Solution:

Open the itstoohard.com "puzzle" in the OP. There is only 1 question, and I expected everyone to solve it. I was wrong.

Quiz question: "Could it be that 100% of players solved this one?"

Any of the following was an acceptable answer:

Yes
No
Y
N
yea
yeah
yep
aye
naturally
absolutely
maybe

1179 players solved this, 23 players didn't.

On correct answer, the solver is presented with this solution:
"The link is in the Reserved post. If you can't find it, just look harder."

The "Reserved" post is this. In it most people started by opening the image, which shows a note with the word "Reserved". If you expand it in the post and hover on it with the mouse, you'll see the URL https://yerl.org/1MwDT which many people initially thought is the solution. As you'll see if you click it, it wasn't. Just a redirect to a red herring. Literally.

So if the link to the GAs is in the Reserved post, where else can one look? In the HTML source of course. The easiest way to find it, which works with all browsers, is to press Ctrl+U and then Ctrl+F to search for the word Reserved. You'll see something like this:

<textarea name="description">Reserved[](http://www.itstoohard.com/puzzle/j3SGVcPP)

That's the word "Reserved" followed by a hyperlink with no text (and therefore invisible in the thread) to another itstoohard.com "puzzle".

Quiz question: "If this one doesn't get 100% solvers, it's because people already own the games. That's the only possible reason. I figured it out, right?"

Acceptable answers were:

Yes
No
Y
N

All 354 players solved this.

The result was a link to the Pony Island GA. In the description of that GA was a link to the VVVVVV GA. (both are now finished).

So all in all, 354 of 1202 players solved the puzzle (29%). Quite a bit different from the "1000 solvers" claimed by the title, but hey, everyone's allowed to troll every once in a while. I promise not to do it too often ;-)

Thanks for the solution, I knew the 1st picture was a red herring but stopped short there. I didn't know it was hidden in the HTML code though. Oh well! I'll prod deeper next time :)

The image of the herring was in the tootip, so not really hidden. What was hidden is the URL to the second itstoohard.com "puzzle", but I guess that's what you meant.

Thank you for parting the curtains for me, Yirg.:) I never would have figured it out on my own (I never knew about how to find hidden text until now!).:)

It's described in Zelg's guide for puzzle solving, but is Firefox-centric. I need to ask him to add this method as an alternative.

That would be great, as I do not use Firefox.:)
