I watched it from start to finish. The Brazilians played godawfully, and without Thiago and Neymar they are nothing but rubbish. In the other hand, the Germans played beautifully well.

and now its not one of the top 10 wins, greates one was 10:1 for hungary in '82

Well, for this exact reason I attempted to keep it all in one thread, but multiple threads are bound to happen when something as huge as this loss occurs xP This is the kind of match that will be talked about for 50 years

One Team > Other Team. Very simple. don't get so involved over it. They were German, so? Does that make then evil? Geez people get out that shit already. Just because someone from the past did something wrong doesn't make everyone who is ever from that past evil or bad.

Most people here stated the obvious: Brazil did not have the key players and its defense was extremely bad while Germany did their best. Nobody was talking about Germany being evil or anything...at least on this thread. You were just trying to fight an idea that has not even been established.

the better team won. that's what happens when a team that was helped to get to that stage meets the team that deserved to be there :p

The BRAZIL defenders were pedestrian throughout. I've never seen a more inexperienced & confused defense reach the semi-finals of the WC, than Brazil's (2014).
Also, Brazil lacked a RELIABLE playmaking fulcrum in central midfield. Transitioning from defence to attack was painful -- Brazil lacked a collected distributor in central midfield. A bevy of attacking players (three or four) far upfield did not hide this sad fact. Disorganized and without invaluable support from their pressured central midfielders, the attackers looked lost and fear-stricken.
The German's were impeccable attacking-wise, the functioning of both their attacking midfielders, and full-backs were out of the ordinary; easily out-maneuvering the slow-brained Brazilians, who plodded without effort in every single German goal.

Brazil forget about their defense, the first goal leaved them in bad shape, the second destroy their hope, a difference of 2 is a lot on this kind of matches... by the 3 (followed quickly by the 4th and 5th goals) they wasn't even trying anymore...
Comment has been collapsed.
I thought that maybe they could do something on the second half, I never expected them to win after the fourth goal, but maybe reduce the difference, like 5-2,5-3.

Holy shit, there were actually 40+ year old adults openly weeping because the soccer team they wanted to win lost. And people call video game players immature?

When the team that is supposed to represent your country lost in a world tournament, you are entitled to feel sad for them. Furthermore, they took a heavy beating from it. Imagine American National Football team go against Canadian team and America lost, 'course American would be pissed and sad as fuck.

You're entitled to be an infant and cry if the Dota 2 team you're watching loses if you want to, but people would mock you for it. There were people with paint on their faces sobbing in the stands, that's hilarious.

it's nationalism. Brazil is a country known for its passion of football. To lose on their own field and to lose this bad, their national pride was unsurprisingly heavily damaged. I've even seen pictures of aggresive mobs burn the Brazilian flag.
Comment has been collapsed.
Burn their own National flag?!! I get that they're upset, but if you have to burn something, then burn the effigies of players or something!
Comment has been collapsed.
National pride over a game? It's literally a children's pastime, it's men kicking an inflatable ball back and forth to each other. I've never seen gamers burn flags because their LoL team lost.

Dude, you are really asking for it. Stop saying shiet like that or not only internet white knights but pretty much everyone with common sense will bring pitch forks and set up camps in front of your house.

What, so the sobbing men with paint on their faces are going to get violent with me? I'll speak my mind about whatever I want, I don't care what those crybabies think.

Hasbro and Nerf bring in a lot of money as well, but I'd still be disturbed if I saw adults crying over a board game or foam gun match. I don't even know who Ann Coulter is, save your politicsperging for a newspaper's forum.

Probably shouldn't mention MOBAs, Awesomenauts is bad enough and that's a casual MOBA.

True.....if I didn't know better I'd think a relative of their's died or something! XD

Right. Because something than can inspire so much emotion in people is ridiculous. Emotions are for pussies.

If you saw a grown man crying because he lost at Mario Kart, I'm sure he'd just be considered emotional.
Comment has been collapsed.
So you see no difference between Mario Kart and the World Cup? There's not much point in all this then is there?
Comment has been collapsed.
Not especially, they're both just hobbies and games. If Mario Kart had a tournament there wouldn't be any difference except in size.

Some people just don't get football. And you're obviously one of them, and that's cool. I'm sure you have things that mean a lot to you, that randomers on the internet would laugh at you for. I think it's great that a sport has such a deep and moving effect on people, that's just me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Liking football's fine, I'm just saying that if you saw adults crying over any other pastime they would be pointed and laughed at.
Comment has been collapsed.
deep and moving effect on people, especially when they get violent between each other, make banners with insult written on them, attack players from the other teams, burn the flag of their own country. Yeah, really cool.

Brazil isn't one of the best football teams. They wouldn't be in semi-final if they weren't "carried" by referees. Apart from that, they had no Thiago Silva who was the most important player in deffensive because he was so stupid in match with Columbia. I expected that Germany will win but I thought it will be 3:0 or 4:0.
Comment has been collapsed.
One thing sir, It's "Colombia", not Columbia

Actually Brazil in the second half could have scored 2-3 times, then the score would have at least been respectable like 7-4! The German keeper Neuer seemed to have greater reach due to height, so that helped him do his job!
Comment has been collapsed.
Watch the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half and you'll see Brazil dominating with the ball. Maybe the coach said something inspirational, regardless, if Germany were not already 5-0 ahead, they'd be pretty worried!
After those 15mins they lost their spirit and gave away another 2 goals! Seriously, though, Fred is not alone to blame.....the whole team did poorly!
Comment has been collapsed.
Dominating with the ball doesn't mean team had clear situations to score. None of the Brazilians had better situation than Ozil in the end. Also, I agree Fred doesn't deserve the shit he is given, i've just pointed that out to ironically present those 'convenient' chances of which ZerbaDerb spoke.
Comment has been collapsed.
Fred does deserve the shit he is given. Although he is not the only one to blame for the loss against Germany, he did almost nothing in this competition. He barley gets the ball, and when he does, he just shots it off target. He's not contributing to the game AT ALL.

Why? And how? Who watched the match and know reasons how one of the best teams lost to pragmatic germans?
Brazil's Plan B against germans
