$6 isn't too bad i think, half the cost of a choice bundle. also, each one of those games is going for less than $1 at the key shops.
of course, in no fair system would you have to wait this long and have to reach out in order to get what you're owed. should just be an automatic thing.. or ya know, just get the keys you paid for in the first place..?
Comment has been collapsed.
I was thinking too that $6 isn't actually too bad but that's not the point. The point is, they can't provide the products you paid for and that is extremely sketchy. Makes me think twice before I want to buy another humble(d) bundle again.
Comment has been collapsed.
Wow! So they gave back $6 in credit, but since it's for the Humble Store, you can't use that money to buy an extra month of HB Choice, right? And there's no way any of those two games will be sold for $6 or less any time in the future.
Why do they keep on overselling keys? Is Humble Bundle really going down, after all these years?
Comment has been collapsed.
Money is money, but store credit isn't 👀
(even more so when it is, technically, for a different store where you've never been)
Comment has been collapsed.
Due to some (mostly Russian) shady devs abusing the system, Steam got stingy with its key generator tools. This isn't terrible in itself as they apparently do let developers restock if they show the receipts (ie. they're not flooding grey market), but it does mean third party companies cannot stock large quantities. Well, they also don't overstock since there's always a chance someone guesses correctly a key and thus replacements are needed. Buuuuut, when business relationships go down (for whatever reason), we're the ones getting shafted.
Comment has been collapsed.
So they know these keys will never be restocked and instead of giving money back to everyone who is waiting they just offer a store credit to people who open support ticket? The others can wait forever I guess.
How is HB not dead yet?
Guess the grey market is where we should get our monthly keys from now on
Comment has been collapsed.
My take is that if I hadn't opened a ticket, they would have done nothing, even though they (apparently) already considered these particular keys permanently exhausted.
Between the retroactive change to their TOS and this -- just straight up shady.
Comment has been collapsed.
Basically they just decided to rob people from now on because it's easier. I mean... it's a business model I guess.
I have a list of out of stock keys and I was going to create a ticket but I don't want their credit store so I figure I'm screwed.
Oh well, lesson learned.
Comment has been collapsed.
You mean keys to games that were so important to you you left them for months maybe even years and did nothing with them
If you had just opened the keys instead of leaving them to sit in your account forever this would not have affected you
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry wiggle but keys don't have to be "important" to be owed.
I paid for a bundle, I want my damn keys or I want my money back.
I left them uncovered because I believed they would be safer that way.
Humble is like a store providing storage for what you purchase and then letting you know when you try to get what you bought that oops, nope you actually paid for nothing or they threw them away. It's BS and it's a scam.
Comment has been collapsed.
I always reveal my keys immediately, however, I've bought bundles where keys were already out of stock. Nowhere was this mentioned to me before buying the bundle. Regardless, it shouldn't matter how long someone waits. A business shouldn't take someone's money for a product it doesn't actually have. People shouldn't need to race to use something they paid for else it be taken away. Businesses should be held accountable for dishonest practices.
Comment has been collapsed.
A business shouldn't take someone's money for a product it doesn't actually have.
This! It's not like they have no idea how many people will get the bundle. Sure anyone can pause but they have a rough idea from previous months. And after the bundle is paid, they know how many keys they are missing.
We get those ridiculous emails that say they "restocked keys" but they just add enough to say they did and when you go to the page within less than an hour "out of stock" again! It's nothing more than a scam at this point.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am no lawyer, but if i remember correct on the last time that i looked into the EU laws, you aren't forced to accept store wallet and they are forced to pay you the same way as you paid the product (as excample to your paypal account or the bank account that is connected with your credit card etc.) when you clearly reject that they pay you in wallet.
But better take yourself a look into the EU customer law if nothing changed or if i remember wrongly right now (i am very sleepy but i am 99% sure to remember correct but laws change, so it could have changed in the meantime, if i remember correct or not).
Each one outside of the EU is maybe fucked but we are, mostly, good protected.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was not able to find the specific text of law about refunds, beyond the boilerplate refund process so I sent an email to the ECC, which literally exists to inform EU consumers about their rights in cross border purchases.
Everywhere I go they do say that you are entitled to a full or partial refund when a product you purchased turns out to be faulty or incomplete though and nobody mentions store credit so I'm pretty sure it's in the text. Just haven't been able to find it yet.
Comment has been collapsed.
Any update? Were you able to get a partial refund? I know I'm stupid but I left about 200 keys from past humble bundles uncovered for years, and only recently started giving them out to friends, and the rest I will give away on steamgifts, but already 4 of them are "temporarily" out of keys, I'm curious how many more will be the same..
Comment has been collapsed.
I was offered store credit, refused and asked for the store credit amount to be refunded instead on my credit card or paypal account. I received an automated reply that said the matter is "under consideration by our support team" and nothing since then.
It's only been about 6 working days though and I'm sure they are under considerable loads considering the latest BS
You should reveal all your keys and have them in a spreadsheet or text file somewhere. Waiting is not an option with HB anymore.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the update, and yeah, it makes sense to reveal all the keys quickly.. It was just way easier / safer to track the unused ones this way, but now that HB is doing this bs, it is no longer the sensible option, I will uncover the keys this weekend.
edit:
"Luckily" only 8 keys are lost:
Calico February 2022 Humble Choice
Evan's Remains March 2022 Humble Choice
God's Trigger September 2019 Humble Monthly
Just Die Already February 2022 Humble Choice
Per Aspera February 2022 Humble Choice
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam + 2 DLCs August 2019 Humble Monthly
S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster July 2021 Humble Choice
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical June 2024 Humble Choice
Lesson learned.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know exactly what you mean. That's why I hadn't revealed my keys either and I lost a few due to the BS TOS.
Less than the "out of stock" scam though but it's best to get your keys while you can because soon they'll just call their bundles "The out of stock bundle" just to save time.
You can use Lext's script if that helps
Comment has been collapsed.
Did not see your message before the edit, but thanks. I diligently clicked the reveal buttons and copy-pasted the keys to an excel in about 10 mins.
All-in-all not the worst result. Of about 350 keys in total (200 already revealed a week ago, just did the remaining 150 today), only 8 were lost, was expecting much worse results.
For these eight I will of course open a ticket and hope for the best.

I would say HB credit is a bullshit if it's going to expire if not used. If the credit is permanent or is valid until the last day of their service well, then... it can be accpetable.
From the perspective of a contract, was or is there any statement specifying the stock is limited and the transaction should be completed before the stock is depleted? If not, it's HB's fault for being unable to fulfill the contract. (If they plan to do so, then the number of bundles or choices being sold would be limited...) I'm not sure if this is correct.
Comment has been collapsed.
No there were no indication that the monthly bundle was now "first come first serve" so it's indeed on them. Straight up illegal actually as you can't advertise a product and sell people half of it without warning.
Also what's the point of store credit if you are going to have to use it to buy keys they'll keep not giving to you?
Comment has been collapsed.
Your statement is actually what I had thought of. I tried to put some hedge, in case what I thought could be the opposite of the majority. (You know, from cultural background differences or whatever that can cause the difference of each perspective.) I would get pissed off if what I tried to get is withdrawn and the refund is less than its value. If given more, well... maaayybee? But for credit with expiration date? Hell, no.

But isn't it obvious that they do accept the order when they take the money? I don't mean to fight against you, I'm just expressing what should be clearly understood in business transactions. If they decline, they would have to offer the refund, not credit, I believe.
https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/san-francisco/profile/digital-media/humblebundlecom-1116-452487
The page says "You have been blocked, you are unable to access bbb.org" so I have no idea what's in there.

Nothing is there. It's the page for the "better business bureau" and businesses can adhere to these guarantees or not (consumer protection in the US is elective lol) and Humble doesn't have a page there, that's all the information you get.
And yes you are right, if they took your money, legally that means they "accepted your order". Even in the US I don't see a legal way for them to escape that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Except you're only getting store credit for "part" of the money you already paid so technically it's money you already spent. They're not giving you anything for free, they're just allowing you to spend some of your money again... on their store, which is now known for not delivering keys.
So even if you do manage to get enough store credit to buy another game you actually want, there's no guarantee you'll get the game.
And let's also mention the fact that there is now a limit on how long the keys you don't want will be considered "owed" to you. For now it's 3 years but it may change to 6 months in a future silent update of their TOS.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not true i wish you would stop with this false information buying off the store tells you if it is currently in stock or not and if not don't buy it then easy - and if it is revel it straight away simple
Edit: also apart form spending the credit for missing game I got in return I have never bought from their store part before and will not buy any bundles from them again
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure what I said in there that offended you or was "not true" but there's no misinformation. Only facts.
But I'm really glad you got placated by two bucks of store credit. But they didn't "give" you anything. They just allowed you to spend some of the money you gave them for nothing, again.

And? They could have given me £0 so £2 is better than nothing

Starting to wonder if Jack Move from the October 2024 choice will ever be restocked...had forgotten to grab it when the bundle first launched and been checking once a week for months now.

Fortunately it isn't mine, I've seen it on Discord. Absolutely abysmal business practice, but I don't think that anything will be done without one nice class-action lawsuit. With Fanatical you are safe, keys can be unrevealed indefinitely since they assign them to your account on purchase and if they exhaust them you will see that clearly before buying a bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi
I have expired Fanatical keys for a bundle I bought during COVID-19 so nobody is really safe.
Comment has been collapsed.
Cuphead never went on a deep discount. We are joking about Activision and their 50%, but the highest this one went is 30% and it is 7.5 years old already. Ofc the base price is low and the game is worth more than that but still.
Anyway, I can kinda understand how keys from bundles gets exhausted (shitty practice not assigning them on purchase in the beginning but it is what it is), but how it happens for store purchases I simply can't comprehend.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh I didn't check the image. Yeah if it was Cuphead, it was for sure not a deep discount lol (well worth the full price though imo)
Even with bundles, the speed at which keys get exhausted is really odd. But it happens with other sites too. Fanatical is transparent about it when games included in bundles get out of stock before the bundle is over. That way people can decide if the bundle is still worth the price for them personally or not.
With store purchases it makes no sense at all though, you're absolutely right. It's as if you're going to a supermarket and buy a big box of cereals and you open it at home to find it filled with paper that says "we are currently out of stock but we'll send you cereals as soon as we get them, sorry". I mean wtf
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah 2024 was especially ridiculous when it comes to "out of stock" keys in bundles.
Common wisdom says "the keys they sell in bundles have been negotiated at a bulk price with the devs so they are not the same keys that are in the store" but you know what? I don't care.
If they didn't want everyone to jump on their keys and try to redeem them all at once, they shouldn't have enacted a "new" policy that robs you from keys that are "too old" according to them all of a sudden.
Now they have to give us keys or money. They can't keep both and I don't care that they have to pay them at full price instead of the discount they got when they negotiated their bundles and lowballed the number on purpose.
Comment has been collapsed.
I got a similar copy-paste response for 16 games out of 12 bundles, including those for which it is known that there will be no more keys, which makes this text about waiting for the keys (which after three years they officially refuse to try to provide) even more ridiculous and somewhat false:

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out to Humble Bundle Support! I'm sorry to hear there have been issues with receiving keys for your order.
The keys to this product are temporarily exhausted, meaning we have depleted our current stock of keys. We receive all of our keys manually in batches, and once we acquire more keys, the affected download and store pages will be updated. Unfortunately, we cannot provide estimated times for when we anticipate receiving more keys, but we greatly appreciate your patience.
Rest assured, we are working on acquiring more keys from our partners, and we are very sorry for the delay! If you receive a key exhaustion error on your download page, you will be informed via your registered email address once more keys are in stock, though we recommend you check back on your download page from time to time. More information is available in our Key Exhaustion Errors help article.
Please let us know if you need any additional assistance with this order, as we will be happy to help as much as possible!

Humble Bundle
I did not immediately activate some games that I wanted to give to friends later, because I like to make different small surprises at different times; and some, like "Persona", for which I bought a month at full price, I decided to activate after I completed the previous part (very in vain, haha). I am extremely disappointed with Humble with their sale of what they do not actually have (and sometimes they did write when buying games in regular bundles, if some game is sold out; but they decided to sell air in the end).
Additionally, I noticed, that older games that previously had no regional restrictions (which is not mentioned in the threads here or in the bundle itself) suddenly have them now. Several people have informed me that they cannot activate keys from some of my giveaways due to these regional restrictions, despite my belief that they were global (this was very unpleasant and disappointing for me; I compensated the people who won these GA with their consent, but still…)
Comment has been collapsed.
Of course, it is possible (no one should forget about critical thinking skills), and it's very sad if that’s the case. However, it’s difficult to verify, and sometimes it’s worth believing. If the people I randomly chose to please with a gift turned out to be swindlers, that is on their conscience, my initial goal is still accomplished (:sigh:)
Comment has been collapsed.
I used to do that. I used to save keys for later. You know? So I wouldn't get lost in my library. Now I just go and activate everything immediately.
Comment has been collapsed.
When you redeem your keys is your decision, doesn´t matter if a week, a month, a year later or whenever you want nor the reasons you have to do that, since you bought them. Even on some keys they put a redemption limit of around 1 full year after purchase. They now say 3 years to support keys, so that should be your "safe" limit.
But the same as you I found they´re all lies, as someone else said already, keys from Humble Bundle should be redeemed immediately the moment after you get them.
Comment has been collapsed.
HB is going downhill, since they changed TOS and I went and checked my account I found multiple keys that are still out of stock. I even revealed some keys to avoid risking the out of stock message only to find they are duplicated and they refused to provide me with working ones citing time limits to support them, even for keys from Humble Choice from last month.
You should trust HB as much as you would trust someone selling keys on a gray market with almost no sales. The moment you get a key, try to redeem it instantly and expect the ones you didn´t to be useless.

theyre not worth even the subscription token.
You can't be serious about not using your pre-bought tokens, yet complaining about not getting any worth out of them. Who sits on stuff that's worth 0 unused, and complains about its actual value?
Comment has been collapsed.
The latest choice are not even worth the token compared to other years. Thats exactly my complain, if you save them you can use for other choice months but seems very unlikely theyre gonna improve as of now. The tokens are still worth 6 or 7 euro even if its virtual currency. Some people even used to get the complete bundle from you when it was worth something, again not the case lately. So yes, the sum its theyre so bad now i dont even wanna spent the tokens. Its not that hard to understand.
Comment has been collapsed.
Its more my issue. Never said otherwise lol. Im saying theyre so bad lately i dont see any value for using the tokens, that was the point. They dont expire or anything but maybe its just wishful thinking theyre gonna return to form now so its doesnt really matter.
Comment has been collapsed.
It seems theyre gonna declare bankrupt at any minute...
Your words doesn't sound as you have much time to get something for your money (the tokens).
I don't believe that they pay you your money back if they go bankrupt.
And your words doesn't sounded as you wish/assume/expect that they return to their old form.
All in all i know that many people get the HB choice monthly and sell the keys for more as they paid.
The offer can't be so bad, when people can earn money each month with it.
Comment has been collapsed.
They seem to have financial/logistical problems unrelated to choice or my unused tokens. Even some preorders were canceled for lack of keys. The dropping of the quality of regular bundles, the lack of keys and the lackluster support lately doesnt look good tbh.

Sent in a ticket regarding Calico (Türkiye-Syria Earthquake Relief Bundle), Fashion Police Squad (Choice April 2024)
and Jack Move (Choice October 2024). Got a similar response stating that HB aren't able to restock keys for these specific titles and I was given $5 wallet credit.

Great won't get Jack Move then myself I guess October is not even that long ago

I also mentioned Fashion Police Squad in my ticket and they said to be patient, got nothing. Meanwhile they got a "HB aren't able to restock keys for these specific titles", implying that neither of the three will get restocked. (As opposed to if they'd have said some of the games)

It seems as though they consider certain keys temporarily out of stock and other keys permanently out of stock.
Temporary = we'll let you know when we have more keys!
Permanent = here's some Humble store credit
Presumably 'temporary' will eventually become 'permanent' so I would say keep checking in with them periodically. (If you care about Humble store credit, I guess).

Humble are just great I just messaged them about Jack Move from the HC October 2024 and they tried to send me to 3 different articles
1 was about Helldiver keys - what that has to do with Jack Move is anybody's guess and the other two were about bundles from 2019

Update: been credited $2 of store credit for it so a win at least (not in my account yet though)

If you don't want the games, demand money (not wallet [of course only when you not paid with wallet money for them]) because they sold more copies of games as they had.
You are in the EU and pointing to the EU customer laws and that this is against them, that are higher as whatever HB write in their TOS, should do wonders.

To be fair, to store digital keys for up to 10 years, for steam a platform that give you anyway only a licence to play a game and you never own it, so let's say for a not so safe product, isn't the best approach.
That you assumed that the newer keys (1-3? years) can be revealed whenever you want, would be understandable for me, but with 10 year old keys i have my problem to see only HB as the bad ones. Because at some point the publishers want the unused keys, of bundle offers, back and publishers can see if a key got activated or not and are able to deactivate a key at any time and HB can't stop a publisher to do this.
And yes, your list of keys that you can't reveal are long but when you look on the fact that you revealed over 900 keys, is the number smaller in the percentage as it first looks.
I hope you can solve the problem and HB pay you a part of the payed money back.
Comment has been collapsed.
R.I.P. to those keys, they never had a chance at life.
I wish you luck at getting some kind of positive response.
Humble already knows which keys haven't been revealed and are out of stock. This entire process could be avoided and automated. They are gambling that a certain percentage of people will never use some of the keys. Kind of like airlines selling too many tickets for a flight assuming a certain usual number of cancellations and no-shows.

the thing that upsets me is 2 of the 3 headliners DIII & Pathfinder from this week's bundle are keys that have been exhausted for me. You'd think they would let us have em first as we already paid for those keys, hell even if they gifted me the 12$ tier and told me they would not be resupplying D3, Pathfinder & a few other keys from my list id be happy. Some kind of positive response would be lovely, I hate to be that person but the ticket i submitted is truly going to be the deciding factor on whether or not i continue to support Humble, especially with grey markets having similar prices to games in bundles.
