They COULD'VE taken the opportunity and port it to the UE4 engine to make everything look nice but instead, they kept it on the UE3 engine and the "Remastered" graphics are a joke.

I guess it's only free right now so they can reply to any complaint later on like "Well we did offer it for free once, so why didn't you grab it then?"

Also, regarding the Epic Launcher - how come Epic thinks another DRM software is needed other than Steam?

It sounds like it's also only free for a limited time, meaning we won't be able to play it after the holidays. So it's not a permanent copy for us.

"Also, regarding the Epic Launcher - how come Epic thinks another DRM software is needed other than Steam?" well EA, Uplay, Rockstar, Codemasters, GMG, Blizzard, Desura, itch all think that steam is the holy answer to their "problem" so Epic aren't alone & I'm sure all of them have others reasons to than just the money aspect but is the big one really though for the CEOs

Do you know if you can install the Epic Launcher on a different drive than the games you install with it like steam or is like Desura where everything has to all go together on the same drive?

Well I'm sure it all came down to a bottom line business decision. But still, I don't mind too much that it's on the Unreal 3 engine really...I do actually like the gameplay quite a lot and the graphics are acceptable I think...it has kind of an old-school feel to it and it should look even better if run with the SweetfX plugin :-)

Never heard of this plugin before. Tried to google it but did not find much. What games are supported?

Remaster =/= Remake

What do you think remastered means? Building from the ground up?

Game's as I remember from 5 years ago on the Xbox 360. Just with improved texture work, and decent keyboard & mouse controls for those who don't have a controller.

Installing yet another publisher client is ..eh.. every company seems to be doing that nowadays. Epic are still focussing on online multiplayer games though, and they're building their own mod distribution platform with the intent of designing and implementing proper support for paid mods instead of half-assing it like Valve & Bethesda tried. Wether they'll succeed, time will tell, but at least the business model behind the new Unreal Tournament depends on that.

Speaking of new UT, the extra launcher did remind me that I still had to take that for a spin. Initial impressions are pretty good.
