I've been getting a lot of invites to groups I've never heard of from people I've never spoken to on Steam recently as well. :S

It's probably because of the amount of games that we have on Steam. Most of the people doing the inviting and the admins of these groups have like 15 games and most are F2P games at that... Probably just looking to get free games.

Some groups just spam invites. I read the common thing is to report them. Whether it has results or not has not been confirmed.

Yea. I respond with an invite to my own group. Depending on how annoyed I'm feeling that day, sometimes I'll drop into their discussion section and say how annoying it is when people spam invites to public groups.

Joking of course, I've only once been befriended by a Polish person, I did not understand him though.

Getting those too, mostly from people that make money such way (it said so in their profiles). Especially annoying because I can't play multiplayer games anyway, due to my bad internet connection.

Yes, and random other groups too. It's gotten to the point that I wrote on my profile for them to stop bugging me but, hey, who the hell reads that when mass adding people nowadays. -.-
And it's even more annoying and stupid when they invite you to some random chat. But at least then you can go in and call them a bunch of pests. ^_^
