Which do you find more annoying in steam forum discussions?

I think the situation 2 is worse.

All of us, SG users, think that the 2nd situation is worse! =D
But I voted for the 1st one, because to me, any opinion is better than any meaningless information.

honestly... I do my best to not give a fuck xD
I mean there are a lot of people who like to be the "alternative" of the situation, better ignore them.

I sincerely hate most treads in the forums.
Most of the time, it's whiners, people who say the game is rubbish because it doesn't work on their computer, those who post spoilers without hiding them, but most of all I despise with all my heart those whose only reply is "git gud".
The only threads I like are those where improvements are being discussed with the devs or where users politely ask for help. I think that's pretty much it.

I don't get lost in the echo chamber

This isn't really related to just Steam forum, but one thing that annoys me is when I'm looking for a solution to a problem and I find a thread where someone has exactly the same problem as I have. The replies in the thread were not able to help with the situation, but then the OP writes "It's okay, I got it working" and is never seen in the thread again. Ever! I would have really appreciated to see what the solution was...

I dunno why I still bother, but when I go to CS:GO forums, any discussion is just drowned by a dozen of newly created "I no hack, pls unban"

i don't even read the steam forums anymore, too much trash there.

Situation 2 but I usually don't care. The worst are just trolls that happen to appear in approx. every game forum to insult others or talk trash.

I don't really mind/have strong feelings about either scenario, but that's mainly because I'm a passive user of the steam forums. So I'll only be on there when I'm searching for some specific info and I'll never have to interact with them.

Just two of the reasons why I don't read the Steam forums.

I haven't seen useful or entaining steam forum discussions besides bug reports for early access, so I tend to avoid them. The second situation is more annoying, things like that are why I ignore most forums about anything technology related, they just turn into giant flame wars over what subjective opinion is objectively better while ignoring actual objective facts.

Out of those, situation #1 is the most annoying.
Q: Help me! Game runs like crap on my potato PC! A: Game runs great on my $9000+ NASA-like PC, get 1 for yourself too!
And that's why I'm not particularly fond of review sites...
But there are equally bad (or outright worse) cases:

• Steam Gifts group - autojoin-script users ranting about their "unfair" bans;
• any trade subforum - greedy people asking for 2:1 trades (or worse), or 1:1 + something
• also in trade subforums - people ignoring the value of gems;
• I'm bored already, so I'll stop it here.

Sadly, no positive IQ test is required to post on the internet, soooo... :)

I think Situation 2 is worse. A similar situation I was that someone was saying Valiant Hearts was bad because it had Uplay, and I was stupid and jumped in (because it's a pretty good game imo) to say that he was wrong, and he just decided to ignore me and keep arguing and whatnot (I seem to argue with a lot of people like that).
