PSA: Please disable ad-block for steamgifts!

As we all know, the site has had some trouble lately. I saw that cg said in the chat room that it's just simply not able to keep up with the load on the current servers. The next step up is about 2.5 times more expensive than the current plan.

I'm sure a lot of us just install ad-blockers and never think about them... but if it's a site you love like steamgifts (and steamtrades, steamgamesales), please whitelist in your ad-blockers (I had to do it in AdBlock, Ghostery, and Disconnect).

It only shows one ad, at the very bottom of the screen. I don't even see it most of the time because you have to scroll all the way down for it.

Let's give more than just games, let's give our ad revenue too!

Ad block disables the ads before loading the page, so it does not count the hits.

I use the site half of the time from mobile and there aren't blocked.
I will whitelist at pcs WHEN there is a promise those hateful sound ads won't work again (and it happen). They're very annoying, especially on mobile, with people around.

cg if you opened up a link on the site to help support for better servers etc. I'm sure many will click on it, and donate. Just a thought, but each to their own. I would sure help out if this was available. Peace!

Why don't you simply add a donate page? Or are you afraid that people will call you a jerk? You already gave away + $2,200 worth of games away.

You can also set a limit...

Disabled Ad-Block as well.
I would like to suggest cg to make a new donor feature where donors get a few extra features. Nothing out of the ordinary more like a formality to raise funds.
Heck, even a 'donate' button would be welcomed.

The only "feature" that I can think of is to add the import to the contributor value.

My ad-block was disabled from at least a couple of months. :)

Didn't even think about it, probably because that one ad was always there even with my adblock enabled.
That never really bothered me so didn't even think about that. But disabled anyway!

i don't use adblock but forget that steamgifts even has ads! they're so relevant and out of my way that i barely think of them as ads

You should disable ad-block for every website you are using frequently which has no intrusive adverts, though. Everything else would be anti-social

i block ads manually through blacklisting ad servers or using userContent.css. since that takes some effort i only do it when the ads are really annoying. i also do it for stuff that's not ads, like the annoying dropdown menus at the top of wikia.

I thought that you only gained revenue from ads if they were clicked on?

Therefore, since I almost never click on ads, I disable them so that I don't have to look at them
I've whitelisted SG, but still, wouldn't this make no difference? (since I'm still not clicking them)

ah ok, that explains it :) happy to disable then! (the main reason i installed adblocker was because youtube started becoming so annoying with the "wait 30 seconds" ads)
