Resident Evil 2
5 years. I played almost everyday of this 5 year period but lets just say 1200 days for easy calculation. I finished the game at least thrice a day; which roughly calculates to 4 hours.
That means I spent 200+ days for the game... And I'm arachnophobic... :(

Sonic 2 on the Genesis. I have it on its original cartridge, in a collection on the Gamecube, in a collection on the PSP, and I emulate it on PC. It's my absolute favorite game ever. I just can't get enough of it, and I don't know why. At one point, I was playing it every single day, from start to finish (or at least close to finish), and this was waaaaaaaay after its release. It's not like I was noticing new things or running through new paths or anything... I was just enjoying playing it, over and over and over. I loved the gameplay, the sprites, the music... everything! If I could total up all the hours I've spent with it across all the platforms I've played it on, it'd probably have more playtime than any of my other games. Granted, I don't particularly like multiplayer games, but I play everything from shooters to racing games to RPGs, and Sonic 2 would still very likely have the highest playtime of all my games.
That ability to play the same thing again and again probably has something to do with my childhood. I grew up with a NES and didn't have heaps and heaps of games like I do now. Back then, I'd just play my favorite games (then Super Mario Bros. 3, Castlevania, and Balloon Fight) again and again, just happy to be playing a video game.

DOOM and World of Warcraft.
Fuck their addictiveness.

At the moment there isn't much time to return to all the old favourites. When I think of the last 15 years it may be Master of Orion 2 and Master of Magic - both are timeless masterpieces. Closely followed by UT99 (because of the great ThieveryUT mod next to its normal gameplay). And then System Shock 2 and Wizardry.
There are many games that I'd really like to play again at the moment. Especially many Dungeon Keeper and Magic Carpet 2.

Sins of a Solar Empire. The best multiplayer LAN rts, apart from arguably starcraft.

I loved Mass Effect on 360, and it was my first purchase on Steam.
Won't fucking play on my laptop, haha. If I could play it I would probably be on there everyday.
I keep cycling through games. TF2, then NFSW, then Minecraft and back. I play other stuff in between, but I rotate playing those 3 games every day. (NFSW can lose its cycle to other F2P games though)

Metal Gear Solid 3 is among the most times I've been through a game. Really amazing story, characters, gameplay and things to do. There are a lot of games I've played that are great or better in several ways, but for some reason I haven't gone back to them multiple times as I have with this one.

What game have you played the most and why?
For me, it's Mass Effect. I'm currently nearing the end of my thirty-fourth playthrough wih a thirty-fifth starting immediately afterwards (and a thirty-sixth and seventh planned for the future). I don't really know why I play it so much, but I can't get enough of it. I even love the Mako (thereby securing myself a place in hell, I know). At an average of 17 hours for a full playthrough, I've dedicated 578 hours (24 days) of my life to this game. BioWare, why are you sucking up my lifeforce?
