Steam hacked. Free stuff?

I wonder what they will do if they steal money from people's credit cards or games from their accs since it's totally their fault..
And yeah they should give something for free instead of a useless cheap apology! Hats for tf2? no thanks lol!
I don't think they'll give anything expensive, but something like dungeon defenders could be great! Well.. even if they give something it'll be a valve game, maybe then dota2? :)

you will get nothing... this is valve we're talking about here, and steam fans are rabid in their love for the company... its not like sony where they feel they might have upset or offended their customers... valve completely knows that its customers are blindly loyal and they can do whatever they want without losing them :)

now EA... oh man, i hope EA gets hacked. they know they're not loved, so im sure they'll give out free stuff... dear hackers, when you've had your fun with steam, go after EA please :D

I agree with BaronOfBarons. Valve is just a weak little child who can't handle themselves, let alone giving free games to people who might have just had their money stolen by hackers (which is Valve's fault).

No free stuff. Shit happens, and they where completely right in their attitude to tell everyone about it (not like Sony, who just tried to keep it hidden until a lot of its customers started complaining about cc problems). It'd be nice, though.

Anyway, it's a good thing not to let your credit card information stored on any website, really. It's stuff you're the only one supposed to know.

I wonder what would the "I survived the great Steam hack" TF2 hat look like.:D Anyway, I don't expect they will give anything to anybody.

I don't know if Valve will give us customers free stuff, but the hackers will surely get free stuff with the credit card numbers they got. j/k.

That feel when I used the Steam Forums password for everything else

You get a TF2 hat that says "I lost all the money on my bank/credit card account and all I got was this hat".

I ever get an email from the credit card company saying there's some strange activity, and the last thing i can think of saying is "will i get free stuff?" more like getting a big ass sue about it, thats for sure.

Thank god i deleted all that info after buying some Source games, i've been getting alot of games from some friends paypal accounts as of lately, but still they could at LEAST send us an email about it, saying we should change some credit card passwords or something.....and apologizing

I don't think they will. Even if they would, Valve basically only make shooters so not much they could give me that I'm interested in.

since steam is not down and they say there is no evidence anything of value was stolen, no. but if they find out that stuff was taken, probably either a key or some valve game.

So Shiv is mad that we're not as angry because Valve didn't hide it for 3 weeks.

You say "free stuff" as if they HAVE to GIVE it to you. But they don't, and there's something wrong with your attitude.

I think they might, just to save some face and to calm down the customers. Steam users are known for being incredibly bitchy (just wait until the forums are back up.)

Guys are getting greedy. Valve is one of the most generous companies I know. Several free Portal events, free TF2, and all that stuff. Heck, most of the updates for TF2, companies like Capcom would make you pay for.

I've had 3 emails in the last hour about someone trying to log into my Steam account, SteamGuard protected it. I strongly recommend everyone change their passwords though, they've obviously got some.

This isn't the same as the PSN incident. It was just the steam forums that got hacked. It's not that no one of us could use steam for months on end.

If everyone does what the (self entitled) PSN community did(ie. Complain, and demand compensation – hey, we may be able to play our games but god damn it we can't post on the forums!!!), than yes, we will.

We are not entitled to anything, wishing/hoping so is the wrong attitude to have towards this situation. What good is a free game if our accounts get hacked, wise guy? Your concern should be with security, not consolation prizes.

Actually, OP, you would have known, a forced News message was put out on Steam and you obviously don't ever go to the forums.

I would rather want Steam to fix their security issues than to give us free stuff...
