Hi,

I have been playing CS GO for a while now and I am just curious, is there any way to lower my ping and reduce lag? I have been getting around 60 - 150 pings lately. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks XD

Get a better internet connection. Stop downloads...the usual stuff.

Then your internet is the issue, there isn't anything you can do about it unless switch to a faster service.

But hey, cheer up. I get constantly 150-400 ping in CS:GO lately.

I think the lag is coming from my computer. I have a really bad computer. I need to upgrade it soon :/

Is there a way i could stop unimportant services without manually doing it by myself?

lag =/= ping

So is the issue your ping, or your framerate? :P
If it's the ping, it's internet-related. If it's your framerate, then it's your computer's performance.

There are multiple softwares to boost your framerate. A decently popular one is IOBit Game Booster, or Razer Game Booster.
It would be wise to note that performance boosting softwares may affect your computer in a negative way. I had this happen to me, it automatically setup a new power setting that caused my power supply to shut off constantly while gaming.

But as long as you check over the settings, everything should be fine. There's no guarantee that it will help your PC run games better, though. I don't use performance boosters myself, so don't expect everything I say to be absolutely accurate.

only problem then is week networking card. it is most likey youre intarnet plan from isp or a week router. and if alot use the intarnet at the same time it can slow it down. but if you is on wifi then i recomend test useing a wired insead.

Calling your ISP may help, worth a try.

I think you could do with a better upload speed. I get this http://www.speedtest.net/result/4253817844.png and I rarely experience any lag.

  1. Since your speeds are good you could have some sort of malicious software running in the background or something trying to update. Also, other family members using the network (or strangers if your WIFI is unprotected).

  2. Your network port could be starting to fail (unlikely but hey).

  3. Your ISP could be throttling that traffic for whatever reason (probably unlikely)

  4. Or it could just be that you are getting put in to laggy servers or servers physically located further away than you used to.

Skype itself uses allot of memory as far as i know,
Check also your task manager ( CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) if u use chrome while having your browser not on its still loaded in your memory llike 8 times, you should close them all.

Set your cl_maxuploadrate or something similar, there's guides on setting rates and stuff in CS:GO.

Obviously, close any programs in the background - torrents, Steam downloads, Skype, Google Voice/any messaging/voip, etc.

QoS and port forwarding in your router (assuming you own your router) may work, but this is debatable.
