Do you regret paying so much
Guild Wars 2 was awesome man! I've not played the first one and when this was announced I was hyped. I really liked how alive the world felt. Still think it's a great MMO if you want to dip your toes in it. I stopped a few months before the announcement of the first expansion. Sinked in that game good amount of time.
It's a lot of money you've put in, but do you like your figurine?

Same here πPlayed an Elementalist and enjoyed the first story campaign. Haven't really played since then though. I did however play a ton of the original GW, and just recently collected all 30 rewards in Hall of Monuments. So maybe I'll return to GW2 some day and enjoy my rewards :) Can't really afford any expansions now though.
I have barely touched the figurine or all the other stuff tbh. It's still almost "like new". But yes, it is definitely one of the nicest collectors ed's out there.

Never played the original. I played as Ranger. I enjoyed the game so much that I joined the RolePlaying Community there. I still have the story of my character. I've wrote a whole description here. I've had so much fun taking the time to write detailed the character.
What's interesting, I used to carry the looks from a MMO to another. Long silver haired elf, with blue eyes. Started in Aion (picture 1). The second is from Guild Wars 2, the third is from Blade and Soul. Last one is from Black Desert, who was my last MMO as of today.

Wow, I admire the dedication. I often join RP servers myself, because I enjoy the people/vibe more, and I casually play along...
... But, I'm too much of an Alt'oholic to focus on such depth, and I love playing all the classic rpg archetypes. Except for a big lunkering brainless warrior. They tend to bore me π Buuut I'm getting older, maybe it's about time to equip that greatsword and spin-to-win.
Long live Shevy ! :)

Same, I've never been into RP, but once I joined, it was a whole different world to explore. Where you'd leave your chatting and imagination to do the trick.

Started as a Great-sword warrior first and fell in love with the archer/ranger class in pretty much any video game since Aion. I never knew I'd like it. I've not been into mages much. Even today, I associate myself as a true archer/ranger.
If you look at my logo, it's a representation of an arrow. The class definiteness me somehow. The blue color is the eyes and white is the hair color, basically the theme color.
Long live Shevy ! :)
Not called anymore like that lol π€£ Transitioned to Vasharal or Vash. π

Most games of that caliber and MOBA's have the same techniques. Don't regret it. Better to spend it on that then on drugs or alcohol. ππ»π Unless you drank and got stoned while playing Apex Legend. Then you might as well blame them. π€£π±

My most expensive purchase was Chrono Trigger on the SNES. Square-Enix didn't sell it in Europe then so I had to import it. No regrets though, it was worth it.
If I count all the DLCs the complete package of Paradox Interactive wins easily. I've played every GSG they made since 2001.

Bioshock Infinite Pre-Order back in 2013 when they were trying to make pre-orders actually give you something. It came with a discount and a free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown so it was a pretty good deal at the time and those were both games I was highly interested in.
Costed 30 pounds (I was in the UK at the time).
Of course later 2K would go on to be probably the most DCL-abusing publisher out there so... yeah... despite liking both games a lot I don't see myself ever breaking my "deep discount or no deal" rule again.

Totally worth it! XCOM was and still is my favorite strategy turn-base series. I've not played YET Bioshock, but it's on my list.
Are you back in Bulgaria?

Well, like I said, I liked both games, but it would have been more efficient to just wait as usual.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown was later given away for free on at least one or two occasions so it's pretty clear 2K didn't value the base game too much other than as a way to get people to buy the expansion. Bioshock Infinite, of course, also got a Season Pass (though that one was more reasonably priced, I guess the devs got a bit more say on it).
2K also proceeded to get more and more abusive with their DLC practices over the years (I think the way they did Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel's Season Pass and XCOM 2's expansion were the breaking points for me), so I've gotten increasingly bitter about buying anything from them. <.<
Yeah, I "went back home" after finishing university about 5 years ago, thinking that might make the depression go away. (It did not. Everything just got worse. :D )

I can dare to say that the XCOM series has been a series they didn't have many issues when it comes to satisfaction of the player. Yes, it's not perfect, but both XCOM 1 & 2 are excellent games. Civilizations started having it's issues. Mafia 3 wasn't that great. 2K sports are meh and Bioshock that is quite good.

I don't blame you. Probably the only game I'd avoid, and I honestly want to play, is NBA. But people are constantly dissapointed. Unless I get my hands on a free copy, I don't think I'll ever play a NBA game since 2006.

One of my first Steam purchases was the βValve Completeβ package (for the Portal and Half-Life games) back before I understood the Steam Sale phenomenon. $100 for a few games I was interested in, and a whole pile of others I wasnβt. Not the value I look for these days.

Path of Exile 1000+ (bad devs, never again)
CS GO 1500+ (can't say it wasn't worth it)
Multiple different physical editions of Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and 2 around 1500. (one of my favorite games from my childhood, I collect physical games)
One of my biggest regrets was pre-ordering hitman absolution. It wasn't terrible, but like 1 month after I bought it, the price was already down to $12 on gmg I think so I was like, really?

That hurst. I think a game should keep it's original price 3-6 months the same. I would be upset too.

There were a lot of problems with the game. Things like the constant adding of new microtransactions, but them not fixing any of the other issues, the servers have always been lagging, so people die sometimes from absolutely nothing. To put it simply, imagine being between levels 90 to 100 and dying to something invisible because the lag didn't process it, you've just lost an hour of progress, because the xp reverts back. Not the biggest deal, but you'd be surprised how often it can happen. Rather than enjoy the game at level 90, you'll always be on edge that you'll be dying any second now from something you couldn't dodge if you wanted to. There were other issues, like the "different" leagues all ended feeling the same(if you read their mechanics you'll see they all play out as a variation of the ones done in the past to some degree, it's never a completely new one, just a variation). At the end of the day, the game has 10 acts, and you are right they update it, but when the only updates they do is basically changing nothing, it makes me thing of that far cry 3 scene with the "definition of insanity".
Regarding mtx, I remember at some point they pushed out a patch where they let people sacrifice up to 5 of your duplicate mtx, with a chance to get another duplicate mtx, with a much lower value. So you could sacrifice 5x mtx worth $80 each, a nice $400 value, and end up getting a housing decoration worth like $3. This was in response to people complaining they're getting so many duplicates from the $3 mtx boxes. Of course, within a day they removed this update, we don't know if they also removed the person who proposed the dumb idea. Also of course, they never allowed users to exchange their duplicate mtx for something they don't already have. They're also not tradeable, so it's not like you can exchange them with other people to get what you want and trade for other things either, see what I mean? In that sense at least CS GO has thought about it's players letting them trade their stuff. GGG just didn't care.
On top of that, the game has like 150 different skills, but every single league, a select 5 to 10 or so, have always been at the top of the list. For instance, Necromancer, Cyclone, Bladefall, Lacerate, Vortex, Blade Vortex, 1 or 2 trap skills maybe a few more. It's just very specific skills. It's just skills that no matter what patch we're on, they maintain their strength, and there have been complaints. I don't think necromancer has been nerfed to the point where it hasn't been in the top 3 builds every single league since 2014. But something like cobra leash which they introduced like 3 years ago I think, hasn't ruled once, and it's a pretty sick skill.
They also sold themselves to Tencent, I believe tencent either owns like 80% or 100% now of poe, and things have gotten worse and worse since then. Higher mtx prices and more mtxs per week/month(you'd think that's a good thing, but again, where's the game fixes, wheres the better servers, wheres the content updates, none, just more mtxs). Players always wanted an in game auction house to buy and trade items without having to alt tab and go to a website to see what people list. It's kinda insane that's how it's done by the way, it feels very 1960's. Strangely enough not in china. China got an auction house in game, not the rest of the world.
Sorry you got me riled up. I could keep going, I left them a negative review on steam that doesn't go this detailed but points out a few more things that bothered me at the time, it's a great game, it's fun to play for a few hours, but it's lead by a team of people who just don't care anymore for its users but just to take the money so I'd advise anyone against spending a single cent in it. (of course, without buying the mtx stashes you can't sell on the website so you need to spend at least $20 to sell on the website, lmao, you can buy stuff though so that's how it always starts and that's how it started for me due to a friend, had to get some boxes to sell stuff, a few more boxes to store more loot, I'll buy this cool armor, and then I found myself going over 1000).
PS: Chances are you wont encounter the lag issues in single player, so if you wanna play it like that go for it, just don't play hardcore because at max level you'll get killed by nothing and its probably gonna feel very disappointing hence why there's thousands of youtube videos of people dying in hardcore.
Regarding hitman, thankfully the other ones after were much better games and I got those at a deal and it kinda balances out.

Woah! It's crazy how little I know about what's happening in the game. I thought the reason why the game was still carrying on was because the developers were at least decent and putting a lot of effort getting what players want. I'm sorry you've had to struggle with that.

Oh yeah! I remember some games I've played having the same issue. It's important that you should be able to trade it either with an NPC or other players at least for different rewards.

That can make the whole diversity built feel less important because you could follow the basic guide and get yourself a strong class/character. I get that, and I agree, there should be more freedom if there's 150 skills.

Wait what? There's two different games in China and the rest of the world? I mean, the developers are from New Zealand so, that makes things really strange.

No harm intended and I understand. It got really emotional because you've really invested time and money in this game and you feel it didn't turn out the way you envisioned it. I didn't know it had so many flaws.
My wife and I wanted to play it. It worked well for me, but my wife's game would constantly crash, so we didn't bother to play it after that. I was just curious to hear what people have to think about it. I keep getting updates on Steam and I'm like: "Woah! This guys still update the game, that's amazing!" But didn't know that it' got some serious issues.

Generally when a new league launches it will have around 100k+ players, but in like 3 weeks they're already at like 60k, currently and it has been this way for a while, basically since new world relapsed(even though new world was a flop) with a league going on, not even at the end of the league, they're sitting at 10k players and peak 20k. It's pretty bad. Good game but unloved by devs, some people still play it, because it's addictive, and the gambling mtx mechanics that always make you want to collect all the mtx should honestly be considered fraud already.
It makes sense to make sure customers who choose to spend money in a free to play game do not get duplicates, because it shows the company or game at least cares about the customers whos investing in the game. This way, it's basically showing they don't care.
Regarding the skills it would just be better if either they rotated it or at least if each league certain updates they do to mechanics have effects on some skills that were weaker in the previous leagues, allowing other skills to shine here and there. Don't get me wrong, I love cyclone, it's super fun, but that's probably part because I don't die as much playing it as I would with weaker skills which never get a chance to shine. Any skill can be great, they just chose to make a select few op basically and then the rest are just trash skills, so then it doesn't matter if there's new content, because the old skills are always the best.
I too was surprised to learn about the chinese and rest of the world versions. The chinese version is more oriented around fun basically. For instance, there is a pet you can buy that picks up currency for you. It doesn't sound major but when you think that some people have probably 10 000 different currency items in the first month its probably nice to save some carpal tunnel. Why is this not on the US version, no one knows. All the stats are basically a little boosted, making it much more reasonable to do certain end game content and explore on your own rather than follow the same builds. Most people in the us version will never do the end game bosses and especially not using any of the skills not on the op list. Not sure if you're familiar with the censorships but things like skulls and certain symbols are not allowed there so basically skulls there are banned so they have to make them zombies. That happens in wow too, there's videos on that. That is one of their losses.
And yes the random crashes and ridiculous loading times were part of my issues. But yeah the constant updates are really just microtransactions, they honestly just make a "new league" every 3 months(I think now it's 5 or 6 months) and then sometime in the first week they basically nerf every item that is good. It's their focus to make sure people can't find an overpowered build rather than fix the crashes and disconnects and loading times.
As for single player yes, there's a few different game modes, there's Standard, Leagues and Races. Standard is basically a combination of the favorite previous leagues but you get to keep your characters, you just have to know you're never playing the newest content. There's races, which I don't play, but it's basically a race to a certain level or to a certain objective usually sponsored by a player or organization. Something like get to level 90 first and you get this reward, could be $1000 or something like that, could be an in game item, could be a "cool good job". And lastly there's leagues, which I liked the most, where you're basically playing the newest content even though it's really repetitive and just a spin off something they already did in the past. They always turn the tree upside down basically so everything becomes a bit of a mess(hence the possibility of op builds and the immediate nerfs, because the devs don't test) but even in leagues, you have 4 league types, there's the default league and the hardcore leagues. The default league has multiplayer basically and if you die you just lose xp, but you can check an option for "Solo Self Found"(meaning you're alone in the world and it puts you in a separate league which would be like Default SSF(meaning default league singleplayer), you can't trade, or anything else), and then there's hardcore which also has hardcore multiplayer, you can see players and trade, but if you die, your character gets sent to standard. So you can keep your character but never use that character again in a league. And also solo self found hardcore, which is basically as hard as it can get. To not die a single time to level 100, and also get lucky enough to find the items you need to make a proper build it's definitely for people with way too much time on their hands, and I have 2600 hours, and I never tried it.

Oh shoot! I forgot that I purchased the game and never actually played New World. I hope by the time I get to play it, I get to enjoy it still. I hated the queuing system there. We're in 2022 for crying out loud. Why do we need queues?

This reminded me of League of Legends. New champions always were overpowering the older ones. People needed to adjust to the changes and due to patch notes, there were always imbalanced champions that would become suddenly overpowered due to a build or something. This kept somehow the game fresh, but really, what Riot wanted to do was to balance the game out somehow.
Now if you're game contains old classes that are always strong and useful, it doesn't matter to create new ones, unless you create some unbalancing in the game. Some people like it, and some people hate it. You can't really please everyone.

Yes, I am aware of all the censorship. Is the Chinese server the mains server? I remember playing Aion, and the Korean server, would get 6-12 months prior content that the west wouldn't. I hated that about Asian games, because they wouldn't provide an overall balanced content distribution.
And yes the random crashes and ridiculous loading times were part of my issues. In reality, you'd never want an overpowered build in a game like that, because it kills the fun. But they should have priority to make the game issues less of an problem.

Yep I enjoyed the beta to new world at the same time it was also a really grindy game and I already play too many grindy games and didn't want to wait in que. Then all the problems came. I had the game bought ready to play but I refunded it.
True about league, I've played a bit of league too, and that's basically what they do, every time a new champion gets released, they're somehow much stronger and it takes a few months to nerf them down. That's always bothered me. I didn't like the aspect of this champion can counter this champion to the degree where if you have the wrong champ in top lane like volibear against yi for instance, it's basically game over because once yi gets fed enough he absolutely deletes anyone. and what's volibear gonna do against yi.
GGG is a New Zealand company, and I think the game was first released in the US. But Tencent has bought 80% of them as far as I know. Tencent also owns 100% of league of legends, 40% of epic games, 11.5% of PUBG, 5% of Ubisoft, 5% of Activision, and they own a bunch of other games, mobile games, etc. The way tencent's business works is basically they find an already successful game, like path of exile, they say we'll give you 10 million for 80% of the company, which means from that point on, 80% of the revenue goes to tencent and 20% stays with ggg. But, the big ceo's of ggg got 10 million so who cares about the small developers and whatever. To put it simply, they're leechers and in the long term, they hurt developers. But the first wave of devs get a bonus, they retire move to a new project and the new wave that comes working on the project has to work under tencent at 20% of the pay if that makes sense. So then games like path of exiles end up feeling abandoned since the original devs start leaving, and work starts getting outsourced to cheaper places, like Grinding Gear Games did when they outsourced to china. Of course, outsourcing also takes the soul out of the game, which is why the new leagues feel kinda souless compared to the old ones. Like I said they all feel the same, as if they run out of ideas. Rather than expand the story, they just do a spin off every single time.
Yeah, POE had a build called an Aura Bot for like 2 or 3 years in a row and it was broken, you can look up builds, it was immortal basically, I didn't mention it because it was extremely expensive to get, and kinda like I said you had to go to a website to buy the items, this build oftenly involves buying currency with real money then buying the items so it's pretty much cheating. Most people who make these kind of builds are like streamers through "donations" from their "fans", or others who get these kind of items in the first 3 weeks or something like that through whoever knows what means like bots, or farming 16 hours a day for weeks to afford them. The build was nerfed mostly into oblivion so that's a good thing and it upset a lot of people because honestly all they did was go in the middle of the map and press a button. It would lag the server so bad that the NPC enemies could not react while the aoe of the player would degen the enemy health and basically exponentially raise the stats even though the whole base of the game is against stacking stuff. Necromancer is another build that stacks a bunch of aura's and stats for instance and that's what makes it so strong.
Well the game has 10 acts, each act basically like a story if you really want to follow it, and theres a few side quests. It tells a story. But you finish those pretty fast at level 60 - 75 or so, and then you just go on to farm maps basically for currency and to get better gear and to do other objectives like delve in the mines, or do special unique maps,

Yep I enjoyed the beta to new world at the same time it was also a really grindy game and I already play too many grindy games and didn't want to wait in que. Then all the problems came. I had the game bought ready to play but I refunded it.

It's the nature of the game and I'm surprised it kept me that long. I used to play as Jihn, in the bottom lane as ADC as that was my main role. I felt the same with some other mid-laners, who would wipe the floor with me and my support if wrongly fed, even if I had a good time in bottom lane.

You're right about it. I've completely forgot that League was owned by Tencent. It didn't bother me, but I had to stop the game because it's simple: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is the sign of insanity.
My time spent with singleplayer games is a lot more valuable now. I enjoy some great stories and gameplay mechanics I've not experienced in years.

It's like Diablo 3, in a way as I can see.

I'm also trying to complete some goals in some online games to have more time to spend on single player ones since I really want to complete a ton of games in my backlog and go through a bunch of different stories. Going in every day to do the same repetitive tasks gets really exhausting after a while and I'm at that point where I think I need a long break or at least to slow down immensely. I also need todo other things with my time. Thankfully I'm almost there with my Final Fantasy grind, about 89 levels left out of 1800 so I'm almost done. I'm not going to farm the super rare achievements some people go for because some of them take 3 years to farm and it's just not worth it to me.
You are correct, it is indeed like diablo 3, in fact poe was heavily influenced by diablo 2. It's just diablo 3 was not considered as good as poe. The end game of poe was a lot more entertaining than diablo. It's hard to describe but there's something fun about that arcade style where you start a map and you just go and blow everything up and items drop everywhere and there's a boss at the end, and you just keep doing that in the hope you get some rare item. It is fun, but I couldn't do it every single league anymore and the technical issues set me back. If you wanna play sometime let me know, The next league starts sometime in may I believe, I just go pretty fast the first 3 days of the league at least if I do play and that depends if the league really interests me, the past 5 or 6 haven't though.

I sometimes people see sharing their opinion of why should you play a type or genre otherwise you're not a true gamer. If you enjoy what you play whatever the game type it's strictly your business because gaming should be a great source of relaxation and focus training. It has great amounts of benefits for your brain some games.

Diablo was designed to be a singleplayer game with multiplayer elements. POE is a multiplayer that got inspired by Diablo and improved the multiplayer a lot.

It was Sims 4 for me as well, with all the DLC that was available at the time. That cost me about $200.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, that's EA for you. It's a great game, but keeping up with the DLC will make you bankrupt. I got the base game for free and didn't pay mare than 50% for any of the DLC I bought, and it was still the most I've ever spent on a game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep. They price this game like that because there's nothing like the Sims. Paralives will take years of development to get to the baseline of the Sims. They will innovate some aspects, but there's the AI that, dumb as it is, it's most complex of a lot of games.

ESO crown packs, upgrades, and the monthly subscription. I've spent more on this game than any other and now I try to avoid those mechanics whenever I can. ($400+?)
For one single actual game though... hmm... Assassins Creed Odyssey gold edition for $29.99 maybe? I'm pretty cheap and stay behind the curve a couple years to get discounts, working on my backlog keeps me too busy for new titles anyway.
Buying bundles and on summer/winter sales is enough. For now.
EDIT:
Wait no, it was when I bought Gw2 when it first came out for $60(?) at gamestop. I played it for years and had a ton of fun, quit when it went F2P though. Still have the two CD's and code that came in the box.

Paying $30 for a game is cheap if you think about it how much you've spent on an MMO.

GW2 is by far one of my favorite MMO's of all times. What was your favorite class? I was the Human Ranger.

Sylvari Necromancer! My favorite weapon is the Spire of the Sunless! My second favorite class was Thief, also played by a Sylvari.
Also had a Charr, I played ranger but I wasn't very good at it. I played a couple other races to map complete but they weren't memorable and I didn't make any backstory.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses + Expansion Pass. $85 on the Switch. I played it a lot so it was worth it.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon + Happy Home Designer for the same price. Also played it a lot.
I bought most Nintendo franchises at full price because they rarely go on sale and it's never more than 30% on the rare chance they do.
I don't think I ever bought an AAA PC game at full price. Even back in the day, I usually bought used CDs. Mom bought her Atari/Sega/Playstation games at full price because she would buy one and play it for months before buying another. I couldn't do that. I get burned out easily and I don't like replaying games (she replayed Spyro 7 times in a row and played it several times again later!), so I needed to have several games at any given time. That habit persisted into adulthood and I now only buy on sale except when it's not possible/not worth it, like first party Nintendo.

Yeah, do you remember when they said that Nintendo was for kids? Well kids can't afford to buy games at full prices. But people value more a game when they pay a lot more and I think that's the marketing strategy about it.

I used to play a few games for months, if not years. Different times. Now, I tend to finish the games because they are not as difficult to overcome and it's mainly the reason why I don't replay them unless they are sandbox or simulations and are the type I enjoy replaying.

I quit back in Wrath and haven't really looked back. I did get a 7 day trial from a friend back in Cataclysm, or some other expansion, but it didn't really catch my fancy and stayed away since. Don't miss the monthly subscription, though its not so bad compared to buying a new top tier game every month instead.

Chm. I don't really care for prices if game amuse me. If we don't count computer alone, it might be Planet zoo, bought it in first tiny sales and and then about 5 dlcs, even now I am looking forward buy rest of dlcs when I will be in mood play. Another big purchase might be Elex 2, in total 250β¬. Same Dragon age series, origins and 2 I bought on steam, then all three games on steam, one copy bought as gift and agin about 100-200β¬ of merchendise. So probably DA I spent most on.

I can recommend wait on Elex 2, still got a lot stuff to fix, I lost a lot content thanks to bugged dialogs. Not even saying I played 40h before they fixed camera which deleted every texture that was close, even npcs in cutscenes and let just parts of their bodies. Definitely not what I would call finished game.

For games its Escape from Tarkov, Edge of Darkness edition.
Bought it in October 2017, it was in Alpha I think at the time. The game is still not released, is in Beta now and runs rather well even if theres still issues. I paid β¬154,41 for it.
For stuff its (disregarding house-car-motorcycle-vacaitions-etc) it's my present laptop, a ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703HS. Cost me appr β¬4500, but worth every penny. I travel a lot in my work, I'm usually away from home more than half the year every year, so a laptop is the only practicable solution for me. And this badboy sports a RTX 3080 so it will last a while (I really hope....).

It's a shame Tarkov is not being launched on Steam too. I'd probably check the game if it wasn't so isolated.

For me was Two Point Hospital Healthy Edition for β¬28 something. And ofc more DLCs appeared so I still don't have the complete game.
Expensive? I rarely spend more than β¬10 on any game, and I actually have few over that line.
When I get some income I plan to get Factorio (never discounted iirc) and Rim World (only 10% off ever).
(I'm not counting the ~β¬300 on The Lord Of The Rings Online through 10 years.)

Woah! You're the first player I've met who mentions this game. Was a great experience?

Yes, LOTRO is a great experience. Despite graphics being somewhat outdated compared to recent MMORPGs, the game is incredibly beautiful, and much more if you like and know some of Middle-Earth or Tolkien lore. Lots of arcane references, some new ideas (ones done with more fortune than others), and plenty of content to play the way you choose: solo, with friends, with unknown people, classes, different builds...
Special mention to the now large amount of areas and expansions. You might not like one area and like another, you might hate the one others love, but there'll always be places and quests that you'll enjoy. Lots of achievements in each area to grind for virtual money to spend in the shop, those achievements also give titles you can use with your character which is fully customizable of course.
The game is F2P and you can grind some stuff to get new areas for that virtual money (if you didn't get the "all areas for free" promotions). Only a small amount of thing is behind real money payment actually, but doing an one-time payment is worth it if you think you'll play long. The rest, you choose, you can really play a lot, and i mean a lot of a lot, with a minimal money investiment. While there is stuff that can give advantage, I don't consider it a P2W game.
The playerbase is pretty faithful and while it has diminished with time, there's still plenty of players to do stuff. Community can be somewhat toxic sometimes due to one or two trolls sometimes, but compared to others it's usually fine, and you can ignore annoying people, beggars, etc.
Do I recommend it? Yes, damn it, +11000 hours in it with different characters since 2010. And you can play some of the starter areas before doing anything and decide if it's something for you.
(I've not played since end of 2019 due to personal issues, but I doubt things have changed much).

Without a doubt! I don't think there's any other Middle Earth game that can compete with that level of lore.

I like achievements, because they push you to play the game and creates objectives and rewards.

This is normal to find in any online game. I don't think there's a game that doesn't have a community of cheaters, hackers, grievers or trolls.

Woah! π± That's something I've never managed to achieve. The best I got was 305 hours in Warframe. That's some serious dedication.
(I've not played since end of 2019 due to personal issues, but I doubt things have changed much).
Thank you for letting me know. I have the game in my library, but due to it's graphical outdateness (if that's an word lol π ) I've not considered playing it.

They have updated the avatars and rendering with new stuff, and often read in dev diaries about texture reworks and updates in older areas. You can still find low res stuff in places like northern Angmar, but nonetheless they are trying to update graphics and keep enhancing the experience. So not as outdated graphically as you migh think. Just give it a try.
And have I mentioned the music? AMAZING.

Anarchy Online - I had a subscription for that, on auto-renew, I played...4 years? Never canceled the subscription, so it ran another 3 years till my credit card expired. 15ish dollars per months I think, but could be more...so...7 x 12 x 15 = $1260
I played more years after that, but for free.
I owned an Atari Jaguar, those games were pretty pricey, not Neo Geo pricey though :)
Donkey Kong Country on SNES, 169 in my local currency, which was close to 100 dollars at the time?
Zelda - Ocarina of Time and many others on N64 - 80 bucks each maybe?

Hi and welcome back to another random question.
Today's topic is quite simple: What was the most expensive purchase you've ever made? This could be a collection you've bought at a really pricy time because you couldn't contain yourself not to buy it or you could mention a game you've bought that maybe is no longer on Steam and had to buy it on a key-shop or something.
My personal one is The Sims 4 with all it's expansions. I've bought pretty much every major update until Cottage Living (which I didn't even play yet - lol).
Anyway, what was yours?
The price for ALL the expansions is Β£515.08, without the game, that costs Β£35. I didn't pay that much, but I've paid for sure Β£150. π¨
Update: I came to the realization that I've spent a lot more in League of Legends, which is no surprise. I have played that game for more than 4 seasons, that's about 4 years, every single day, if I could. Based on my calculations I've spent Β£231.55. π³π
