Because there is better that people in public see the giveaway, and i only made for group members, so public people enter my group and enter giveaway, so its better to get people there to my group. I think u understood what i mean.

I wish steamgifts.com could make that same. So i would not need to create there, and i would do that here. But sadly steamgifts havent created this thing.

On SG, if there is a group giveaway, you will only see that giveaway if you are already a member of that group. On SC, you will see the giveaway even if you are not a member of the group and will be given the opportunity to join that group. So it is essentially an advertisement for the group. I think it is a bad idea and am glad that SG does not have it.

Hi Bumbosas,

maybe you have another nice Giveaway for SG Members (created here on SG) to promote your group ? That would be great :-)

I just never figured out why are people so desperate to gain members in steam groups ...
99.5% of the people ( if not solid 100% ) that joined your group cause of the giveaway dont give close to a single fuck nor bout you , nor bout whatever content you are producing ( if any ) ... they are in just for more free stuff .

So why do you care how many hoarders you have in your group ?

Why not try to make a proper group , with normal people ... to do.... duno stuff ppl do in steam group ? ( what exactly i have no clue ) ... talk bout games ? ..... and eventually host giveaways for them ... people you actually know , and maybe even like .

Just my 2 cents on the whole SC Group giveaway thing .

+1 All I can think is it's insecurity. Having a group with a big number of people in it makes them feel loved.

There are reasons ;) You then start spamming PR agencies or indie devs directly for free keys to promote their game in your "mega big community", and then use these free keys for your personal profit ;) Gain contribution levels on various GA sites, activate some meys yourself, trading them or even selling on G2A.

There are also examples (well at least one example) of group owner blackmailing devs to get free stuff from them, otherwise he will use thousands of his group members to make bad reviews, give shitty score etc for their game. 99.5% of his members may don't give two shits about him and are there only for GiveAways, but small dev who doesn't know the group will have no idea about that ;)

Another usage - you spam User's activity feed with announcments and events containing raffles or refferal links. Even if 99.5% don't bother with them at all there will always be some single people among thousands of your group members who will click and let you profit ;)

+1 to both you and jxt09. I've seen stories of some of these groups extorting devs for keys and if they don't give them keys they'll pretty much trash their game.

You may recognise the group in question, since they do giveaways here.

I was tralking about it, but I would edit your link out - the reason I didn't directly call what grpoup and what person I'm talking about is because pof no calling out rule on SG, which yourr link may be breaking and you may get suspended for it.

I'll take the suspension when it comes. They have scummy practices.

them breaking the rules is not an explanation to you breaking the rules as well.

If saying it how it is about how a prevalent group on this site extort devs gets me a suspension I'll happily say it. No point censoring myself now, I've probably already been reported :D.
