So I played this game manually for quite a while early on today, reaching around Level 4, and noticed that the repetitiveness of it starts to give you hand cramps very quickly.

But anyways I was curious to see if it's possible, and technically it is but not advisable.

  • To reach Level 9 and get Level 3 Badge you need 450,000 points
  • Max points are around 2360 on Threat Level 3
  • You need around 2-3 clicks/keypresses a second for 2 minutes to get the 2k+ points
  • We will say you spread this around 14 days of the sale
  • Additional time, 10 seconds or so between rounds
  • 450000 / 2360 = 191 games
  • 191 games * 120 seconds = 22920 seconds / 60 = 382 minutes / 60 = 6.37 hours
  • 22920 seconds * 2.5 clicks = 57300 total
  • Around 32 minutes extra between rounds in total
  • At the very least 7 hours 9 minutes of time to reach Level 3 manually, but this assuming near perfection
  • 22920 / 14 = 1637.14 seconds of clicking each day * 2.5 = 4092 clicks in 27.3 minutes per each day for 14 days straight

It seems a bit insane and possibly dangerous? I think Valve should consider that some kids might actually play this game manually and it seems a bit dangerous to click this much. They need to add autofire at the very least.

Correct me if my math is wrong.

I cross-posted this on reddit as well.

EDIT: combatbeard has asked for people to choose S.Gifts as their default group.

"If people don't choose a group to represent it will default to Steam Universe group which is why they are leading on most tiles. We had the lead on one tile earlier but we don't have the numbers atm."

It's made for bot, or rapid click macros NOT for humans, STEAM know how internet people works.

That's probably true, that automated play was assumed and it's incredibly easy to do with web console with zero detection or penalty.

But I just think the game requires far too many clicks than most games to play and I'm sure there will be some people playing it manually. Even to just play the first few levels for an hour or so, is already potential for some minor hand injuries.

I think devs should of considered that it's not a good idea? Adding an autofire mode, would make sense in this case.

For badge you need to play the game either manually or through automation, but to get into the game draw (contest) you can just sit in a lobby of the planet without even playing and you will have a chance. The longer you spend on a specific planet the higher your chance apparently.

Playing doesn't influence your chance, it just completes zones faster.

no, i mean that if you go in the level and don't do anything, you still gain exp. If badges are linked to character's level, then I don't think it matters how you gain that exp

Yeah true, good point, just tried it without doing anything. BUT you don't gain the max score if you do nothing, I think you get a max of around 1180 points per each game on high if you do nothing, will take you twice as long if not longer. This is because you earn no points while repairing, once you get damaged.

yeah, exactly, you take much longer levelling up like that, so I have to wonder if it's still enough to reach the highest (badge) lv

My current estimate based on pure guess work is that it's at least 4.8 million xp for level 12 (assuming a badge at level 10 and every level after and a doubling of xp each level) would take 66 hours of perfect games to reach. We already know that level 10 is 1.2 million xp and takes 16.6 hours of 500 perfect 2400 xp scored games 0_o

The score adds up a bit longer than once per second so the final score is less than "(each time points added)*120"

A perfect low threat wave (Lv 1 easy) gives 585 points with 76 enemies.
A perfect medium threat wave (Lv 2 normal) 1170 points with 104 enemies.
A perfect high threat wave (Lv 3 hard) gives 2340 points with 144 enemies.
All stats are checked and confirmed with Lv7 Salien without a single mouse click.

It is possible to beat high threat perfectly without any clicks but first you need the 4th ability (unlocks at Lv7 Salien).

Interesting analysis. But you first need to do all the clicks to Level 7 and then you will need play for days to reach higher levels.

For example from Level 10 to Level 11 is 2.4 million xp, so you need 1.2 million from 10 to 11 alone, 500 games or 16.6 hours And 10 doesn't even give you a badge level, so you are still on badge rank 3. Not to mention you need 16.6 hours of perfect 2400 games from level 1 to 10 and then repeat that from 10 to 11.

Total = 33.3 hours to reach level 11, and this is assuming no delays and perfect 2400 score games, which we know is impossible. Manually it would probably take like 40 hours.

Also if you decide to simply not play, but start up hard games every 2 minutes manually you typically get a bit under 1200 xp (1160-1180 xp is what I normally see) due to repairing which means this will double your time.

Score might depend on browser and CPU? I think steam client is slower compared to a faster browser perhaps?

I just got 1260 idling in Firefox for example: https://i.imgur.com/6ElRyso.jpg
1060 in Steam: https://i.imgur.com/1PO7cjI.jpg

CPU is a Ryzen 1700 @ 3.7GHz.

I think the way timers work in javascript you will end up with different scores + some luck on the lanes and spawns and how they hit you as well.

Well if you don't want to cheat for an advantage, you could always setup an autoclicker with realistic speeds to at least save your hand/mouse, so it's only mildly cheating, lol. A simple way to do this would be to get AutoHotKey.

https://autohotkey.com/

Once installed, right click your desktop and select New > AutoHotKey Script. Name the script, then right click it and select Edit Script to open in notepad, or Edit with Notepad++ if you have it. Then simply add the script I posted below, beneath the writing already present in the file.

~$LButton::
    While GetKeyState("LButton", "P"){
        Click
        Sleep 100  ;  milliseconds
    }
return

Make sure to save your edit, then double click the script to run it. Now all you have to do is hold down left click to auto fire. Do keep in mind, you need to exit the script when you want auto fire function to stop.

Now where it says Sleep 100 is how much time there is between clicks in milliseconds. at 1000 ms per second, that would be 10 clicks per second. Now if you want to test your speed to create an accurate setting...

Never play clicker games manually (steam ones or otherwise), you will most likely hurt your hands. If you want to play the game I recommend using an autoclicker, you can find a number of scripts, or get a free app off the interwebs
I've personally tried Easy Autoclicker which I got from sourceforge, it's simple and does the job

As for Valve being dildos; we all know that by now. They shouldn't be posting clicker games like this, I would have expected them to realize after their previous clicker sale game that some people could hurt themselves - I used cripts on that one but I'm sure there were people playing it manually. But nope, Valve never learns, and they put out another clicker game.

Comment has been collapsed.

Autoclicker might not even be enough, I did more calculations based on assumptions. If the game reaches level 12 and requires like 2000 games (4.8 million score). You need 66 hours of perfect 2400 score games, without considering any delay.

My guess is that they might add some extra items or something, seem pretty insane if something like this is true.

No one has reached level 10 yet, which needs 1.2 million score or 16.6 hours of perfect games.

Use Tampermonkey with this script:

https://github.com/meepen/salien-bot/blob/master/index.user.js

You can add these lines of code at the beginning of the script to:

  • not make the ennemies appear :

    CEnemyManager.prototype.BuildEnemy = function(){};

  • have no cooldown on the weapons (if you want to play it)

    CCooldownHandler.prototype.BAttack = function() {
    return true;
    }

6 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually, it seems that you can simply enter

CEnemy.prototype.Walk = function(){this.Die(true);};

to make them die as soon as they enter the screen... But the script is still useful to automatically enter stages

Thanks.
I don'T know if that is a problem with the script or with chrome, but it seems after a Level is finished i need to click on "continue" and select a new (or the same zone) from hand.
Do you know how to make the script to manually select a zone and play by it self?

Edit:
Ah, well i forgot to change the language to English.
Now everything works as it should be.
Thanks for the script/link!

That script works pretty well, thanks. I just wonder is it safe to use? It basically gives 2400 points per round by applying some hack, which is not just automation but cheating badly. I'm don't want to get VAC banned for a stupid clicker game.

600 with the script linked above? That's strange ... it automatically gives me the maximum 2400 points each round.

EDIT: Now I know why, it depends on the planet. If there's no more tiles with "high" threatlevel, the script picks a medium one (1200 max), failing even that, it picks a low one (600 max).

SteamDB offers offline scripts that will auto-select optimal zones for you and doesn't chew up clock cycles

Btw for the PHP script at least to run it you need to specify "php cheat.php token.txt" from CMD running from the php directory. The script will need to be edited if you don't want to play under their banner.

By the way, fun fact:
Assuming there are around 4 million contestants per planet (which may be a high estimate or a low estimate considering that there are around 16 million accounts currently online),
and knowing that there are 400 copies given away per planet,
roughly the odds are 1 in 10.000. So quite worse than most GAs on SG.
