TomasMacMordain's unique Plane Puzzle 1 and Plane Puzzle 2 were one of the first puzzles on SG which I remember trying and failing to solve for multiple days - but still loving the idea of it. 8/10, would fail again.
ConanOLion's choose-your-own "Spudley's Adventures" and it's Earlier Iterations been very fun to solve and read. I find it inspiring when people put a lot of their creative writing into puzzles. 9/10, give us Spudley's Dating Sim!
Honorary mention: Thank you RosimInc for creating a tool for all of us who can't come up with our own puzzle but love nonograms. Your contribution and hard work should guarantee you a spot here. Score:

I've been trying to find an old puzzle for the last hour to no avail. Maybe some one with a better memory can help me find it. It was a puzzle browser game where you where a knight and had to save a princess in increasingly difficult levels, each level would give you one giveaway link. If I remember correctly you had to collect swords to be able to defeat the monsters in your way.

A little busy right now, but 90% sure it was one of later puzzles in Gus MEGAEVENT by one of contributors.

Could it be this one?

Whoops, my mistake then
Great example tho, so far Tomas seems to be the one everyone remembers :D

Garg0yle's geocaching puzzle was just super cool.
Also Gus's MEGAevent was not only an amazing event for giveaways but had a ton of cool and inventive mini-games but so did his other threads such as ghost, which is just silly and came back in the megaevent and dungeon

I think I genuinely forgot Ghost was Gus's own project during the event and assumed it was done by contributor 😱 Shame on me
There were many great minigames during event, wanted to include them myself, but felt like giving less examples would encourage more people to comment)

I somehow missed the whole Geocaching thing during my time on forums! That is amazing!

I just love any puzzles that Dog comes up with, my success rate is like 33.33%, nonetheless, I love the struggle (and no, I'm not a masochist lol)
and ik he is already mentioned but I gotta say I've come across so many cool stuff and learned lots and lots of awesome things while trying to solve this puzzles and he is ofc none other than the the fantastic, the amazing Tomas; I just get excited whenever he posts a puzzle cause I know it'll be a fun ride solving his puzzles (altho I'm still quite ashamed that haven't finished one of the games I entered kinda accidentally,b ut I'm sure the mood for it shall come sooner than later hopefully t.t)

Here's a few favourites that come to mind:
Not really a puzzle, but rather a "game"/event, but I absolutely love Arwiee's Community Word Game; such a lovely concept!
Similarly, DrTenma's Easter Egg Hunt is not really a puzzle in and off itself, but damn, if I didn't enjoy going through the forums and looking for all those hidden eggs!
Now, for actual puzzles, I have to give negative points to MarvashMagalli for not even creating one, but instead relying on us to make it ourselves!

Ottah https://www.steamgifts.com/user/Ottah made his comeback after 12 years (!!!) and began doing puzzles again like, check out his last two threads esp this one https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/HmbHM/lets-travel-through-time-together-1994-2024-ended - his nostalgic time travel event was really great.

Okay there were so many good events over the time, but those 4 older ones I could still remember enough to find them :D
World Landmarks Event - Unfortunately this never gone through completely but the puzzles were great and the effort put in them astonishing :O
Xarlor's Nonograms - Most might remember him as the creator of the first community train, but for some time he did a weekly nonogram topic way before the nonogram hype got SG again some time ago. ;) Unfortunately the nonograms are no longer available :(
Lugum's yearly advent jigidi event - Also if I remember right Delisper helped a lot in Lugum's jigidi events so kudos too :)
nickchanger's A Trainful of (Painful?) Puzzles - this was really painful at some time but soooo much fun. :D
Edit: oh right itstoohard is also no longer so what a shame, that those puzzles are most lilely lost forever D: (Okay looks like the wayback machine still have them saved! :D)

Thanks for the mention ;)
One of the best puzzles I've had the pleasure to solve on this site was The Tower series by gordonshumway. It was a D&D-themed story divided into chapters that he would post weekly or monthly, I don't remember exactly, each with some very clever and original puzzle inside and an epilogue with an ending puzzle that would bring the whole story together. I remember I was really hooked up in the period it was running and his dedication has been a real inspiration for me to create puzzles of my own.
Sadly, the fact the he deleted that account but gladly he came back later with a new one and that itstoohard.com isn't up anymore, leave us with almost no proofs of its existence.

Snake994 has done some really cool puzzles over the years, often with some kind of interactive app or game programmed by him.
Here's an example of one that uses a virtual command line interface Now what is this exactly???
I also feel compelled to mention zantaff's Weird Puzzle Train. This was the first elaborate adventure style puzzle that I participated in so I'm definitely a bit biased, but the puzzle was objectively good and it was obvious that a ton of effort had gone into it. It had a lot of neat little brain teasers and many branching paths. There was even a website where users could input their answers or request hints.

Puzzles are one of the most engaging aspects of SG forums for me
(even if I'm not particularly good at them)
It's fascinating to see the creative ways people come up with to hide the GA and make all of us feel smarter (or dumber). Some users have even written entire guides to help newcomers solve them!
But, as many puzzles as there are, they quickly come to an end, and all the hard work people put into them often ends up forgotten...
"No More", I say!
With this thread, I propose we reminisce about our favorite puzzles and events that used them! Discuss what makes them interesting, tip our hats to creators, and hopefully inspire future puzzle-makers.
So far, I've come up with a few "ground rules" to keep us on track:
Open to more rules and ideas about this thread - want it to be up to the community.
I will start with first comment and few examples of puzzles I Personally still think about, long after they ended.
I may update the main post or replace my comment with a "Table" of your own suggestions later, putting best of the best there!
Let's begin!
