It's late in the night and I just finished watching Re Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu episode 8 and it's really good and is my favorite of season so far. Anyone also following this? Maybe tell me what anime you're watching this season.

I really like it that I want to order light novel (vol.3 so far in Thailand) in order to see what happen next. But I'm afraid that it would spoil my experience on next episode.

So I'd like to know SG's preferences, when it comes to your favorite series, what do you prefer? Read novel first? Or watch Anime/series first?

Also, thanks for reading, here's cute mini train for you.

Edit: I forgot that movies is easier to approach than Anime since it end in 1 episode so it's harder to wait till it's finished airing. On the other hand, anime is aired 1 episode per week. I should have choose series (like Walking Dead, Game of Throne, Prison Break) instead.

Anime/Movie first

All I want is for Akira to be made into a weekly anime that closely follows the events of the manga. That is all. I'm asking too much?! I THINK NOT!

It really depends on the source material. Sometime I like to do research on the show/movie first (implying it's an adaptation to a comic or novel) and if it's decent, I usually like to go show/movie first since it's easier to get into. But for story-heavy titles (especially romantic comedies for me), I tend to read the comic/novel first.

How is it?
In my country, authorized publisher set the price pretty high, around 50 - 70% higher than normal light novel so I hesitate to buy.

It's as Rayl1ght said. The story is beautiful and the shield hero himself is enthralling. I read it online for free. :x

I want it to be animated
But I'm afraid the beautiful story is going to be ruined :(
Also pretty sure the dark story will be cut down

Knowing how anime usually turns out when compared to the origin story, yeah... it's highly likely. But I'd still like to see it nonetheless, to see how well or not well they do with the production.

I'm not a fan of Anime, never really liked it. Tho i really watch the hell out of The Last Avatar and The Legend of Korra. (But I think they are not really considering Anime in its true form).
On other hand I'm huge Movie addict. I've watched so many good movies that I think i could pass the begginer test for Movie Director. :P
I really enjoy reading too. I will start reading shortly Ready Player One which will be made in a movie soon.

I haven't read any light novels so far. I usually watch the anime first and then I read the manga because animes are incomplete considered to the manga's. If I were you I'd first finish the anime and after that I'd read the novel because sometimes it contains extra stuff that doesn't happen in the anime.

In the case of Japanese entertainment specifically, I prefer the animated version. When you're reading, if the translation is screwed up for a panel or two, you may not be able to figure out what's going on there at all. With the animation alongside it there, you have a much better chance of understanding what's actually supposed to be going on.

For things that haven't been translated, I usually go with the one that came out first.

That would be right most of the time. Although some time ago I heard a writer of a novel can't stand his anime adaptation that he complained it on Twitter lol.

Yeah, that happens a lot with adaptations. It's actually kind of rare for an adaptation to have the original creator's blessing. If I understood Japanese, I would absolutely stick with whatever came out first. But because I don't know the language, I go with the most understandable format, which is the anime. If the anime is bad for reasons that wouldn't be in the manga, like bad voice direction or lazy animation or something, the manga's always there.

LN/Manga first for me
Anime didn't really matter for me, except for the seiyuu(s) xD
The one I'm reading currently are HakoMari, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari and Mushoku Tensei
No anime(yet), but they're way too good

Most of the anime just ruined the good stories
Look at Tokyo Ghoul and Akame ga Kill

Well but probably everyone will be always prefer the anime
Because that's just how it works

I didn't watch Akame ga Kill yet but I kinda like Tokyo Ghoul, maybe because of the story since I never read LN/manga before. It got my feel for a while. Also, I like unravel (OP song).

And yes anime is always easier approach since it's more accessible and cost less.

Well if you're talking about OP ED and other things (like voices) in anime it's a plus
They're taking seriously making anime other than the story
They just can't cram enough things with 12 episodes, so they decided to make another story that will ruin the original
And the sequel will make it irreversible

Well the amount of people that are lazy to read are just too many
But I prefer manga/LN all the way
You sometimes should try to read LN/Manga before it's airing

I never bothered reading the manga/novel, I always go straight to the anime. Mostly because I really like the animation as an art form, and because the only comics I read are web-comics. Yeah, I'm awful, I know.
There's also the fact that every time I go to watch a movie adapted from a book I red I end up disappointed, so I prefer to stick to the first thing I found and don't bother much with its other incarnations.

I don't know what I should pick because it really depends and I hardly ever read a VN that I also watched the anime (if it's even available).

Novel or comics(manga) first.
But recent light novels in japan have too long title, I don't want to read that.

Always watching anime first and then read manga if they decided to make manga rather than another anime series.

Anime/Movie first for me because those are often worse than the novels, so I won't be disappointed. xD
And I don't just leave Anime/Movies out and just read the novels because I love Animation... haha.

I don't really watch anime too much and I've only read one light novel, but if I did it more, I'd definitely prefer to watch the anime first and only then would I read the novel. The simple reason is that I am terrible at understanding character descriptions (appearance, voice, attitude, whatever). When I read something (mostly fanfiction) I tend to imagine the entire scene in my head, as if I'm watching it animated. And... well... if I don't know how the characters look, sound and move, I wouldn't be able to do that. So I need to watch the anime first to get a feel for those stuff. Only then can I actually read a story about them without having to replace everyone with random placeholders that are probably far from how they're supposed to be. ^_^'

I prefer to see things in motion, hear voices, music so I prefer anime, but in scenarios where the anime won't get a second season like with Aku no Hana, I'm fine with reading the manga to finish the story.

As I watch more animes than read manga, I believe reading manga/novels first would spoil my enjoyment of watching...
