You can see every current live and future upcoming promotion on Steam via this Site by SteamDB. It is reliable, easy to use and shows if you can Keep the game or if it is a promotion only running for a certain amount of days.

SteamDB. You don't have to check somewhere else.

The last weeks the deals section got flooded by threads regarding promotions. Most times we have two, three or even more threads for one promotion because people don't search before they create a new thread and don't pay attention what already has been posted. Everyone wants to be the first to "spread the news" and creates a new thread.

That's not neccessary.

Just bookmark this page by SteamDB and visit it on a daily basis. You will never again miss any free promotion that is running on Steam.

It has become a pita to browse the deals section for real deals, even for bundle threads, because it gets flooded by those unneccessary threads. There is no need for them. You only need the linked site. Hell, maybe even bump this thread when a new promotion pops up so that we have everything in one place.
But please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop flooding the deals section. No need for that. SteamDB already does the job for all of us.

Thank you.

Do we need a new thread for any current free promotion when we could just as easily have a look at SteamDB and find everthing we need in mere seconds?

Aw, HELL no!

The title of the thread bothers me and I'm not sure why, it feels like an ad.

Reserved. I might need it in the future. Who knows.

Does that list only Steam or will it include Steam offers from other sites like Humble and keys from the devs?

There will of course also be people that just won't know of the site when it matters.

That site shows only offers from the steam store.

Like at46 said, only for Steam. SteamD(ata)B(ase) reads the Steam API and thus can track the Steam store thoroughly, but does not track other stores.

I'm totally fine with one thread for promotions running outside of Steam. For promotions running at Steam, meh, I'd say the SteamDB site suffices.
I guess one thread for a promotion running at Steam wouldn't irk me as well. But what has to stop are the common three or four threads that are made for one single promotion. I'd like to see you close the second, third etc. ones or merge them with the first one :)

Yeah, i'd rather have a thread "TRIPLE A GAME FREE FOR THE WEEKEND NOW" than to browse through 500 free weekend games on SteamDB

The way it looks like right now is caused by massive amount of time limited demos during the games festival. If you scroll down to the upcoming promotions, you can derive how compact it usually looks like.

I like to read the comments on them sometimes too, some users have a mini "review" or if they recommend it, what parts they found annoying etc. Sure sometimes multiple threads are "Ugh! Not again!" but I mean, announcements from every group on my Steam activity thread happens, some game site post notices. I just take it as "You can't miss it!" reminders.

Most of the recent bunch were from Epic's coupon I believe, where people made threads just for one game minus coupon price. Maybe they'll be better condensed next time, we can learn.

That's why i like the threads ,little chats ,useful info ,a heads-up about something else we can get onboard with.
A key drop or code ,e.t.c.
But yeh ,multiple threads are annoying ,true but maybe it's a small price to pay ?
Though a good mod/s should be on top of that most of the time ,sadly they can't be around 24/7 so some do sneak through :)

This used to be very useful before Valve made hidden packages require a token to see. Was super easy to see future giveaways and kinda build up hype for them, right now it's nothing much than free weekend showcase. Meh.

I find it even more annoying that people are announcing freebies when the free event hasn't even started...
Like oh hey, cool, thanks for that. And then when it's actually on, no-one is bumping the thread(s) from a few days earlier, and you forget about it.

Amen, I've only started to notice/take issue with the promo threads recently because a number of them have been posted days and in one case months before the promotion went live. Those threads feel more like posters clambering to be first rather than provide useful information. It's really just these threads posted too far in advance that I take issue with. I do appreciate the work people put into informing others of gaming deals and freebies. I visit the deals section of SG several times a day because of the good work done by people like Sensualshakti.

Not true. SteamDb only covers parts of free games. There are still tons not in there.

This is about promotions. Games that are free for a limited time. Not games that are always free.

This looks like a typical sub which is usually visible at SteamDB.

https://steamdb.info/sub/461588/

What can happen is that the deal isn't scheduled in advance. In this case there can be a delay before it becomes visible in SteamDB.

Since June 3rd this might become the rule rather than the exception, though not quite sure:

Thanks for the insight. That's exactly my point. There are deals not covered by Steamdb, at least not until it becomes available. And I think we would all appreciate a little heads-up notice ahead, before spending any money in the store.

I agree the threads are getting a bit out of control, but centralization is even more cancerous. Hopefully we can find a middle ground where people still post threads but stop posting duplicates. Or maybe keep it all under a few threads, like one for free week-ends, one for new permanently free, +/- one for temporarily free to keep (although I wouldn't mind one thread per game for those)

It has become a pita to browse the deals section for real deals, even for bundle threads

If you follow the same logic, we could just send everyone to barter.vg or bundleupdates.com...

Whatever helps that the deals section is no longer flooded is fine with me. Lilly does such a great job, her threads need to stay visible.

Deals section need to be flooded, because this list is full with demos, not actual released, complete games you can try during weekends.

Don't find link very useful because it links all the demos out there.

Also, don't very like one sided poll.

Its better to avoid it altogether or give some real options to see if majority supports your view

because it links all the demos out there

As was explained multiple times in this thread already: It doesn't. The demos listed there now are part of the "Summer games festival". This is the only reason why they are there. Because the publishers/devs declared their games as "available for a limited time" (via a demo). Otherwise no demos are listed.

Your superlink has not announced about https://store.steampowered.com/app/242700/Injustice_Gods_Among_Us_Ultimate_Edition/. Why do you think users spam when they actually want to announce news.
