Hi and welcome back to another random question.

Today's topic is quite simple: What was the most expensive purchase you've ever made? This could be a collection you've bought at a really pricy time because you couldn't contain yourself not to buy it or you could mention a game you've bought that maybe is no longer on Steam and had to buy it on a key-shop or something.

My personal one is The Sims 4 with all it's expansions. I've bought pretty much every major update until Cottage Living (which I didn't even play yet - lol).

Anyway, what was yours?

The price for ALL the expansions is £515.08, without the game, that costs £35. I didn't pay that much, but I've paid for sure £150. 😨

Update: I came to the realization that I've spent a lot more in League of Legends, which is no surprise. I have played that game for more than 4 seasons, that's about 4 years, every single day, if I could. Based on my calculations I've spent £231.55. 😳😅

Do you regret paying so much

Yes, it was a lot of money 😭
No, I've played this game a lot and was totally worth it 😄

Forza Horizon 5 Premium pack, about 80€ with discount.

Woah, that's not much, but I've heard from so many people that this game is amazing. I'm planning to play Forza Horizon 4 before, but the steep price still makes me consider it even on a discount. Is it worth getting the DLC's or can it be played with the standard edition just fine?

I had Forza Horizon 4 base game only and was enjoyable. You can get Xbox Game Pass for 1€/$ for one month or 3 months and try both games, then decide after.

Never spent much on games but I've spent a lot of money related to games. Highest would be a cd burner...back when they were relatively new, required a particular scsi card, burn speed I think was 10x max. Blank CDs back then were $10 aud each, the card and drive cost me $3000 aud. My friend had this awesome idea we were going to make heaps of money burning cds, barely made a cent off it, burnt a lot of games to cd though and wasted a lot of blank cds too.

Oh man this so sad. I mean I remember back in my country, there were guys renting or selling burned CD's for games and they would make a couple of bucks.

I personally got myself a whole series of The Sims 2 that I've purchased from this guy to just play have it for a while. I remember when you had to have a CD inside to run some games.

Nowadays my PC doesn't even have a CD/DVD reader. 😅

Football Manager, I now plan to buy it every 2 years, because in one year, there aren't that many changes in game. I pre-order it and usually pay about 40 to 45 euro for it. Currently got the 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022. Though I think a few were gifted by my brother, and I think one or two I bought at a later date, so the price was way down by then.

I've never played it, but I assume that you've enjoyed and still enjoying your time. Which one has been for you the best of the series?

I just checked and I spent 1430 € on League of Legends..
In hindsight that's kind of embarrasing. I mean I'm still playing the game quite regularly, but I would have the same experience if I hadn't spent any money
I know people who spent even more on League.. still I could've gotten a new GPU for that money 😔

it's insane how you don't even notice how much money you pour into something when it's happening over years and years
In season 5/6 I would just get every skin I kind of liked and I kept buying more rp whenever I was low.. also I kind of fell for the hextech crafting lootboxes when that was released and bought quite a few 🙃

I feel you man, but the skins and stuff in that game are so damn cool. What is your favorite purchase in the game? Let's put this whole investment in a more positive sight.

It's why I made this thread, to kinda give you a retrospective of how you spend and where you spend most of your money. It's easy to get hooked in in a shopping frenzy and I'm guilty myself. My account value on Steam could buy me a car. 😅

favorite purchase is really hard to say tbh..
because with all the new skins coming out there is constantly something that's looking better than the skins I already own
but I can gladly say that I haven't been spending money on league for probably about a year and I'm still getting plenty new skins through mission rewards in hextech crafting

but thinking back to a purchase I'd probably say the Candy King Ivern, because I had a lot of fun playing that champ when he got released and I instantly bought the release skin 😁

yeah steam library is a whole other beast.. my account value is less than half of yours, but it just feels weird seeing how much I spent and how few of the games I've actually played

That skin suits him so well. His such a goofy, yet nice character.

I really wish League of Legends would come to Steam for one particular reason. Riot could profit from maybe using the Steam Deck.

Can get you really thinking and maybe even value more your Steam account. For me it's by far one of the most important things online.

that's true, especially now that they introduced challenges that would translate well to steam achievements

but I heard they were exploring bringing wild rift (the mobile version) to consoles, maybe to switch aswell

That may work as well for Steam Deck too. I am down for it as I've not played it on my phone more than the tutorial.

Planet Zoo on the release for 44,99 euros. I mean it is a good game now, but back then it was nearly unplayable for me, it lagged so much that I couldn't even finish the tutorial properly...
And because of this of course I didn't pay attention to the game for months, and well now it got bundled. So yeah, I kinda regret this.

I'm sorry to hear that. I bought the game before the bundle too. I gave it away on a giveaway recently.

Did they optimize the game or you got yourself a better PC?
