There's many games I have played but also many I haven't so i am looking for some ideas on which ones i can play next. I do love indies and am less of a fan of AAA or big company branded games. Although, there are some that I do like. Many of my favorite genres/styles of game include Metroidvania, Roguelike/lites, Action rpgs, Farming sims(such as Stardew). But am open to other considerations but I do avoid MOBA and RTS most definitely. Appreciate any input given and have a great weekend.

I'm having a great time with Spelunky 2, since you like roguelikes you may enjoy if you haven't played it yet

I tried Spelunky 1 and just couldn't get into it. Would you say its more enjoyable?

2 has much more content and is harder, I don't think you will enjoy it if you didn't like 1 tho, they are very similar

i loved rogue legacy as well.. there's a sequel released in early access back in august. the latest patch says v0.1.2a so it's still pretty early, reviews say there isn't much content but it still has an 80% positive rating so far. unfortunately, it seems like the last update was back on august 25th, or at least that's the last time they posted patch notes on their steam hub. i'm hoping it doesn't die in early access because i really enjoyed the first game.

I have played Ori and the blind forest, graveyard keeper and blasphemous.
I wasn't a big fan of Blasphemous as i got bored of it, I enjoyed Ori and Graveyard keeper just was too much waiting for me.
Tried Iconoclasts and it didn't really interest me. Have littlewood and secrets of grindea and waiting for both to exit EA.
Tried Yakuza and despised the combat.

I love Stardew Valley like everyone else. In this type of graphics, i would recommend Graveyard Keeper. At the end of the month, a new dlc is coming, and i'm sure there will be a discount either because of it or because of Halloween.

Not sure why you abandoned it but get back to the Nuclear Throne, On the surface it might look overly simplistic but in reality it is so surprisingly deep and rich! It is frustrating but fair and the game design is just top notch!

I can also recommend OneShot – but do not read anything about it. Avoid spoilers at all cost. Just give it a try and finish it, you won't be disappointed. At one point the emotional tension was so high I had to quit the game and give myself a one-day-break.

Not a big fan of puzzles but if i ever get it, I'll try it .

I think i just kept trying Nuclear Throne and kept hitting a wall and finally just had to quit.

Maybe reconsider getting back into Cat Quest?
Mistress of Maids: First Castle f2p demo so it's short but fun, no sound/music at all however

How about one of the most liked game you like? Deep Rock Galactic. Based on his/her top played games he loves MP-Coop games.

It's a good game, but I figured since he gave up on Payday 2, he would give up on DRG as well.

Yes i tried Deep rock on a free weekend, i liked it but don't think i would want to keep going back to it.
Bright memory looks interesting, will have to keep an eye on it.
The other 2 really wouldn't appeal to me and my thing with Cat Quest is it was a basically level up and just do the same thing over and over which after hours of doing it, kind of just lost any drive to keep going.

Bright Memory is interesting and packed with fun moments, but keep in mind it's short, only 40 minutes to beat it. It was made to fund the sequel Bright Memory Infinite which should be longer.

Games that you have:
You could re-play CrossCode now that it's out of Beta and has achievements. ;)

GOD EATER RESURRECTION (why do they write it in all caps?) is probably really good (I've played the sequel, but it looks like they haven't really changed much between games). It's kinda like Monster Hunter, except more Anime.

If you liked Darkest Dungeon, then chances are you'll probably like XCOM: Enemy Unknown too. ^_^

You have a bunch of playtime in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, but no achievements, so if that was card idling time, I highly recommend checking it out for real. It's a veeeery funny (turn-based) JRPG.

Someone else already mentioned it, but I'll throw in another recommendation for the Yakuza series. I see you played a bit of 0, but, well... there's a lot more in it. ^_^'

Reus is a really nice "god game". It's kinda like farming... but you're managing the resources of villages instead of watering plants and buggering cows. Ok, maybe it's not like farming at all.

Battle Chef Brigade is a really nice... um... how can I best describe this... cooking and action RPG thing. (Though I should mention that if you care about 100%-ing games, the last achievement is annoying and grindy for absolutely no reason. <.< )

Dustforce is a very fun "skill based" platformer. (Aka, it's challenging, but damn is it satisfying and awesome.)

If you ever wanna try out a really cool (and super hard) puzzle/programming game, I recommend SpaceChem.

For a game that you don't have, I highly highly recommend Rabi-Ribi. It's a very very very good Metroidvania.

I tried Crosscode but in the end the puzzles were just frustrating for me and thats what caused me to quit it.
Yep after playing god eater, im avoiding monster hunter because it just isn't for me.
I liked the way darkest dungeon was laid out and how it played and Xcom is more of a tactical style game which i dont really enjoy.
Yakuza gameplay just didn't keep me wanting to play it and Hyperneptunia while i know it appeals to many just didnt make me want to comeback after i played just a small bit of it so i decided to just idle the cards since i got it in a bundle.
Battle chef brigade i liked the premise but the match 3 cooking really made me wanna bang my head.
Reus i might have to look into and Dustforce i played a bit of and should probably play more of.
I suck at programming which is why i don't really play many puzzle or games where you have to think a lot.
I'll add rabi ribi to my WL i think.

Hmmm, ok, I'll try some suggestions with less/simpler puzzles in them and more focus on action:

Devil May Cry 3 and 4 (and probably 1 and 5... we don't talk about 2) have probably some of the best and most stylish Hack-And-Slash combat out there. Should warn you thought- they're pretty hard at times. (And, no, DmC Devil May Cry simplified the combat to the point of monotony, so don't take it as an example of what the others are like. >.< )

Painkiller (the original, not the crappy "sequels") is a really good Old School FPS. So, pretty much nothing more complex than "kill everyone" or "press a button to open the door to the next area and then kill everyone". If you liked DOOM, there's a good chance you might like this one too, assuming you don't have anything against some old-game graphics. ^_^'

Speaking of over-the-top First Person Shooters- Bulletstorm might be to your liking too. I wouldn't call it old-school but it's still fun to use an electric leash to pull a dude to yourself, slide into him to trip him, blast him in half with a shotgun and get even more bonus points for the fact that the pieces got impaled on a cactus. :D (Oh, yeah, and it's made by the same people who made Painkiller.)

RIVE is a fun... um, I think they call them "Twin Stick Shooters"... anyway, it's a fun arcadey moving around and shooting stuff game.

I see you've played quite a lot of Bullet Hell games. Well, I'm sure you already know of these, but Sora and SUGURI are pretty good Bullet Hell games. Especially Sora... well, I mean SUGURI is good too, but let's just say Sora is to SUGURI kinda like how Acceleration of Suguri 2 is to 1- significantly more polished. ^_^'

Ok, last game I can think of, although it's kind of a stretch. World to the West is a fun action-adventure game with sorta metroidvania elements to it. However, it has a handful of puzzles so I don't know if you'd like it. :/

I have played DMC 3 before when i owned a console
Painkiller intrigued me but i never pulled the trigger on it
Bulletstorm i bought in a steam sale and decided to refund it as it became just a bit too repetitive for me
Rive i recall trying and quit for some reason
I believe i tried those shmups but they ended up making me rage quit
World to the west was in a bundle i think and i believe the puzzles is what turned me off

For Metroidvanias, I'd say Cave Story (I see you own it, just haven't gotten far in it), and Rabi-Ribi (Don't judge it off character design, its pretty good, gameplay wise)

Persona 4 Golden, while not an action RPG, is pretty good, though if you're up for emulating, I would definitely recommend 3 FES on the PS2, easily my favorite game of all time.

Action rpg - bastion
Zelda-like - shipwreck

Evoland 2 also has a lot of various genre if you are interested

I beat Dust, really enjoyed it
I beat Bastion, again a great game
Also tried Evoland and need to likely keep going in it but i think i got stuck and couldn't find a way to progress.
Is shipwreck exactly like Zelda? I'm actually not a fan of Zelda and the only one i really like is Minish Cap

Ah, i see. I thought you are gonna enjoy zelda-likes too since you like action rpg. My bad. Minish cap and the older zelda games are also my favorite.
Shipwreck is similar to zelda, with the dungeons and bosses. I won't force you if you don't like it though.

Anyway, found another game to recommend:
Metroidvania - Hiiro

Btw, feel free to ask me if you want to continue evoland later. I beat both games a few times so i should know the general rundown of what to do.

I play mostly 100% single player games that are either indies or somewhat unknown
My current list of recommendations(AAA games excl.; also sorry for the long list in advance):

  • Atari Vault (arcade)
  • Battle Chef Brigade Deluxe (tile matching/light platforming/light ARPG)
  • BlazBlue franchise (fighting games/visual novels; they aren't pretty big titles, are they?)
  • Celeste (precision platformer)
  • Downwell (precision platformer/rogue-like)
  • Dreaming Sarah & Wishing Sarah (both psychological horrors/puzzle games)
  • Etherborn (puzzle)
  • Kimmy (visual novel)
  • LiEat (RPG)
  • Mary Skelter: Nightmares (might want to get Mary Skelter 2, if you own a Switch; it comes with Mary Skelter: Nightmares as well; both are visual novels, psychological horrors, RPGs, first person dungeon crawlers and ecchi games)
  • Metal Slug 3 (shoot 'em up)
  • rdein's works: Bunny Swordmaster Story (short arcade game), Momodora franchise (metroidvanias) & Minoria (metroidvania/souls-like)
  • One Strike (fighting game with the same concept as PS1's Bushido Blade, aka all attacks are 1 hit KO)
  • Rabi-Ribi (bullet hell/metroidvania)
  • Riddled Corpses (twin stick shooter)
  • Songs for a Hero (platformer/musical)
  • Tanglewood (puzzle/psychological horror)
  • Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action (visual novel)
  • Wonder Boy in Monster World (the Sega Genesis one on Steam; platformer)
  • Knight Club (party fighter game; iirc, the one on Steam is a remake, but the original version is distributed for free on Itchio)

Also, there are some console games that I really enjoyed:

  • Solatorobo (ARPG; Nintendo DS exclusive; hoping for a remake in my lifetime)
  • GrimGrimoire (real time tactics game; PS2/PS3 exclusive)
  • Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (ARPG; the remake is on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita)
  • Dragon's Crown (beat 'em up/RPG; also on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita)
