Not sure why some keep clinging to this. It indeed was a rushed launch with a game in a bad state, but they properly fixed it and added new stuff, a rare treat in the industry. There are many interviews where they admitted the mistakes they made with Cyberpunk 2077. To quote from one Eurogamer interview "Cyberpunk 2077âs troubled launch has shaped CD Projekt Redâs approach to game development, particularly in terms of platform optimization and realistic timelines. Tremblay highlighted new safeguards, such as more thorough platform reviews, ensuring lower-tier consoles are functional early in the process. This reflects a commitment to avoid the rushed production and last-minute fixes that plagued Cyberpunk. Tremblay explained that scaling up production will only occur once all necessary tools and systems are fully ready, avoiding the "catch-up" scenario the studio faced with its previous title." "Tremblay emphasized the switch from REDengine to Epic Gamesâ Unreal Engine would streamline collaboration across their teams, enabling a more efficient development pipeline for The Witcher 4, the upcoming Cyberpunk sequel (Project Orion), and a new IP codenamed Hadar."
As I mentioned, the demo is running on standard PlayStation 5, not a Pro, running the tech demo at a solid 60 fps with ray tracing, so it's not a 10000$ fancy PC. When the Witcher 4 launches, not before 2027, as they said, probably the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be announce or even out, also at least another generation of video cards. Everything in Unreal engine will be better/optimized. The newly (still beta) introduced Nanite Foliage is already a huge upgrade for gaming, you can see how great nature looks and these great features just keep coming.

Thanks for the corporate letter from the company, I was unimpressed. I think the goal is that we shouldn't applaud projects released in an unfinished state, just because the company might fix it years later. We should strive for studios to give us products that they advertised, because this "we'll fix it in post" mentality incentiveses every other studio to rush their projects as well. And many won't care about actually finishing them.

That's not the point, trying to impress anyone. The idea is to try to not be so negative without reason, at least wait for the release and then release the hounds if there are (real) reasons. I agree, the industry is in a bad shape, mostly because of very bad management, but at least these people proved they care and they surely learned their lesson, because the Cyberpunk launch was a heavy self inflicted wound. Coming after The Witcher 3, when the company was highly rated the huge preorders and early sells were guaranteed. Now, pretty sure they can't afford another fiasco at launch. Trust me, I'm not in the game industry defending gang.
Also, this is actually an Unreal engine 5.6 demo, not a Witcher 4 hyping demo, since the game is years away from launch. The description on The Witcher channel points it out clearly, "Keep in mind this isnât gameplay of The Witcher 4 itself, but a deep dive into the technological foundation of the new Witcher saga".

Impressing me was most definitely your point, why else would you post this PR piece about the tech used?
Pretty sure, they were advertising the game as well, not just the engine. And I disagree, with your assessment that these people learned their lesson. What CDPR learned from the CP 2077 release was that while people will be a bit upset, eventually it won't really affect their bottom line, if they just finish the game a year or two later.

I kept posting to try to make people understand that not everything is black and white, there are colors, meaning not bad and good only. Everybody makes mistakes, including us. These developers made some mistakes. They apologized and fixed the game. It's not perfect, but if you know the game dev process, then you know it's impossible to make something perfect. What I'm trying to point out, that being skeptic is OK, don't preorder, don't buy, etc. I repeat, I'm not trying to impress you per se, by your attitude I guess it's not easy for anyone. My point was to try to convince people, again not you in particular, but everybody who criticizes something from the future, to simply be more open minded, for yourself, not for me or anybody else. You would have a point if these devs would be serial offenders, but it's not the case. Coincidentally they just announced another update for the game. It doesn't look like that don't care about their fans. Wait for the game to be out, then have an opinion, not based on a tech demo for the game engine, which was great in my opinion.

realistic timelines.
ha ha ha, still talking around and not being honest, fire the managers and the lying ceo, it was pure greed nothing else, they knew it was a dumpsterfire.
I remember the ceo even lying days after release how "nobody knew" it was in a bad state, my ass.
switch from REDengine to Epic Gamesâ Unreal Engine would streamline
while internally complaining about horrible performance, won't go over that easy, at least likely not as buggy, which C still is btw

The game looks pretty good for sure, but considering my unending pile of shame waiting for me to finish it, including the previous 3 games (though I still have to procure myself the second one at some point), I think I'll get to this one by 2040. Ideally by then it'll have a GOTY edition with all the DLCs at 90% discount xD

I'd rather think about my unending pile of shame as a bottomless treasure chest I can reach in and play from any time.
But yeah I can't really justify shelling out the $$$ to buy games on release when my treasure chest is pretty bottomless as it is.
The only recent AAA games I have played are wins from SG or gifts from my gf or sister who want to play the games on my account :D

A lot of "witcher fans" in here that are upset to be playing as ciri, a character we've already played as and the second main character in the books. I'm glad they didn't turn the witcher into create-a-character slop and our protagonist will actually have a personality.

How much of what we saw will actually be in the game? Remember, CDPR has a great trrack record of spawning YouTube vicdeos titled "[insert the title of a CDPR game] E3 vs actual game." Still great games, but they lie through their teeth better than me when I'm with my back against the wall.

A friendly reminder that this was a "Tech Demo" and that it doesn't represent the real Witcher 4 gameplay nor cinematics, and some of the stuff shown might actually not be present in the actual game, the Tech Demo is only set in The Witcher 4 world and was made to showcase new Unreal Engine tech and improvements, it even says so in the video: "Technical Presentation - Not Actual Gameplay"

That's what I mentioned. Also want to add that Unreal engine 5.6 was released in the same day with this tech demo, so this was done with work in progress software. The Nanite foliage system is still in work, probably will have a final version in UE 5.7.
