99% sure to be from Indiegala Feudalife Challenge both going by the other giveaways of the users who gave it away recently and by the fact the game was in a very old Indiegala bundle. They tend to dump very old unsold keys into the Challenge as rewards.

You are correct that getting that exact game to drop takes a lot of luck or tons of wins over a long time. But you could trade for it on barter.vg or Steamtrades. Several people list their extra wins from the Challenge there.

You generally upload a list of the games you have for trading and a list of games that you want, try to find matches between you and other people and then send others offers based on those matches. Or if you don't really want to get that deeply into trading simplest would be to put up a topic in the Trade section of the Indiegala forums. Some of the regulars might be able to help.

I was a young adult when GTA San Andreas and Stronghold 2 were released but I'd also lump them into this list of old favourites I still play from time to time.

I suppose they've bought a bunch of keys for each of their bundles, and many bundles didn't sell until exhaustion, so they have remaining keys in their store. And a little less than 2 years ago, they decided to put them in some kind of contest, where you can win keys by playing a game, i don't see where this is shady, i think they can do what they want with those keys they mass purchased.

I don't know what the contracts are between stores and publishers for bundled games, but if they've done it for 2 years in the open, that must be legal, or they would have been shut down.

Well in this case they simply give them away, no financial interest for them at all, no ad (and if you lose, you can even get credits to spend in the store :D).

They had it on the store, proven by the historical low on ITAD: source. However, after it had been removed from Steam store in 2016, no other official reseller is allowed to sell Steam keys for the game (Steam rules for devs/publishers). Giving them away is the only thing they can do.

This is the significant part. The publisher can't sell a batch of leftover keys to me to resell but that doesn't necessarily prohibit me from continuing to sell a batch of keys I've already bought.

It has 0 CV as of July 15th here despite no giveaways found at barter. I think I can rule out the Killer Bundle 18 (I'd 8%+ sale "rule" applies) since that started in June, and normally any RCV and 0 CV dates are back dated if entered after the giveaway/bundle.
