I just recently browsing about internet provider,
I see this http://www.xfinity.com/internet-service.html
$35 a month with 25 Mbps speed unlimited

You see my country BEST (Best speed best price) internet provider cost about :
$25 with speed 8 Mbps/1 MBps max at night, with quota 20GB day + 20GB Midnight
$50 with speed 8 Mbps/1 MBps max at night, with quota 55GB

My government said that our internet price is cheap, but I don't believe it one bit.

Out of curiosity what is your internet cost and speed?

Around $10 for up to 10Mb/s, 20Mb/s or 80Mb/s (yes, same price, different speed). Cable connection, no limits.
Sadly, I can't get more than 1,5Mb/s because of current location :/

Get ready to be shocked, I use the most cost effective ISP in my country, there are faster ones but they are 3G and end up costing a fortune.

Currently the USD exchange rate is very, very inflated in my country, but for this let's assume it was the usual exchange rate of 2 years ago.

I pay 10.000 AKZ, my national currency, around 100 USD

I get 1Mbps = 128 KBps no data cap

EDIT: BTW, 10.000 AKZ is 1/3 of the minimum wage for a full time job.

I have 4 Mbps / 512 Kbps unlimited for 25€/month, and the connection is wireless, so I let you imagine the interference problems.
Not to say that I have this one only since 2012... Before that time, there was some shitty 640 Kbps that cost 28€ (there was a 1 Mbps one but cost around 45€). And before 2007 there was only dial-up 56 Kbps internet.
In adjacent towns, instead, they have 8 Mbps / 1 Mbps, cabled and unlimited, for about 20€. And since 2003 they had at least 2 Mbps. With "adjacent" I mean 5 km or less.

I feel like I live in the wrong town and the wrong region. I've been hearing mayors, province and region presidents speaking of "optical fiber in the next two years" for at least 12 years now, but still... They brought it only to big towns, and maybe to some industrial districts.

$50/month for 125/25 cablewith a 250GB/month limit, but my account is grand-fathered in with no limit. USA, Midwest (near Chicago)

Google fiber is coming through next year, though, with 10x faster net for about the same price. I'll be switching then.
