Better than Diablo 3 imho. At least the gameplay which is the most important part.

I honestly am not a big fan of ARPGs like Torchlight, Diablo, etc etc.
That said I own torchlight 1 and didn't really play it, I just never got into it.

Torchlight 2 on the other hand, I just want to play it more and more. Also Torchlight 2 has MP so thats a big plus, mod support, ability to play over LAN.

You've point something interesting that, indeed, Diablo 3 will NEVER have : mod support. That is the kind of stuff which can make it a really huge game.

What made you not get it though? It's really worth your money, unless the genre doesn't appeal to you.

In my opinion it's not. Like it happens with the first one it gets boring rather fast. The skills are boring, the bosses are not challenging. You can stand still holding one of the spammable skills (or autoattacks, depending on the class) and just destroy bosses, even on the hardest difficulty. Plus the new gem mixing system is terrible.

You can only do that with the introductory boss on elite and get away with it. A dungeon or two later and you'll get completely raped by bosses (and most champions) if you only play like that.

Indeed, with some bosse like the Attack Titan I had to play hide and seek with my Engineer while my bots attacked him while playing in normal mode.

On elite there are regular mobs that can destroy you with a stand still and spam a skill tactic. I just finished Act 1 in elite and the playstyle is nowhere near what he claims.

I approve this post,+

on Elite even in act one there are bosses that can rape around 70-80% of your health in one hit if they'll( or their spells) get close enough to you... Same with champion monsters... I`m on act 2, played 20+ hours and already got 115 deaths, mostly overwhelmed by crowd monsters or raped by champions or bosses

P.S level desigh looks outstanding comparing with first torchlight where 95% of the game we had to stay in same-like dungeons

Quite true, I finished the game with my engineer and started a Veteran Berserker, just staying alive demands quite the attention very often.

This is not true. You can't do it with every boss on elite but you can definitely do it with more than the first one. Specially if you have weapons that restore health on hit. The game is way too easy to be challenging and only gets a little bit harder on elite, which is to be expected.

Like I said...a dungeon or two later and you'll get completely raped. You rely on that tactic you have literally no chance of beating elite (unless you want your total deaths to hit five figures). There are only a couple bosses total that you might be able to survive. The rest will destroy you. But that's not surprising since even a bad mix of regular mobs can tear apart someone playing like that.

I think elite should be a bit more challenging, since you can beat the game focusing on one skill and then just loading up on passives. But what you claimed is straight up ridiculous. And if you think that elite is only "a little bit harder" then you probably haven't gone very far into it.

The classes are all really different and fun, combat feels meaty, loads of different enemies, fun bossfights and nice art style. Imo one of the best games of the year so far.

I think the original is one of the best indie games out there. Based on my impressions from TL II demo I would say "yes, if you like the genre". If you are not sure (including "not sure I like this type of games") - try TL1 from Humble Bundle and TL2 demo. If you like TL1 and have the money I would say "yes" as second part seems to be much more varied and interesting. There is also some sort of a story going on - and there really is finally a "world" to explore rather than a pile of dungeons. Based on my experience with TL1 sales I would not expect one soon, though, not earlier than Christmas at any rate.

It has a very special Metacritic page, take a look:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/torchlight-ii
Some people don't care about metascore, but I do. I know when a game scores 90%, with not even one mixed or negative review then it must be something good. As a sweet you can check the user scores and also consider the fact that the game has a popular genre.

Abotu to reach the end of the first run with 18 hours played. I really enjoyed the game up to now, be it the different skills, mobs, the way bosses appear, their looks and combat styles...

In many ways it is like playing a sort of new version of Diablo II.

Diablo 2 had nice graphics? Not quite, they were kind of primitive when the game LAUNCHED.... in 2000.

Localaisation will most likely come later like with many titles after launch.

Cinematics in a Hack'n'Slash have never been a main point IMO, theyr are nice but not really necessary (apartfor the useful story telling which TL2 fals a bit short on. The Shanks style cinematics are quite nice.

As for the graphics, to each his own. I'd prefer a slightly darker style, but I have a friend who largely prefers the current one comared to D2's (speaking od style and not quality and evolution of the graphics).

I have never played any of the Diablo games, so I can't compare it to anything else. But I love it. I loved Torchlight, and I love Torchlight II even more, it's one of those games that you can spend hours playing. I get so into it that I try and reveal every tiny bit of map that I can, and search out every breakable that I can find, killing every critter I come across until the whole area is cleared, then move onto the next one, without losing interest.
That sound like a game you'd enjoy? Then I say go for it =)
