The price looks normal for me here in the USA. I do think it's funny you would start off the thread with "I don't know what scam they are trying to pull but their actions are very shady" as it's obviously a bug and not intended. I'm sure it will be fixed as soon as they are aware of it. It's currently not available to purchase as well as not being able to activate in a lot of regions.

I read your other comments and saw you updated the OP. With how you had it was originally worded you were pretty much calling Fanatical or whoever(publisher devs etc.) scammers, so it's good you edited it.
I notice a lot of people on the net today call things a scam where it's not. With a scam it would be a scheme or plan, like for example someone calling old people and saying they are the IRS to intentionally mislead them to get their money.
With what happened on Fanatical I don't think it's intentional at all, just an accident. If you ended up even accidentally buying that for a crazy price, Fanatical support would have refunded the money or the difference and gotten the dev/publisher to revoke the key.

Can you link an example of where you are seeing an ultimate edition for $90 on other platforms? Casual googling only shows normal and digital deluxe, at least in the US. Maybe this edition was cancelled, delayed, or never meant to be available in Canada at all. Pretty big leap to jump to "scam" over something that was probably just an honest error.

I'm seeing $70 for the Digitital Deluxe Edition* on Steam and Fanatical.

Of course it's not a scam but it feels scammy if they had initially sold it in Canada and the code wasn't going to work.
Here is the price on Steam. It's not called the "Ultimate Edition" but Fanatical called it that on their page.

I mean they could have received wrong information about the region locks, run out of keys for that region, not received keys they expected to get... Do you really think Fanatical was intentionally like, "Ooh now's our chance to sell keys to Canadians they can't use! bwahahaha"

Maybe they weren't aware to begin with. Maybe it was the publisher being shady by not fully disclosing all necessary information. It wouldn't be the first time we have seen this happen. Some publishers are too restrictive over the distribution of their own games.

I think the thing that most everyone commenting here is trying to get across is that jumping to "scam! shady! don't purchase from this company!" and making a post about it over something that is most likely an honest mistake is not doing much to help anyone. Companies are run by people, people make mistakes sometimes. Yeah it sucks that you couldn't get the deal on the game you wanted, but it doesn't mean anyone is out to get you.

They made a mistake, and corrected it. I don't know what's the problem.
They disabled it probably because they didn't have keys for Canadian customers.

However, I think the scam is overblown.
By the way, Sega's products usually show "page not found" when you jump to the product from the "banner on the top page" from Japan.

Lol, there is some bug in their API.. non programers should learn coding. There is always bug waiting to shown up. For what reason they have to change price, when they have no rights to sell this game in your region. There is conflict in reading from external database, because the game isnt set to display in your ragion. It is obvious that it can run another problems like price bug as we can see. Changing price do not solve anything. And for selling game you need to ask for rights to sell. Another company did it, Fanatical no. Wolrd is bigger and more complicated as you think. You cant just buy movie on BlueRay and project it for your friends in local cinema. You need pay to distribution company to project that movie.

It just feels scammy. This isn't just about the price being wrong. They have sold it in Canada for almost an entire day. I got an email the other day saying Sonic Frontiers was available and on sale. When I looked at their page the price for the Ultimate Edition was $999 plus a discount.
This is clearly a price bug because every other platform is selling it for $90. I messaged support about it and this was their response:

Instead of fixing the price issue they have disabled the game from being purchased in Canada. I consider this shady when every other store including Steam has it available. You might ask me why I haven't just gone to another store for it. That's because of the discount Fanatical was offering while other stores were not. This makes me wonder why they would have sold the game to Canadian customers in the first place when they knew the keys were region locked. smh
edit: after discussing this it looks more like a publisher issue.
