Agreed. Cheap spirits < cheap beer < grape based alcohol < clear spirits < beer/cider < whiskey/scotch < bourbon. There are a few noteable exceptions to that order but that's the gist of it.
Dizzee before you discount beer in it's entirety you should at least try a few different ones, try at least one ale, one light beer, one dark beer, one cider, a mexican one and a german one to cover all the main different flavour variations. And for all of those that don't come from wherever you live, make sure it is fully imported from it's country of origin not brewed under license or else it will invariably taste like watered down piss.

Fair enough, I can totally see why people would view irish whiskey as the pinnacle of all alcoholic beverages. I wouldn't personally place irish whiskey at the top because it generally just doesn't have a oak taste as strong as that in bourbon, but for once I will tolerate a different point of view (partly because I have a bottle of Glenmorangie's here right now :))

My taste drifts somewhat over the years and right now I prefer more delicate aroma of irish whisky, but before that bourbon was on top, and before it was whisky, metaxa, cognac. Within the universe of dark spirits I just get a bit bored with one taste and move to another. And the top is what drink the most, not exclusively at the moment, because it also depends on daily mood.
This summer I also drank significant amounts of gin and tonic, a spirit that was rare guest in my glass previously.

Yeah I know what you mean, my preference varies a bit as well, though I find the barrel it was aged in and the length of time to be less susceptible to preferential variations than the the ingredients used, I tend to keep a rye wiskey, a single malt whiskey or scotch and a whiskey or bourbon made from a mix of wheats in my liquor cabinet at all times so I can pick and choose every night.
As for gin and tonic, I think it's a must for all liquor cabinets as it's practically a classic.

I don't think anybody likes beer at first. Even after all these years, I still think it's just "okay". It's better if you have some snacks to eat with, like salted peanuts or something.
And one beer isn't enough to get anyone drunk, I take three to start feeling any effect at all.

Beer is really good with a meal, Chicken / Beef and beer is great.
and there are so many different kinds of beers. Many different flavors. Some beer DOES taste horrible.
If the OP wants alcohol just to get DRUNK, then drink whatever you want. Beer is something you enjoy with a meal or as a way to relax, it isn't for everyone.

people drink because they are thirsty. hopefully they choose some healthy, tasteful, refreshing drink. of course there is social drinking and addicted drinking as well. but taking out the addicted, i'd say most people drink healthy, tasteful and refreshing drinks when they are thirsty. for me beer is healthy (in normal quantity), tasteful and refreshing and is my second choice after water. i love bitter tastes.

Coffee varies in taste also, a crazy amount actually, so many different types, same goes for teas, but then again there are over 3000 types of tea, I wonder if I will get to all of them by the time I die...

You might hate coffee or you might have just had meh coffee, I will admit I hate most cheap coffee's, cheap ones are nasty and bitter like you say, some more expensive ones are delicious and barely need any sweetener, not bitter at all, some are sweet, some are smoky, etc...
Get some high quality whole beans.
My friend said all teas were bitter also, it was because he was trying crap brands like Lipton, and not nice fresh whole leaves of higher quality.

my favoritue one is rooibos with dried orange skin :> but i also enjoy a lot of teas, but generally drink them a lot more in cold months not at summer.
Also remember you don't have to drink hot tea - most of quality fruit flavored teas are phenomenal as ice tea :>

I tried good ones as well - from good cafes made by professionals - they may not be qawful, but still I would't tell I enjoyed them. I dislike even coffee's aroma ;p
But yeah - you're right, at least with tea ;p there is no comparison between shitty processed lipton and for example original whole leaves (if you can call them leaves lol) rooibos :>
also getting back to coffee - it's not only bitterness - it's combination of taste, bitterness, aftertaste, aroma etc ;p cause for example even as Yerba Mate is quite bitter as well I enjoy drinking it :>

it is bitter, but it also have wonderful smoky aroma :) What matters is 1) get a good quality Mate (also some people prefer MAte with lemongrass, thou I prefer pure :>) 2) don't pour boiling water into it as it will became shitty aroma-less mud. you should prepare a water at ~75-80Celcius and pour it into thermos. Then to bowl of 2/3 dry mate pour water, wait till leaves absorb it totally (still not drinking, as this first pouring will be to strong) - then after it absorbs you by time add 2-3 sips of water from a thermos and drink it via bombilla. Rinse and repeat :> I can drink it like that for few hours straight little by little ;p

It's an acquired taste. Pretty sure everyone feels it's shitty when they first start, I know I did, but I kept trying different ones and it just grew on me, shits a treat now.

"u are not a real male if u don't like the beer"
Sorry, wut? So I'm not a real man because I don't drink alcohol? Seems legit.

I assume it was a joke but if not, that's pretty funny. I absolutely hate the taste of most alcohol yet most people consider me to be one the "manliest" people they know. I find that the people that focus on arbitrary measures of manliness tend to be the least secure with themselves.

Tbh I don't get all the snobbery about wine. Can't drink the stuff myself, for some reason I can't stomach it, literally. Same goes for spirits I guess.
And don't forget, beer is the poor man's champagne.

I hate half of the alcohol on the market because I got extremely drunk from it. Now I cant drink any more of it, it makes me want to puke. But there are still some alcohols that I do enjoy, which is going to be ruined for me pretty soon. Getting off of alcohol, one drink at a time :)

I'm 15, when I go out to the local club I drink about 10-14 draft beers so that's 25cl each, I have 2 or 3 tequila shots and a Desperados, tequila flavoured beer 33cl. I live in Portugal though so it's not real beer, you would call it lager in the UK. That's enough to get me buzzed.

I don't understand why hanging out and socializing are different than drinking for taste. Why wouldn't you drink for taste while hanging out and socializing? In my opinion there are two purposes for alcohol

and it was the ugliest thing I ever drank in my life (yes it was cold).
-Not even the slightest buzz effect after drinking half of the bottle, took me a few sips of wine to feel it.
-It tastes like ass, I wanted to puke.
I officially give this title to beer - the most overrated thing on the planet.
Wine and Champagne is much better IMO even though I think alcohol overall is overrated as hell.
BTW I'm 20 years old male.
