Maybe in skill, but I have to admit, Ezio's personality is much better than Altair's.

The Punisher is not really an assassin. He's killing for revenge and that's not really the same :D

That's subjective, imo. It's more of a personal preference than just the mainstream ones. Though in this list, 47 is the best personally.

I rather Altair than Ezio to be honest. Also, even tho he's not an "real assassin", Sam Fisher should be included in the list.

I was looking for Sam Fisher in that list as well. :D

You're correct, Sam Fisher isn't a "real assassin", he's a secret agent.

Ezio, the times when Ubisoft cared about doing truly good Assassin's Creed games.

Rogue has great reviews. On first release no less. I'm shocked Ubisoft listened to all their upset customers from previous releases and actually delivered a good game from Day 1!

Well ACIV lots of ppl claimed it was best game of the series, I can say game was very awesome....the first hours, but very boring after because it was all the same all the time. Rouge was also supposed to be the "godbye" game for PS3 and Xbox 320 owners, because this is the last game coming there, and maybe because of that they decided care are more about it, but even if PC gamers are happy then, maybe they finally decided to listen angry customers in PC.

Yeah. I don't own it myself, but I was sure eager to check reviews out of curiosity. I was torn between expecting to see the typical "Ubi sucks; Ubi released another half-baked game; this is like an early access release; etc" and half expected them to get their act together. I'm honestly happy that it's appearing to be a good launch. :)

It's not really first release though. It should have come out at the same time as Unity but they delayed it since Unity was such a monumental fuck up.

Admittedly though it runs brilliantly and also significantly better for me than Black Flag did.

That's great to hear. I'll definitely be picking both Unity and Rogue up at some point. Rogue has been $22 on uPlay since release, but I think I'll hold out a while longer. Still have yet to play Black Flag and Liberation HD.

It's set between Black Flag and III with it's end leading into the prologue of Unity, don't know how well they tie together as I haven't played Unity yet. The gameplay is very much Black Flag and you get references and appearances from characters spanning the entire series of games in various ways. I can't disagree with all the reviews saying it doesn't really offer anything new it's not always a bad thing.

Either Agent 47 or Corvo Attano. Then again it could be argued that the best assassins are often unknown.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Corvo doesn't have to be an assassin if you don't want to :p During the first level, I comitted a masaccre. I felt so bad, that I finished the game with a stealthy non-lethal approach.

Yes, options. You can be the mass murdering jack the arcane ripper, or the guy that knocks everyone out or the guy who was never there but managed to kill everyone. So i would have to say if it ain't corvo, it would be the PLAYER who is the greatest video game assassin. lol

He can achieve his goal with like 1 kill through whole game? Not assassin imo.

That's a point of being assassin. Kill a target. Avoid anyone else. Try not to draw attention.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's a really good point, but, technically, the same goes for Agent 47, since the Hitman games also want you to try to win with just one kill. And I don't want Agent 47 to win. Dammit.

Is there some weird pro-Altair counterculture out in gamesworld? I don't get it. He's the boring, no-personality character from Assassin's Creed's awkward first try. There's a reason they essentially rebooted the series with a new, more interesting character.

It's not for the reason you may think. But I fell in love with the world of the first Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II hadn't the same appeal to me and Ezio didn't make me a great impression as Altaïr.

True, we can Ezio going from a full arrogant brat to a respectful mature man but Altaïr is much more mysterious for me.

Anyway, I'm not going to pursue a discussion about preferences for that matter. Each player feels something different and it's their right to prefer Ezio than Altaïr or vice-versa.

That's fair. I didn't want to fight about it. I'm honestly just confounded why anyone would find Altair the character interesting, not trying to shit on anyone's opinion. In my mind, he's as bland as the first Assassin's Creed is repetitive. But I guess we're all different. I can understand why you'd prefer the world of the first game, if you're more into Middle Eastern or medieval history. I think they were trying to provide the best of both worlds by moving the setting to Istanbul, which ended up resulting in a... not altogether positive outcome.
