Can somebody explain to me why teh f$#! everybody is thanking in the comments in every goddamn game? I get that you're thankful for the opportunity but it's a given you are thankful for that. Why?

Because the contributor appreciate a thanks, even if its just spam and they won't get anything from it. Some just want to read and see that there are other people that are aware of the contributors generousness. Its not a requirement for most public giveaways so if you don't want to, you don't have to.

I try to thank the contributor in every giveaway i enter but most of the time the site is so slow (for me), that it takes literally 30+ secs to load. : (

actually its not a given that people are thankful for the opportunity. not by any means. most people here view giveaways as a given, and entering and winning them as a "right". those who DO thank, are the only few who DO think that giveaways are a privilege, and thanking is a way of showing that.

Allright everybody, thanks for your input. I sorta understand the constant spamming. Didn't think people would actually appreciate "mindless" thanking, but guess they do. I shall go forth and thank in my giveaway now too. Just so you know I'm not appreciating s%$§

its not the 'mindless' spammy comment that they appreciate. they appreciate that some people atleast bothered to make the EFFORT to put a simple thanking comment. its the effort, not the content thats appreciated. most people dont even acknowledge the gifter, they only see the gift.

You'd think it was a given, but alas, it's not. Thankfulness seems to be a rare trait these days - I've even had one giveaway winner who couldn't be bothered to say 'thanks' after he received the gift.

Yeah, I get that now. Some people are just little b§$%#es who can't appreciate anything. I didn't think there would actually be people that just want games, but I guess humanity is even more rotten than I thought.

Same here. Was my first and only giveaway so far too : ( (joined this community 2 weeks ago ^^)

I didn't care that much. I had a game that i wouldn't play and i gave it to someone who (hopefully) will have a lot of fun with it. Nothing lost for me and hopefully some fun for the winner.

I personally like to read through comments, and if it's an opening for a conversation I'll likely reply. I don't mind the thanks.

For someone who went out of their way to gift a game for free, why would you not say thank you? o.O

Like I said in the other comments, I would really thank someone if I'd won it. But I felt insincere if I just said "thank you" with no further input. But I shall do so from now on, since apparently some people in here are sucky.

Like I said in this thread. I never bothered saying "thanks" because it felt insincere. This will be different from now on.

I actually find it annoying and unnecessary to be endlessly thanked. It's not personal at all, and just creates a community of people with forced politeness and brown-nosing. When I make a giveaway, I'd much prefer that unless you have something more to say than "Thank you," you just move on. I know you're thankful for the opportunity to win a free game. So is everybody else. You don't need to leave a comment on every single giveaway.

I know I'm the minority on this, and I know most people who make giveaways appreciate the loads of comments that come to them, but it's not something I'll ever understand. You've seen one "thanks," you've seen them all, don't know why it makes any difference, other than having a high comment number gives people a bigger e-peen.

You're not the first person to ask this question (although you asked it in a nicer way) and this isn't the first time I've answered it.

The fact that anyone actually bothers to write anything on a giveaway is better than just entering without doing anything at all. You have to agree with that? A requirement for most private giveaway groups is a decent comment to entry ratio to prove that you either show your thanks for each giveaway you enter, or are active in the forums and community in general.

In private give away groups, every person who enters writes something by default (usually thanks). No one complains, no one asks why, and absolutely everyone makes sure they write a comment before entering. One big happy family forever with people who give and receive and show their thanks while doing so :)
