also make mechanics slightly better.

Why they don't they remaster AC1 and Ezio Collection?
First, AC1 is poor game. Repeatable missions. Boring. It's not that bad, but should be way better.
Second, Ezio is overrated. And I'm saying this as his fan. The games had also many issues and were about grinding. Ezio's AI is also more stupid every game. So from being dumb, he became retard in Revelations.
Third, AC3 is underrated and unappreciated game. The best mechanics so far. Main problem with Connor is... he is not Ezio. However I don't really like or dislike Connor. But the game itself is way better than AC2, BH and Rev.

I don't get why people don't see AC3 as a good game. It's great. Do You have issues with the historic events or what? Cause the plot and mechanics was superb to previous titles. Also skinning animals is so satisfying, jumping from tree to tree also. This game needs more love. Cause Ezio games are already overpopular, while third installment is unfortunatelly not appreciated enough.

I like AC2 because of Ezio not plot or mechanics. Its rare that game developers take the time to slow cook a character thoroughly and make you understand why he is the way he is, to watch him learn and grow, celebrate each victory and mourn every loss. Every other AC game character is empty in comparison because they were not fleshed out properly...Its hard to do that in a single installment.
Well developed characters like Ezio Auditore, Raziel, Soap McTavish, Niko Bellic, The Prince or Handsome Jack are not easily forgotten, and make you actually want to play the game to see how their story unfolds...this is where plot and gameplay kick in.

It's not rare. He got three games for himself. Three full games.
Also Ezio Trilogy had the most issues so far. I've played till AC3, including it. But all games with Ezio, who is of course the best assassin (except Desmond!), are just done mechanically bad. While the locations were great, characters were great, gameplay wasn't. And that's what should be the first to rate game for.

I prefer CJ over Nico, IMO he is more memorable.
And Handsome Jack is here because he was absolute asshole. We know Hitler because he was asshole too. If they wasn't, we didn't know them probably. And You said this Yourself. Ezio got more spotlight. It's obvious that he developed more.

Still, I like Ezio, but AC2, BH and Rev had too many issues to fully enjoy the game.

I wanted to check if there is remastered version in the store already, so I searched "Assassin's Creed 3" and then with "III". I couldn't find anything but DLC's and other installments.

This is how the search looks like. No base game at all.
I got changed colors because of Augmented Steam addon (yellow - have, red - want).

Btw, I have a question... What does Season Pass for AC3 contains? If I have all other DLC's, do I have to buy SP too?
And does Deluxe Edition for Black Flag contains all DLC's? Cause I bought that version but all DLC's are not listed as owned...

Btw, I have a question... What does Season Pass for AC3 contains?

It's been a while since I played AC3 so don't take my word on it but if you have all 3 episodes of Tyranny of King Washington you have all the DLC that matters.

There are 2 more DLC for AC3 included in the SP: The Hidden Secrets Pack & The Battle Hardened Pack

Hidden secrets is single player. It has 3 new missions (which are ok but a bit lackluster), new weapons (more like weapon variants) and 2 new outfits for Connor.

Battle Hardened Pack is just multiplayer content which I assume is more or less dead by now.

So that's what I thought. They just list SP for some unknown reason alone. I own both Hidden Secrets and Battle Hardened Packs. I even have them listed as owned, yet SP not. Thanks!

That's why I hate DLC's... they are always making mess and confusion. You never know if You have everything or not. Not even with Season Pass, which were meant to include all DLC's that will ever exist, but devs changed it to few SP in some cases or just making just a few DLC's, and rest You have to buy separately. Well... At least I know I have everything from AC3.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it's quite annoying when they do that (and a lot of games do), specially when Steam doesn't recognize the individual DLC as owned.

The Handsome Jack Collection is one of the few positve examples where Steam recognizes ever single DLC as owned on the Store page.

Comment has been collapsed.

I played AC2, BH, Re and then AC3 one after another, and never got any issues with third game.

And if the problem is about FPS, it's Wooden PC.People say that even such games as Crysis are so requiring, yet even very old PC should run this game. So... for me "bad FPS" is not an argument at all. Cause people complain that they can't run any game. So what PC's they use? Regular PC for gamers would run every single new game for 5 years on ultra. NEW games. So if people can't run so old one... it's their fault they didn't get good PC. And it's not really that expensive. It's like 800$ in my country and I've seen that regular prices in $ are lower than what I have in my country. So USA would buy the same PC I bought cheaper. Of course I mean PC 4-5 years ago. So if they bought PC for 600$ 4 years ago, they would got decent desktop that wouldn't have problem. And today? The prices dropped down so drastically... so maybe 300$ for such PC. Cause all the hardware is already very old.
There are 4 types of gamers:

  1. Those who pay way more than needed
  2. Those who paynot too much for best experience
  3. Those who buy Wooden PC and complain about FPS in old games
  4. Those who own Potato PC and cant' run even a Crysis

I'm sure that the problem is not about the PC, because i have a good one for AC 3 for sure, like the others who says that can't boost their FPS... even switching from Black Flag which is newer than 3, the FPS is low than it, so it means that the problem is not from the PC... And i'm saying FPS, but the real problem is when you play Boston, the camera when looking around, but its my opinion, maybe in your case there wasn't any problem i don't know...
