I think an opportunity was missed to start an argument (and associated blacklist bonanza) about whether 2020 is the first or the last year of the decade. Lots of people seem to think 2020 marks the start of a new decade - I say they are wrong and have been misled by "Big Party", the cabal of entertainment industry bars, restaurants and function centres that realised they could have two lucrative Millennium Parties if they told everyone that 1999 was the last year of the millennium and should be celebrated accordingly, only to subsequently reveal (correctly) that the millennium actually ends one year later, so the next celebration should, therefore, be celebrated at a proportionately extravagant level.
