Are you waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2 ?

I'd like to but I'm poor
yes, but I'm waiting for it to drop in price

Not really. I really enjoyed the versatility of the Switch but since Steam Deck that's not a selling point anymore. And it makes little sense to buy a console only for Metroid, Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles.

You can add Donkey Kong, Fire Emblem, Kirby, Mario and Pokimons to that list. It used to be rather common for people to buy two or three consoles just for the exclusives, but things sure seem to have changed since!

I mentioned the games that would be relevant to me.
And imho it's smart to avoid such waste as investing in hardware that barely ever will be used.

Roger that. From a rational point of view, you would be correct on the second point. But y'know, FOMO.

at this point you buy it later on in the consoles life(preferably used with the games you want), beat them.
sell it.

I bought a 3DS just for Zelda(got the a link between worlds special edition console)... ended up getting a dozen or so other games(some backlogged)
I bought a switch for BOTW... ended up getting a dozen or so other games(some backlogged... again)
its mostly non-first party games getting backlogged.

Don't think I've ever played a Nintendo game, maybe a mario one back when cartiridges were a thing. But nothing since then. So, no, don't think I'm interested in the switch 2. Although, Nintendo is like the perfect company to help with spending too much money on games. With almsot no discounts for their games, I bet I wouldn't buy as often. Buying one game for 60$ or getting a bundle with say 5 games for 15$ just hits differently.

Nope, I'm waiting for the the steam deck 2, valve index 2, and the steam pc. I'd like those first if they'll make them, should be somewhat realistic as valve has done things with the number 2 before.

Also waiting on nintendo to come to steam and stop being stubborn.

I think there could be a 2 (ha) year gap between Switch 2 and Deck 2, which is like an eternity for some 😛 Interwebz rumors seem to suggest the Index 2 will release sooner than that.

I likely will get one for first party titles... just not at launch like I did for the first switch(managed to get one with a preorder to)
I just love Zelda/Fire Emblem/Metroid/Xenoblade games.

Don't even have the first one. I'm playing on PC exclusively (Steam deck is also a PC).

I've considered picking up a Switch for the handful of exclusives I'm interested in, but Nintendo is probably the least trustworthy console manufacturer when it comes to their digital storefront (3DS VC didn't transfer to anything, No VC games purchased could be transfered to Switch, Wii, 3DS, and WiiU servers have all already been shut down). If I got one it would just be for retail games, and several of the good Switch exclusives have large expansion packs or large amounts of paid DLC they never included in a 'complete' edition or anything like that (such as Splatoon 2 'Octo Expansion' and Animal Crossing 'Happy Home Paradise'). Makes me really unsure if I should even bother spending the money on their products since they seem to treat both customers that buy digital and physical like garbage.

The silver lining is that they did confirm that current Nintendo Accounts will keep their digital games for their next console, but, nothing is stopping them from not keeping it that way. They have yet to confirm if their next console will be retro compatible as well.

I imagine a CEO saying something like, oh no, your games are still on your Nintendo Account, but you can't play them on our new console, because they are for Switch. Hahaha

Not waiting but I am curious what their next console would be. I'll wait until way after it comes out.

With the Switch i was really played out with Smash Bros, the mario games etc, every nintendo console has been there, done that.
If the new Switch is just a bit more powerful or whatever, it's nothing really new but more like a Switch upgrade/pro thing, and the steamdeck is already more powerful, while i was always looking at new stuff consoles wise, they don't do it anymore.

Also Nintendo made a good move in one way making it portable and turning it into a console but they always had 2 markets, console and portables seperately, which Sony and Microsoft never touched.
Now you buy 1 thing instead of 2 thus they also lost a market, and now they are in a market with competitors, i think unless Nintendo is going to come with something really good, eventually it will be done for them (or take the decision to cut some losses but exploit their character games on other platforms).
