Hey, i wanted to use my cheap controller for a game (outdrive) but buttons don't make sense and using x360ce didn't help either.

I was planning to use xpadder but the game still recognized my controller. If i can bypass my controller, i can use it via xpadder. (or maybe another solution? )

Thanks for reading :)

Have you tried Steam's built in controller mapping? It supports a lot of controllers and allows you to emulate other controllers or assign keyboard & mouse functions.

I didn't know that, it worked like a charm :D

Thank you very much!

ScpToolkit should work best for official Dualshock controllers, I've not had any problems with functionality whatsoever with it.

>> However, I see lots of negative reviews online about Scp drivers overwriting other Bluetooth drivers [such as a wireless mouse or keyboard would use] when installing its own wireless drivers, so that's a risk factor to carefully look into beforehand, if you're already utilizing any wireless hardware. <<
[Of course, I'm playing wired to begin with, so that's not a concern for my own usage.]

Well, immediately after installing Scp I did have an issue with it opening multiple processes at high CPU consumption, and I forget what workaround I used to correct that. That said, the developer gave indication in 2017 of it being fixed on their end, and I don't see any reports of the issue following that; So that issue should no longer occur.

Following that, I've been using my DS4 for dozens of games without any issue.

If you end up having problems getting scp to start up, it'll likely be due to it wanting to be opened with administrator access.
To do this, you can put NET START "SCP DSx Service" into a text file, rename the text file to have a .bat extension, and then create a shortcut to that bat file. Right click on the shortcut, go to Advanced, and set it to "Run as Administrator". To create an icon for ending the scp process once you're done using it, do the same thing but with NET STOP "SCP DSx Service" in the initial text file.

scp's controller detection can also be a bit finicky and require a few restarts of the process whenever you're starting the process up. Though weirdly, the last few times I tried, just pushing down L3 was enough to get it to immediately recognize the controller. :P

Not sure if that warning was one I edited in or not, so just going to reemphasize it's there to be safe. ^.^

DS4 has definitely been an excellent experience for me on PC*, hopefully DS3'll be comparable for you. :)
*I'm definitely grateful to SG for helping convince me to get it, back when I asked the community for advice on PC controllers.

Welp it does not work but thank you for your time.
I guess i have to buy a real one or a XBOX controller to end this farce...
But the XBOX controllers are expensive. Why did I have to be a pleb???

Even with the admin access? What happened (or didn't happen)?

Meh. Now that I've gone Dualshock for PC, I can't imagine going back to Xbox.

Well, Nintendo Switch Pro controllers also work for PC, so that's another possibility.
I can't tell you how well they optimize, but a contact of mine said it worked just fine for them through Steam's controller recognition.

No idea. The best guess is that it is not a Sony PS controller that's why.
I have gone back to xbox360c but a different version and I was able to tweak it correctly. Now I play with my controller but I have forgotten the keys and it is annoying.
The wierdest part is that I have downloaded so many things that now something is minimizing my game once per 5 minutes.
I also had an update from MS so I don't know who to blame....
Currently scanning for malware. Yeah.... My luck is good...

Uhm, shoot. There's a different program for offbrand dualshock controllers that I used to use, but I can't recall the name [being that that was four controllers changes ago].

To answer your question, you can always blame Microsoft. Especially for the unbelievable crap they introduced with Windows 10.

Anyway..
Best of luck with everything. :S

Hey it worked good, but do you know how to prevent so sharp movement?

I've only used it with a Steam Controller, so I'm not sure how it looks with different controllers. On the settings page for the analog stick, on the bottom right is Additional Settings. Under that there are a bunch of advanced settings to control how responsive the stick is. There is a response curve setting, and separate horizontal and vertical sensitivity scales. If turning down the sensitivity doesn't work, play around with the response curve.

Hmm, i will try it to see if it will work. If i can make it, i will probably play most of my games with controller. Looks like lot more fun this way. Thanks for the help :)

I have had this issue with many games and found a solution that worked with the last couple games I played. You have to completely disable the controller in windows so they game cannot detect it when you launch the game, then minimize the game while it is running and re-enable the controller.

These are my instructions that I have written down:
open Device Manager
expand Human Interface Devices
right click and disable controller (HID-compliant game controller)
start game
minimize game and enable the contrller again in device manager
can now use xpadder

Edit: I don't remember if I tried, but you may be able to unplug the controller, launch the game, and then plug the controller back in while the game is already running. If the game only looks for a controller when you first launch the game, it might not detect it if you plug it in while the game is already running. I would think that would do the same thing as disabling it in device manager like I wrote above.

Thanks for the detailed procedure. I messed up with my HID settings a few months ago to try and run Star Wars Pod Racer on Steam and all I ended up with was more headache. This seems to fix it.

Thanks for the help :D

I already fixed issue with steam mapping (since it already looks like same as xpadder)

Its just left/right is way too sharp. I will try to fix that.

I didn't even know that Steam had a controller mapping feature, I will have to check it out some day. Not sure about the steering sensitivity, but good luck :)

Definitely check it, from what i see it is pretty easy to use and automatically block gamepad (unlike xpadder)

Yeah, it's a screenshot where I died after getting over 3 hours in a single run. It's an extremely simple game with not much to do. I mainly just played it to waste some time listening to the music because I like the music and visual style. It wasn't a bad experience, just kind of pointless.

The mechanics of the game are really simple and can be exploited if you want to. I talked about it here if you are interested.

Edit: It looks like there's achievements now. They didn't exist when I played it a year ago.

Well, i had the game before but only played few mins and bored.

I wanted to play the game now because of achievments (the letters looks good :) then i wanted to complete all achievments but looks like playing for 90 min is impossible for me. I played for 15 and already felt like i wasted half of my life... Looks like not my style :)

Yeah, it's a pretty pointless game unless you have nothing better to do and want to listen to the music. I don't care about achievements, so I don't have any plans to play it again :)

I am almost addicted to this achievment thing but trying to leave for a while. I will just open the game in background for 3 hours to letters, and i will delete it.

Thanks for the help again and have a good day/night :)
