Maybe I'm not meant to be a detective.. I should have listened to my english teacher when she kept telling me I was not good at understanding english and became some kind of labourer instead..
What am I going to do with these letters now? Hopefully an alien will abduce me so I can gift 'em to him..

I recovered enough from puzzle fatigue to come back to this as well... :)
I still don't get it...I'm 99% sure I have all 5 characters right (one of them is a little unclear, especially if I look closely, and I didn't use your hinted technique for the dog but my approach showed a very clear character so I'm pretty sure it's right), but there's no order that works. I tried every possible interpretation of "story order", and even every possible order altogether (yes that thing you hate), and I tried a few variants of some of the letters in case I just wasn't seeing them right...no clue what I'm doing wrong.

I'm not sure I understand the last hint, if it's relevant to figuring out the code, but otherwise yes. The first two confirmed what I had already guessed about where to find them, and the third one helped me find the letters themselves. I have 5 letters/numbers, and the animals I got them from matched the story. The turtle was a little hard to read, but if I don't look too closely it seems pretty obvious. A used a different approach for the big dog than your hint suggests, as nothing I tried with that seemed to work, but a letter showed up very clearly with my approach, so I'm pretty sure I found the right thing.

Hello steamgifters.
I bring some bad news again :/ I have been robbed by a group of wild animals called The Pokémon. These criminals attacked me while I was going to make a train for all of you.
How that happened? Well, first 2 dogs, a small one and a big one, appeared and started to pursue me, trying to bite me with their thunder fangs, scary! I had to jump into a nearby pond. But then, and I am ashamed of it, a blowfish and a turtle tried to poison me. I swam as fast as I could, and luckily that turtle wa reaaally slow. But the blowfish managed to jab me, poisoning me. I could go out of the pond, totally soaked and with a great swelling in my right leg. I limped and sat on the ground with my back against a tree, thinking I was already safe, but suddenly a giant insect appeared and, with a quick attack, it knocked me out :( When I woke up I realized I had been stolen 5 letters.
Help me to find them! I heard they have their secret base where the counting never ends! (they are all "in consecutive numbers", you don't have to search too much)
Level 2+. The train leaves in 3 days.
