It is legit and the rewards are pointless ;)
Took a long time for it to be decided and now the rewards are useless as most people dont even have the machine anymore and with 10 bucks its not like you can buy mem for it anyway.
I would still go for the 10 bucks. Can get a flashdrive if you want to, but most will already have one :P

So, I just got an e-mail telling me that anyone who bought an Acer laptop that came preinstalled with Windows Vista (which I did) is entitled to part of a class action settlement. The lawsuit says that Acer sold these laptops without enough ram to actually operate Windows Vista, and Acer decided to settle to avoid the cost of a trial.
Anyone else get this email? Is it legit? It's only ten bucks, or a 16 gig flash drive with readyboost installed, so it sounds legit, and it certainly looks professional enough. I really doubt it's phishing, but just curious if anyone else has got this. Also we can discuss this here.
Should Acer have settled, assuming the claims are true, or is it the consumer's responsibility to check things like this before buying? I believe that Acer definitely deserves to pay the settlement, as when you buy something, you expect in good faith for it to work properly, especially since so many people don't know that much about computers.
