Steam hacked. Free stuff?

What game(s) do you think they will give us?
Maybe we will just get hats for TF2?

Edit: Steam Didn't even send me an email about the hack. So if it wasn't for video game websites posting it I wouldn't have known.

There's no telling. It is completely plausible they would actually do this. DotA 2 is rumoured to be a free game in the first place. Portal 2 has been out for a while and they have given out the original Portal numerous amounts of time for free. Giving out Portal 2 for free may bring more users onto their platform and continue to put their good reputation up.

It could be false but I won't be surprised if it isn't.

valve is just a company. they exist solely to make money. they are NOT your friend, and they do NOT care about you. it's sad that you're so eager to defend a corporation, but not your own rights.

LIES! Valve gave me their free Steam client and let me give them money to buy games from them.
I doubt it could get any more charitable than that! Let's give them all our money, so they can fix Steam even faster.

They gave out portal 1 for free numerous times.
They gave out some game for free during the summer sale.

They do intend to make as much money as possible, but they don't ignore you completely.

Of course you can't demand compensation for the forums being offline, but the forum wasn't the only thing, that was hacked and it took them 4 days to notify us about that.
I'm not saying we should all get free games (or anything else for free), but they definitely have to do sth, to get my/our trust back, because it is their responsibility to keep all our private information in a secure place.

No offense but your steam is not that big,
There's no reason that they will hack to your steam ..
There's like 40M steam useres all over the globe and from all of those you will get hacked ?
No if you ask me .. check your computer for viruses and other diseases
