G2A are doing a similar "deal" - 10 euro gets you 100 loot points and you can pick from a selection of random game bundles. Don't try it guys as waste of time and money. I tried it and got a big selection of poop with several of the titles being repeated.

Fanatical following in the same foot steps - pc game pass from Microsoft is a good step in the right direction for me and time to cut back all these crappy titles :)

Fanatical Mystery Goldrush: Claims vs Reality

Fanatical made claims regarding average retail price and review stats of Gold and Diamond rated on their Fanatical blog when this mystery bundle went live. Now that the bundle has ended, I'm going to put their claims to the test based on the data gathered here regarding drops. I am using only the retail price and review data provided in the charts here on SG. The only exception were two retail price lookups for games with a retail of "$ -".

Here's was Fanatical's claim regarding Gold tier games:

Average SRP: $22.05
Average Historical Low: $4.33
Average Total Reviews: 622
Average Review Score: 84%

Here are the averages of Gold tier games based on gathered stats:

Average SRP: $15.16 (-$6.89/31% less)
Average Total Reviews: 3458 (+2836)
Average Review Score: 80% (-4%)

Here's was Fanatical's claim regarding Diamond tier games:

Average SRP: $39.82
Average Historical Low: $7.20
Average Total Reviews: 1,600
Average Review Score: 87%

Here are the averages of Diamond tier games based on gathered stats:

Average SRP: $24.14 (-$15.68/39% less)
Average Total Reviews: 5093 (+3493)
Average Review Score: 77% (-10%)

My personal opinion is that the claims about Mystery Goldrush were overstated unless one or more of the following is true:

• SG users on average received or reported worse value & reviewed games than non-SG users.

• Drop rates were included in these averages AND those drop rates favored games with higher prices and review scores

• Fanatical used SRP and review sources other than the Steam store itself

Some caveats about these stats:

• We don't know what the drop chance of any given game is, as its possible that certain games could have different drop rates/chances. Fanatical could have included those in their average calculation. I did not have the means to do so.

• We don't know if SRP or Historical Low are specific to Fanatical, Steam, or any store (e.g. ITAD's Historical Low). If it is specific to Fanatical or Steam, then this would make the Historical Low higher than what ITAD would report. I don't have an easy way to pull Historical Lows for every single drop from this mystery bundle.

• If Fanatical used Steam reviews and excluded review scores deemed by Steam to have "too few reviews" to give a % score, then this can distort the average review score. We also don't know if 0 reviews is included or excluded from the average # of reviews. I excluded "No reviews" games from my average review score and review count. If I had included them, it would decrease Gold tier averages by 289 reviews and 6% review score with no impact on Diamond tier.
