all games that don't need a mouse should work with this

Not sure how that gamepad functions but I do also like to purchase controller enabled steam titles and play with a wireless xbox 360 controller. Some titles just lack the highlighted controller option on the store page and require further investigation, you will usually find some yahoo answers if you google the title plus gamepad or controller etc.
Games For Windows Live titles I believe all have controller support where possible.
Failing that there is some additional software you can use to map your gamepad keys to windows keys and make use of the game controller that way. Such as JoyToKey and Xpadder.

No idea how many buttons you have to use in LegoHP, but as long as you can map every needed keyboard/mouse button onto game pad I don't see a problem.
For example I use PoV key as WSAD, right analog emulate mouse movements, buttons 1-8 usually are enough for other stuff. But if that's not enough you can emulate at least another 8 buttons on most game pads (probably 10 in your game pad case).

The F710 should come with profiler software (on the small CD it comes with) if the game doesn't support controllers AT ALL. However, some games do not have the controller-enabled logo but will recognize a controller, you might just have to map it yourself via the game itself.
Source: I own an F710.

If you would use the software, just put the switch on top to D for DirectInput. I didn't use JoyToKey because of the Logitech Profiler, so I wouldn't know which is better, but it works.
F710 supports Xbox natively if you put the switch on top to "X". Good luck. :) It's the main reason I bought it over the Microsoft one.

I use mainly 2 tools, one is called xpadder (http://www.xpadder.com/) its the best tool i find out to allow remap keys of keyboard into gamepad, it used to be free in past but now did became a payed tool but i guess you can find the freeware version over internet somewhere.
the second tool its called x360ce (http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/) the new games mainly support x360 gamepads, so this application allows you to config your gamepad to be recognized as xbox360 gamepad, that way you wont need to worry about config the keys, all you have to do its drop 2 files into game directory.
