But no sales outside of upgrades? Greedy companies might not like that because they can't milk it as much as a whole.

It is. An open arm, welcoming product is where creativity and potential at their highest. I think getting such kind of phone is perfect. I can easily change and upgrade the phone however i wish. No longer bounds by the decision of a phone provider. Cost efficiency and top notch technology can now be merged together .

It's a great idea but here is where it gets wrong.. "Companies work together to create the best phone in the world"
The companies selling phones don't want to get involved in such a project.. they want you to buy the newest iteration of their product every year. They don't care about the environmental side of things they care about their shareholders and profit. Sad but true.
