Didn't try it yet, but even Jake Solomon (the lead developer of the game) rates it high here.
Also a good article here.

they released beta 11 earlier today.. lots of bugfixes from beta 10.
It will be really awesome once it's finally finished. If only they can give the units AP instead of the 2 move mechanics then this would be a bit closer to the original series but with better graphics.

once you've tried it, you won't go back to vanilla.. It's a totally different game.

Is it as hard as they claim it to be?

The terror missions are hard since you could activate a pod of around 8 aliens at once but still very manageable with the right team. The only hard time I've had so far is getting 2 terror missions 2 days apart when I failed to shoot down the raiding alien craft. With a few injured troops in my ace team and the rest still on a 2 day fatigue rest, I had to settle with a mash up of available troops. Needless to say, it didn't go too well.

Oh, and in terror missions, it isn't enough to just kill all the aliens. you have to save more civilians than the aliens can kill otherwise you'd still get a panic penalty. So no more sitting back and waiting for the aliens to come to you.

One question,

in Vanilla, once a country resigns from XCOM Organization, they'll never come back. Will the same here in the mod or can we get the country back somehow?

the country can be won back by doing an alien base attack on said country.. You need to deploy a satellite and you need a skeleton key to do it. =)
