The first Deus is one of the best rpg-fps games of all times and it has free community-made mod called "DE: Revision". Invisible war is weak , so just skip it and play Human Revolution (maybe not up to the level of original in it's time but it's still really good)

I will say it once, I will say it a million times. Invisible War is a good game. Everyone likes to gang up with bandwagon console hate, but it's a solid Deus Ex game. It's made even better by the massive community patch for PC.
Haters gonna do that thing they do.

Nameless mod. Don't read anything about it before you install it. Just play it. Interesting "sequel"

Metal Gear series, perhaps... Have no idea where to begin with it, don't know anything about it, but people say it's good, so why not. Final Fantasy as well. Only played one FF game waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, don't even remember which one.
Happy Thanksgiving, BHTrellis! :)

Either start with metal gear solid 1 and play them in release order or start with Snake Eater and play them in chronological order.

A sound advice, yet I am indecisive in such a situation: Play chronologically, or as the dev or writer intended, for it is same for me with books xD

Thank you. I forgot about that one. I need to get my hands on one of the STALKER games too.

The Metro games are actually based on a set of books (well, i think its a set). The main links between the two are radiation, mutants and anomlaies. other than that, some of the people who made Shadow of Chernobyl ended up on the team for Metro 2033.
SoC (and the others in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series) are partially inspired by both Roadside Picnic (a Strigatsky Bros novella) and the Tarkovsky film Stalker - though that came later after the games initial development. They do take elements from the two, but are not directly based on a fictional work. This likely lent to the games benefit as a cult classic in some ways.
Otherwise, they're fairly different (metro being comparatively linear in some ways) in terms of FPS play style. Didnt stop me enjoying Metro 2033 though. Just wish I could get Last light without having to get the redux version.

Metal Gear for sure. I even have Metal Gear 5 now, but I'm a little afraid that I'll not get anything.

Console exclusive franchises DO count in this discussion.

The Gothic series, always hear good things about it but never got myself to buy em, might give it a go during winter sale.

Recently completed 1&2 and really enjoyed them. 3 is also good ( a sort of halfway between Gothic and Risen), though its easy to mess up your game early on if you begin liberating towns too early.
Do suggest you get the gog versions for stability though.

Gothic
Risen
The Witcher (played a bit and I know some of the setting)
and surprisingly (I would love them) played close to 0 / literally 0:
STALKER
Metro
Final Fantasy
Residen Evil
The good thing is that i own quite a few of the listed franchises' games, so it's just the matter or time / mood to get into them. I feel like a kid, who tries to save the best thing for the last, but then maaybe overdo it a bit :)

I'll just mention games of a franchise that I don't already own (because there are some that I DO that are relevant to this discussion but are backlogged... like Tomb Raider (I aim to get to this before the movie releases), Neptunias, etc.)
Assassin's Creed, waiting for a 75% or higher sale on Steam - I want to start at the beginning
Divinity: Original Sin
God Eater
Tales Of...
The Walking Dead - actually Telltale anything
Toukiden
Ys

Bought Saints Row 3 today so I will play that today. I think I will like it because it looks similar to GTA.

Never thought about that. But its hard to find a famous franchise that I'm not tried on PC.
Never played Darksiders and Dark Souls. But definetely I'll try someday.

Final Fantasy. I only played the original on NES for a short time, but never fninished it. I even own a couple of the re-releases for PS1, but never played them.

There are so many game franchises out there and I'm sure many of us have yet to try some.
So what are the ones you have not tried but are willing to?
The only one that I still would like to try so far is the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. Believe it or not, I have never played any of that series yet.
I don't like the CoD games, but I do like the Battlefield games, for some odd reason.
So, anyone else?
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to all SG users that celebrate it, like I do. YAY! Free food! :P
