I'm relatively new, and I wanted to ask those in the higher levels if they thought it was worth the time and money they spent to actually get into their said levels.

Why do you say that? The pay-off isnt worth it or you think it was just a general waste of your resources?

Seeing as 13 out of your last 25 wins were solely because of your high level, I'd say you're mistaken here :D

I wouldn't call levels 3 and 4 "high levels"

Didn't count lvl 3. I counted lvl 4 though because if you look at the stats, lvl 4 is pretty rare, plus it takes a lot of time to level up after lvl 3, I'd say. It took a while for me at least.

I don't consider 4 high. 7 8 9 10 are what I consider high and those really aren't worth it.

To be fair, you're a level 7 (as am I).
Maybe it wasn't like this for you, but as a lvl 2, seeing lvl 4 was like seeing someone who had given away a lot of stuff. It's $100 of CV after all.

For us, those levels look low because we're much higher up than they are. But put yourself in the OP's shoes. Starting from the bottom can look intimidating. It sure did for me. I didn't have much money to spend of cool giveaways and I slowly climbed to where I am now.

Depends on what "worth" means. If you only want to win games, then this strategy will overall probably leave you at a net negative.
But if you like giving stuff to people and making them happy, then I'd say it's worth it.

Also, remember that people who give are the reason why this site keeps running like this. It'd be nice to make a few giveaways if you frequent the site and especially if you win. There's no obligation to make giveaways, but there's no obligation to do most things in life.

EDIT: Of course take into account your own financial state. If you have more than 10€ to spend on luxuries per month, then maybe buying a single $1 tier bundle once a month won't be much of a burden. But if you can't make up for that money, then don't put yourself out just to make giveaways.

If you want to "level up" only to get games, then level 4 or 5 is the best input/reward thing. But then steamtrades is a better place.

But it's way more fun to just keep going for the sake of keep going.

I wanted to stop at 5, then at 6, then at 7 and now I'm already 8% in for lvl 8 after like a week beeing lvl 7 ;->

I won a couple of games here I really enjoyed, some from my wishlist, some others and so it's worth.

53% of giveaways historically have been Level 0. 91% of giveaways have been between Level 0 and Level 4, inclusive.

Quantity of giveaways is not the same as quality, and higher levels likely have better games.

No, definitely not. I can't stress enough how gifting on Steamgifts is NOT something you should do with the expectation of getting anything in return. Only gift for the sake of gifting, and enjoy the side benefits of doing so - people will appreciate you for gifting things, for not being a complete leecher, and you'll gain access to a few higher level giveaways here and there (it's a small bonus, but appreciable nevertheless).

But don't ever expect to gain more due to having given more. This is not how SG works and that will never be the case.

I like giving stuff away, so it is worth it to me. I don't worry about what I win, it is just a bonus and I am always grateful for what I win as what I am able to give.

If you are talking about strict math and rates of return investment, then you probably already know the answer.

Of course leveling up is always worth it. Just try to play any RPG without doing it and you will learn.

I think it's "worth" leveling for level 3, maybe 4 - if you can afford it, and want the most giveaway/spent money, most of the giveaways are relatively low level. But it's still just a game of chances and priorities - do you want to "trade" 40$ worth of games you may enjoy for the small chance of accessing more giveaways for games that you may or may not enjoy...

If you're here on SG to "get a return on your investment" (and that's what the OP reads like to me) - you're in the wrong place.
You'd be better off getting a 2nd job or putting in a couple more hours in at your current job, and buying your own games.

Personally speaking, I didn't give away games to level up - I gave away games because I had extras, there was a good deal, or because I felt like it. To each his own, though, and welcome to SG.

Each person has to consider what he or she wants out of this site, and then how much he or she is willing to pay for it. What I wanted was to give games away so that other people would be happy to win something and excited about playing their shiny new games. As for how much I am willing to pay for that pleasure, I can stop anytime I want I am still spending money.

look..it only depends of what you want...im not in groups...so is same as nothing beeing high lvl...because most of the people gifts the good games between their "selective groups people". So...just gift for the sake of gifting..i don't win a game since...let me see..4 months ago was my last win...and?...well...if you wanna gift,gift..if you wanna be a superstar of course you will have a lot of groups and wins...but depends of you. But if you are looking leveling up for having more wins...well...don't do it...is a selfish way of thinking...

Hmm...

Is gaining levels on Steamgifts profitable? No. You're going to spend far less time and money buying the games you want directly, rather than gaining levels in the hope someone makes a higher-level giveaway for a game you want, and then hoping you get lucky...

I think many people make giveaways solely to "level up", which is their choice of course... :) But that often leads to asking "what games are the most profitable for me to give away?" instead of "what games would a giveaway winner actually play?"

What sorts of giveaways would you like to see around here? :)

If your only goal is to acquire games for yourself, it is not worth spending money in order to raise your level - for the amount you'd spend getting to level 10, you could buy all the games you want for yourself directly.

It depends on what you mean by investment.

I use steamgifts as a place to give away what I don't want from various bundles - so I save money by getting games I want for cheap, and I don't have to worry about the games I don't want just sitting and not being used. I've won a decent amount of pretty okay games, and, more importantly, met a bunch of wonderful people and a very supportive, friendly community like backlog assassins through the SG forums.

I feel like I've gotten a lot for what I've put in, I've made friends and made some people happy with things I didn't want but they did. I think that's a very good return on my investment.
