I just completed Dirt 3 and I wanted to try multiplayer, but there doesn't seem to be anyone playing. I got into a couple races with 1 other person, but it is pretty dead.

Anyone else playing? Maybe we can get a group of SG members together and race eachother.

Wouldnt it be better you just ask in the dirt 3 steam forum?

I don't know, I never thought to check there. It would be fun to race other SG members though.

That´s odd, usually the online lobby was quite populated (last time i played was in october) with people joining left & right when i forgot to set server to private. It was mostly brits as far as i can tell, maybe try their evening hours? =)

Do you know if the game uses regions? I'm in the US and I read something about there not being many players in the US and that if you switch your download region in Steam to the UK it will put you on their servers which have a lot more players. I tried, but it still seemed dead. Not sure if it actually switched my region though.

Edit: I have confirmed that changing your Steam download location does change the Dirt server you connect to. I just got onto a UK server with a bunch of players.

Sounds reasonable enough, because i´ve mostly heard frenchies, brits and germans over the Dirt3 voip.

I took a look real quick going for Jam Session / Quick Match and it found one in under a minute:

edit: Oh, little late ... hooray to your success! =)

I did notice that there are more people in jam session. I was going into pro and couldn't find anyone in any of the categories.

Was´nt pro restricting all the driving aids and external cams? I remember getting a cheevo of sorts..
Many keyboard drivers around in Dirt3*, i don´t think you´ll be lucky with that mode unless playing against friends.

*funnily enough the hardest competition im getting in friends races is from a keyboard driver, we´re often joking how he´s gotta be doing around 50 keystrokes per second to keep up, but hot damn he does! lol :D

I think that is one race category in pro, I forget what it is called. I did play a driver cam only race with no assists recently with a few people and did pretty good. I play with a wheel and petals and with ABS as the only assist. It's hard to get use to no ABS, but it's not too bad.

I´ve found Dirt3 to be totally wheel unworthy as it did´nt give me any benefits to driving with a pad. The game depends too much on quick repeated movements, using my (oooold) FFB wheel i´d have to literally rip my table apart trying to get anywhere near close to pad driving times, whilst not getting any feasible FFB in return.

Maybe it´s just my old Formula Force GP wheels fault though :p

I use to have that wheel, now I am using a Logitech Driving Force GT which is decent. It's a 900 degree wheel and I have it on 540 which means I almost never go to full lock. I figured I would get better times if I turned it down, but I never did, I should probably drop it to 360. I don't like to reverse direction real quick and beat on the force feedback because it feels like I will break it, so I just try to drive smoother, I'm sure it hurts my times. I turn the FF off in Gymkhana and drifting so I can be quicker without destroying the wheel, but I like it on when racing.

I just had my best race and then all 3 other players quit before the second round started. It was assists off and everything else available. Somehow I finished about 15 seconds ahead of 2nd place. It felt great and then everyone left :(

I wonder if there are hackers and they thought I was cheating, I'm not that good. There could of been someone crashing into them, but they didn't look damaged when they finished and they didn't finish in a group.

As i´ve said, keyboard drivers :p

I´d happily join a SG groups racing league if there´d ever be one. No quitting, no hitting, etc.
