Just wondering if this happens often - as I have a person who won one after the other :) lucky them it seems

Random chance is random chance. I doubt it happens often considering how low an individual's chances of winning typically are.

true - hence why I said lucky them :) guess I was just curious as to how often this happens - just hope that they dob the button to say received soon, as its been a few days :)

Depends what sort of giveaways you do. I use group/whitelist giveaways most of the time and several of the groups I use where ceated for specific events so haven't accepted members since so I see it fairly often compared to most peopl.

Good point - the whitelist thing is something I never really understood - being brutally honest - and I do giveaways on steam companion (appologies if mentioning the other site is a no no), so I bounced away from here for a while - so the number of whitelists I am on can be counted on fingers and toes :)

lately i keep winning more GA's on 1 day. but thats mostly whitelists or groups, if it comes to public, i am more likely to win 1 a month or even less :)

hmmm - I often worry that if I enter too many giveaways people will think I am being greedy :P - do people think that or does it not really matter?

i guess that will depend on the person who created the Give Away..

personally i also join just for the 'collecting' call it greedy if you wish :) but then again i try to keep my ratio in the plus.. to balance things out :)

those not giving are the greedy once

fair points - thanks for the reply, it is appreciated - I often wonder why some of those who have won a number of games still don't bother to at least create a few giveaways in return !!!

I can only afford to do giveaways of bundled games, but I thought it at least nice to try and give back - even only after winning three times :)

LOL - I was not touting for it - but I will not look a steamgift horse in the mouth :) one day I will understand all of this :) but I am getting older by the minute and my brain cells are taken up with my online shop so much that it pushes new stuff out of my ears :) Many thanks - should I do the same? if so, how? and does it help? sorry for the questions, but I lurk alot and have watched people who post end up on blacklists very quickly (though some with due cause), so tend to fear asking questions :(

I doubt anyone would object to you entering a bit more. Those 3 wins could use some company.

yes they could - I tend to enter giveaways on SC - but I like this place, so thought I would try and try and try again :)

Some users are of the view that people should only enter things that they are interested in but I don't think I've ever seen anyone here specifically have an issue with number of giveaways entered. People only usually have an issue with sent/recieved ratios - whether it be number of gifts, value of gifts or both.

Level also comes into play when considering multiple wins. I hit level 7 a few months back and even though I always did quite well with winning there was an increase when I gained access to those level 7 giveaways.

Levels 4-5 seem to be a relatively easy spot to reach even for those using almost exclusively bundle games. Level 6 seems to be the first real hurdle. There's still more than enough entries at level 7 to keep my chances from being spectacular but the higher you go the better your chances will be.

Then when you start combining level restrictions with group/private giveaways and the odds favour a given individual even more.

Thanks, the explanation is much appreciated :) Makes me think that it might be worth me doing more here and a few less on SC :)

You're welcome. I've only used SC a handful of times so I don't really know what the communities like over there but it's a great one here. There's the occasional nob that pops up but they don't tend to last long. If you need help with any aspect of the site feel free to ask, or just post in the forums and you'll get plenty of answers.

Many thanks - the responnse is appreciated - some lurkers on the fringe, myself included, tend to fear jumping into the forums :)

It isn't seen as greedy. The point system and other rules keep us from entering every single giveaway. People using AutoJoin and never contributing are looked down on, but everyone else is cool beans.

Good to know :) Can I ask, if it's not too much trouble to answer, do all the games we give away actually end up in peoples accounts - or do some go astray - I read that SG tools could tell me, is that true?

Hopefully they do, but some people don't actually do it. Sgtools has unactivated win, and you can always check the library manually.

When I do larger forum trains and such, it's not uncommon to see at least one person win 2+ games. For group & WL giveaways, it's very common.

Ask Zelghadis. He does it on a daily basis.

If I remember correctly, some of my very first wins did come on the same day. Being level 0 back then, I was more than happy to see that. So sometimes luck just works that way I guess... :)

ahhh maths - my favourite headache :) - I was just wondering, from a maths perspective I guess, how often people find this happening - call it OCD :)

A few weeks ago there were 2 users who won 3 of my giveaways each, all ending at the same time.

Depends ... if you enter everything possible to enter EVER and are part of 12 gazilion groups ... shouldnt be that rare i guess .

IF you enter for stuff you are actually interested in , and your wishlist makes some sense ... im happy when i win 2/3 times a month

I've won three invite-only giveaways from the same person (they gave away like 5 or 6 games at once I believe) at the same end time and there was a small mix-up with one of the games so he actually gave me 4 games instead of 3.

Yea, I don't enter as many giveaways as some other people but I still enter almost all the private ones if they're for a game I want.

I would like to thank everyone who answered the questions of a major sideline lurker - it is greatly appreciated - just one more question - do I close this thread, or does it close itself ? :)
