Humble gave me store credit because they can't re-stock my missing keys

I was thinking too that $6 isn't actually too bad but that's not the point. The point is, they can't provide the products you paid for and that is extremely sketchy. Makes me think twice before I want to buy another humble(d) bundle again.

I'm so glad I won this game and skipped that bundle entirely. it was pretty good.
Meanwhile March still has 3 keys out of stock.

Due to some (mostly Russian) shady devs abusing the system, Steam got stingy with its key generator tools. This isn't terrible in itself as they apparently do let developers restock if they show the receipts (ie. they're not flooding grey market), but it does mean third party companies cannot stock large quantities. Well, they also don't overstock since there's always a chance someone guesses correctly a key and thus replacements are needed. Buuuuut, when business relationships go down (for whatever reason), we're the ones getting shafted.

My take is that if I hadn't opened a ticket, they would have done nothing, even though they (apparently) already considered these particular keys permanently exhausted.

Between the retroactive change to their TOS and this -- just straight up shady.

No there were no indication that the monthly bundle was now "first come first serve" so it's indeed on them. Straight up illegal actually as you can't advertise a product and sell people half of it without warning.

Also what's the point of store credit if you are going to have to use it to buy keys they'll keep not giving to you?

Except you're only getting store credit for "part" of the money you already paid so technically it's money you already spent. They're not giving you anything for free, they're just allowing you to spend some of your money again... on their store, which is now known for not delivering keys.
So even if you do manage to get enough store credit to buy another game you actually want, there's no guarantee you'll get the game.

And let's also mention the fact that there is now a limit on how long the keys you don't want will be considered "owed" to you. For now it's 3 years but it may change to 6 months in a future silent update of their TOS.

That is the only key I'm "missing" currently, but since I've lived enough to see a restock for Whitethorn Showcase bundle after year and a half, I'm positive that we will see it for this game too.

Maybe you should check the price on the grey market and ask HB to give you the money to cover the transaction. After all these are their keys.

Yeah 2024 was especially ridiculous when it comes to "out of stock" keys in bundles.
Common wisdom says "the keys they sell in bundles have been negotiated at a bulk price with the devs so they are not the same keys that are in the store" but you know what? I don't care.
If they didn't want everyone to jump on their keys and try to redeem them all at once, they shouldn't have enacted a "new" policy that robs you from keys that are "too old" according to them all of a sudden.

Now they have to give us keys or money. They can't keep both and I don't care that they have to pay them at full price instead of the discount they got when they negotiated their bundles and lowballed the number on purpose.

I got a similar copy-paste response for 16 games out of 12 bundles, including those for which it is known that there will be no more keys, which makes this text about waiting for the keys (which after three years they officially refuse to try to provide) even more ridiculous and somewhat false:

Humble Bundle

I did not immediately activate some games that I wanted to give to friends later, because I like to make different small surprises at different times; and some, like "Persona", for which I bought a month at full price, I decided to activate after I completed the previous part (very in vain, haha). I am extremely disappointed with Humble with their sale of what they do not actually have (and sometimes they did write when buying games in regular bundles, if some game is sold out; but they decided to sell air in the end).

Additionally, I noticed, that older games that previously had no regional restrictions (which is not mentioned in the threads here or in the bundle itself) suddenly have them now. Several people have informed me that they cannot activate keys from some of my giveaways due to these regional restrictions, despite my belief that they were global (this was very unpleasant and disappointing for me; I compensated the people who won these GA with their consent, but still…)

P.S. In my opinion, you have a very beautiful avatar on Steam.

You can't be serious about not using your pre-bought tokens, yet complaining about not getting any worth out of them. Who sits on stuff that's worth 0 unused, and complains about its actual value?

Öhm, ok, the free money for them from your unused monthly tokens will hit them hard 🤣

It seems as though they consider certain keys temporarily out of stock and other keys permanently out of stock.

Temporary = we'll let you know when we have more keys!
Permanent = here's some Humble store credit

Presumably 'temporary' will eventually become 'permanent' so I would say keep checking in with them periodically. (If you care about Humble store credit, I guess).

Update: been credited $2 of store credit for it so a win at least (not in my account yet though)

If you don't want the games, demand money (not wallet [of course only when you not paid with wallet money for them]) because they sold more copies of games as they had.
You are in the EU and pointing to the EU customer laws and that this is against them, that are higher as whatever HB write in their TOS, should do wonders.

I would answer with YES.
At least if your aren't protected by the EU customer laws.

Humble already knows which keys haven't been revealed and are out of stock. This entire process could be avoided and automated. They are gambling that a certain percentage of people will never use some of the keys. Kind of like airlines selling too many tickets for a flight assuming a certain usual number of cancellations and no-shows.
