TF2 idling in text not working anymore

After I see a line when it launches in text mode I haven't be getting drops the past couple weeks:

tf_server_identity_account_id not set; not logging into registered account.

I know this isn't the best place to ask for this kind of help but hey what the heck

I would but I like playing other games while idling. Using idling servers takes up more memory and whatnot. I guess I could if I don't get this fixed.

Open TF2 and go to an idling server before going to sleep.

I've seen that and still gotten items (haven't tried this week, but it worked fine through Pyro update items and prior).
(I believe it just refers to either being on a registered-with-Valve server or being somehow registered on the server.)

Eh ok maybe it's another problem. I'll try idling for a few hours today and see if anything happens.

Puff that "error" always shows
If you dont get items
-You used all your hours
-You dont know how to idle properly in text mode

Advice= dont start idling after updates/when item server is down
Friday is a good day to start idling since most updates are wednesdays ir thursdays

Is doing this actually legit? Wouldn't it just be getting items for doing nothing? If so cool I guess since so many people are inclined to trade games for TF2 stuff...might as well give it a whirl, get some free games from trades and plop the up here for giveaways, right? I have to much spare time on my hands lol....

I don't think anyone has ever been banned as a result of idling. A number of people had their items removed a while back because they were using a separate program to spoof the TF2 servers into thinking they were playing.

Idle servers and text mode has always been safe to do, as long as you're using the actual TF2 software to do it. The community just tends to frown upon it.

I used to be against it... until Valve didn't really do anything to stop it after a couple of years... then I just started feeling like a sucker for not doing it.

"tf_server_identity_account_id not set" means, that your server is not registered and you can't connect to it through Quickplay.

use tf2b.com and check your bp. any new items will appear in red and in a unassigned space. next time you start the game normally you will recive them

I tried to go into textmode by 2 methods - Steam shortcut and desktop shortcut, but both failed. Can someone please PM me instructions how to do it?
