Maybe not. All of Tales Of games have similar aspects to the one you played. But Berseria is a definite upgrade over Zestiria though. Playing just Zestiria might not be enough as it is not the best Tales Of games. Read some reviews or watch videos if you want to find Berseria interesting for yourself or not.

Berseria is much better than Zestiria. Zestiria is one of the weaker Tales of games, while Berseria is one of the better ones. If what bothered you was the story and characters, Berseria's are much better. The port's much better too.
The combat is more open as well. There's a demo you can try to get a feel for the combat, and see if that resolves your issues.

Hey all, just asking because it's on sale at the moment at Bundle Stars and I've had an urge to get into an expansive JRPG. I had heard about Tales games throughout the years and decided to jump on Zestiria, but didn't end up liking it.
Technical issues of the PC port aside,I just found the world to be empty and I didn't really care about any of the characters. Also, the combat threw me for a loop because I expected it to be bit more like Kingdom Hearts with it's fully open combat and ability to move around , but Zestiria seemed to be confined to "lanes" where you could only move back and forward (although I later learned you could hold a button to free yourself of that restriction even though I wish it was like that by default).
So yea, based on what I said , do you think I'd enjoy Berseria more?
