People are free to offer whatever they consider suitable. Markets have no set prices.

Yesterday I got offered a DOTA 2 key for a game. Yeah, a DOTA 2 key. Yeah, a key for a free game. Yeah, yesterday, not one year ago.

you apparently dont know what a DOTA2 key is....its just like a TF2 key......they hold a value....each one represents $2.00....its a key, not like, a code to activate the game....its one of the keys that can be bought from the in-game store to open chests/crates...

As long as it's a treasure key and not a game key, anyway (which it should be, I'd think)

Dota 2 keys are in game keys that are priced just a little bit above a TF2 key.

You were also lowballing, which many traders find insulting and a massive waste of their time.

Considering 4 keys is cost for DS iirc, pretty much nobody will go lower than 5 keys for a gift copy, which I'm sure you already know. But continue to call it "haggling" when you're offering below their cost, I'm sure that will win you a lot of friends in the trading community.

I think you're in the wrong here. You go into someone else's thread to tell people not to trade with a guy because you dont like his attitude? What gives you the right? If he had scammed people (you or others) thats one thing, but to basically hijack someones thread b/c you don't like the way he operates/reacts is out of place. You need to develop a backbone, especially in respect to dealing with some of the traders on Steam. If you can get through the minefield of lowballers and the ones who overprice everything, you'll run into some very nice people and develop relationships with them where they're more inclined to give you a price break. Not everyone is looking to sell immediately.

You were definitely out of line responding in his thread like that. It was unwarranted and he had every right to react the way he did.

yes I think your right maybe I was too hastey and this has blown out of proportion i should have kept it to the feedback system within steamtrades. I still felt like people should know

Some people are more comfortable with themselves when hiding behind a nickname and their computer screen, lots of warriors roaming the internet in their mommies' basement. Perhaps being rude makes them feel good about themselves. But you also meet some people that will just be selfless and polite.

And yeah, stop making bad offers :-P

I haven't had many problems yet, despite making over 32 trades. Most people I trade with are thoughtful enough to get straight to the point and discuss what they're willing to trade or not.

Well, if he bought that game to trade it away, and he's not in a CIS country, him taking your 3 keys wouldn't even let him break even should he be looking to resell them on the marketplace. In that case I could see him getting a little snippy, but his location's hidden, so who knows.

DS is RU locked. So 4 keys is cost for DS.

most traders are lowballers and highballers, they lowball and highball because that's actually their life and that's what they do most of the time...trading. then selling. you can actually get real cash from these items...but the time you spend doing it isn't really worth it.

it's just patience that you can actually trade fairly.

  1. dont argue with their listed price, it's their item and you are the one that wants their item.
  2. set a price you can pay and stick with it...
  3. if they didn't agree just move on. you're just wasting your time trying to make them agree for the price you want that they dont want.

that's just it...just have fun trading and dont let it affect you. move on...
