I'm not a fan of horror. They should remove all those games next. Personally, I wouldn't mind it.

River Raid from 1982 for the Atari console was eventually banned in Germany.
From memory (it's been a while) it ws because violence was the only solution.

While I can understand not liking porn or adult themed games, guess what will happen when other groups realize they can get "objectionable" legal(!) content effectively banned too.
Like the action games or shooters many of us play.

I appreciate you, and the other people who commented on my original comment's, replies and thoughts on this. You all make good points. I have done more research on the situation, and I can see that there are many layers to this situation. From what I've researched, however, it seem to me that what happened is not a win for government censorship, but a win for people taking a stand by pressuring companies into acting by making them aware of what they are supporting, and letting them know that they will lose business for continuing to do business the way they have been. This article sums up my thoughts on all this: https://lifehacker.com/entertainment/why-steam-banned-adult-games

You can click the ˅ on the right bottom corner of each game's card and click Hide Game, so probably they won't show up anymore after that.

I don't think that'll stop GOG from sending me emails asking me to buy DLC for them. :(
Edit: To be clear, these developers are absolutely counting on people buying DLC for their games. That's what they get out of this. Not a full sale, but enough to cover the losses a bit. I'm okay with that. I just don't want more GOG spam.

At least one of the major games stores had the courage to show the middle finger to credit cards and protest against censorship, good for GOG! We need more of this, there's some people out there that still haven't understood that's it's not just about porn getting banned, is about groups overstepping their role and restricting what type of LEGAL content fully grown adults can access just because it offends someone somewhere.

Those existed before the internet, sadly any type of media can serve as a vector for the spread of fascism. Should we shut down all means of mass communication because some bad actors will use them to spew their hateful views and beliefs, or should we make sure those people are accountable for the shit they say? I think the second one is more reasonable.
Comment has been collapsed.
Internet made it super easy to stick your ideas into plastic, indiscriminate minds, especially young ones. I lived before the Internet and yes, of course, ideologies existed and were spread through different channels, but in the end you could have a face-to-face discourse and try to change someone's mind (or they could change yours). This is now next to impossible, and even if you succeed, it will be only until the next hateful tiktok rant of some demagogue. And yes, of course, they should be held accountable, but it's very hard even if they live in the same country, and how about those living on the other side of the planet, plus what if they're also wealthy and influential? Forget it. :-/
PS. I'm not advocating for any form of censorship, I just mourn that the freedom of thought and speech also includes freedom to spread ideas about depriving others of that freedom.

Yeah I can't argue with that, no point in denying the observable truth. I guess it just comes with the territory that given the means some will use them for bad things, but as I've hear some say you can't put the genie back inside the bottle, the internet has become an omnipresent part of life and even if it went away for whatever reason people would likely try to recreate it or make something new inspired by it. I once had an argument with a friend where I insisted that even if all modern technology magically disappeared overnight as long as people who knew how it worked from a conceptual and/or technical point of view remained someone would be actively trying to reconstruct what we currently have, it's human nature to want your thing back when it is taken away (regardless of it was good for you or not, or if you even used it).

I apparently already owned about half of these, which says some things about me.

We don't deserve GOG... I'm more and more buying games on GOG and less on Steam. To be honest, GOG is appealing more and more.

Seriously, I check GOG first, before I buy anything at Steam.
If there's even a chance it will get a GOG release I will wait.

Postal 2 is the only game there that I already have but the message is much more important and I'll be sure to try out these other games now to see what it was that bothered these censors who have no idea what art is.
So, they outplayed themselves. People like me are now interested in things they normally wouldn't have noticed.
GG gog!

Haha, true. I remember how people not normally interested in fantasy or kids' literature started buying and reading Harry Potter to see what the hell the church was ranting about. These groups who want to control what we see and play should have an obligatory study of reverse psychology and the Streisand Effect.

Actually steam did delist Huniepop ~7 years ago. Or at least threatened to.
This was during early years when steam started to allow some adult games with extreme scrutiny but suddenly delisted lot of Visual Novels (SFW or NSFW), Huniepop etc.
This was during steams first(?) "lobby group goes after adult games" thing - people just didnt dig deeper and blamed valve for it.
Article about it: https://www.gamepur.com/news/steam-visual-novels-porn-religious-organization (archive link for future https://archive.is/8KHcq )
(The group behind that was one that co-singed the current "open letter" from shouties)
Games affected per article: "Huniepop, Games from Lupiesoft, Sekai Project, MangaGamer, and several other companies"
Some of them are VERY tame if they have adult content, specially by todays steam adult listings.
I cant remember but I believe House Party had similiar fate - or at least they were told to make nudity as "DLC" if they wanted to stay in steam? Someone might correct me on that.
Postal 2? well that was banned during great "videogame violence moral panic" in lot of countries (and still is on german steam since 2016)
I have no clue about rest on bundle, I dont exactly follow adult games on individual level. To each to their own tho, and all that.

That's intersting, thanks for the link.
I posted my comment because I thought some people may have been under the mistaken impression that these particular games had just been banned. As GOG said (I think? I can't find the "censorhip is quietly deciding which games you can buy" page any more) these are examples of games that are supossedly "at risk".
Edit: it was on freedomtobuy.games where GOG said at the bottom "These games are at risk of disappearing.".

Well considering that at least Stripe seemed to have told itch that "stuff that give sexual gratification" shouldnt be connected to them.. its sadly possible. And thats literally everything with adult content if you take it literally...
But yeah, I thought I also saw some type of sentence going something like "some of these games used to be banned" or maybe I slightly misunderstood the "at risk" sentence in my haste.
Fact still remains, some of the games they are giving have been "at risk" in the past already.
-Postal 2 was banned in New Zealand, Australia (till 2013) and still in "German Steam" because laws would reguire "better age verification"
-Huniepop was at risk of removal due stuff I linked
-House party also got slapped ( see wiki and start of devolopment section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Party_(video_game) )
So I dont wonder why those 3 wanted to be part of the campaing. Postal devs also were part of "Stop Killing Games"!
Rest are probably not specifically been targeted but they are "at risk" for sure - after all fansly got told to remove stuff like furries among other content, so that covers at least the safari game.
But anyway, enough yapping from me on subject I dont really wanna get into :')

│ Also good for them they seem to give more than 48 hours, total they gave 57 hours + 10 min.
│ Guess the 10 min is GOG upload/release delay or whatever 😅
│ But either way, claim as soon as you can since... They're TOO POPULAR.
