I'd be happy with Prototype. I've always wanted to try these games out but never got around to it. Got everything else in the monthlies though.

is there any advantage to getting it sooner rather than latter?

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, the BTA Tier changes it's price. Usually the lowest price you can get is within the first 30 Minutes after the bundle launches. So it's best to check the bundle at the beginning and to refresh the page often (I usually use 2 browser tabs - one with the actual lowest price and one to refresh). Sometimes the difference is only a few cents, but sometimes the price goes up $5.00 or even more.

Four monthly repeats while also continuing to use their aggressive tactics to make you subscribe to the monthly.

Fuck off, IGN.

Unless something is really high on my list and I feel confident that it is unlikely to get rebundled soon then I won't bite on the Monthly bundles. Too many of the games get recycled later for less. For me, the value proposition just isn't there and it's not worth it. Got burned before and it's not going to happen again.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah I seen that and the issue for me for the early unlock I already own what is giving (ESO) the rest are I believe just bonus cash for a free to play game that I have no interest in playing - not gonna take a gamble that I get a game that I might enjoy for paying 12$, so far I only bought one monthly and it was because the early unlocked (stellaris) was something that I was interested in.

edit: if a game does release that I might like/enjoy I could just hope to get lucky and win it here, or trade for it.

The odds that IGN, which bought HB two and a half weeks ago, has been changing anything of any significance at this point is dubious. Bundles are likely planned at least a week in advance if not significantly more. I keep seeing unironic IGN comments.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is likely more than just 2 weeks.

I suspect the recent bundles are a way to "clean" inventory before the year ends -- just like retail stores at the end of the season.

Sadly, while they seem nice games, nothing screams "get me!"

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

IGN announced that they settled the takeover of Humble two weeks ago. It wasn't just some overnight shopping trip at Companies 'R Us. These things usually take months from the legal side.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Exactly. Funny how they understand that bundles are likely planned way in advance yet they can't see that an acquisition probably is as well. Can't think of the term right now, but that's like "selective omission" or something. How convenient. I'm not saying that the recent change where they are incentivizing active Humble Monthly subscriptions in these other bundles is necessarily as a result of the IGN acquisition (maybe Humble already had it planned anyway), but without being an insider with intimate knowledge we don't know that it isn't either, and it certainly is noteworthy and eyebrow-raising.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not like they start telling what to do with bundles during the acquisition planning either.

HB always heavily promoted their monthlies since the start, like skipping normal ones multiple weeks in a row and so on.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, but once the acquisition was finally formalized a couple of week is more than enough time to make a change on something if they wanted to. No way to know either way....

HB always heavily promoted their monthlies since the start, like skipping normal ones multiple weeks in a row and so on

Oh please. Here you are trying to denounce any suggestion that IGN could have any involvement in making an early change (despite my neutral stance on it) and yet at the same time you inject the same old tired frivolous conspiracy theory that has been debunked numerous times in the past (and which might as well be a meme at this point). Whenever there was no regular bundle leading up to the Monthly some people would resort to irrational sensationalism with absolutely no basis for it, but then when there was a bundle or two just prior to the Monthly no one would say a damn word or talk about that fact. Some people here suffer from really selective memory. As is often the case with things that are either of a newsworthy and/or controversial nature, the ones that are perceived as negative tend to get the lion's share of publicity.

Whenever there was no regular bundle leading up to the Monthly

It's not about leading up to the Monthly, but they clearly used the games they could secure to fill the monthlies first and subsequently skip regulars if not enough more came together.

Without monthlies there would have been less skips and more unbundled titles in regular ones. That is a simple consequence and not a conspiracy theory lol

What an interesting flourish you write with.

They (I) understand that the lead-time would be considerable in an acquisition of a company, and, while we can't pretend to know with certainty what those negotiations involved, we can still use logic to make reasonable assumptions and it is such a reasonable proposition to assume that negotiations probably didn't involve specific, immediate changes to the bundles. I can't think of any reasonable explanation for why that would happen. Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? No. I don't think this is a Schroedinger's dilemma.

My original post was directed at all the IGN complaints spread across the different forums here that basically assert something to the effect of anything undesirable about the last two bundles somehow being IGN. Expressed with certainty and no irony.

With all that said, I have zero invested in this argument. You seem to feel strongly about it and that's cool too.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This. I understand that it's not retail shopping, clearly. But it seems highly unlikely that part of the acquisition talks were determining small changes to bundles in the preliminary weeks. Granted, I work in the public sector, not private, so I can't speak to this directly, but in any organization of even middling size, it seems far-fetched.

''The Royal Edition includes the original Kingdom soundtrack plus 9 brand new tracks for New Lands, composed once again by the talented ToyTree''
Kingdom Classic and Kingdom New Lands are the same, if you go to Kingdom Classic store page they only allow you to buy ''Kingdom New Lands''.

Royal edition includes the OST/Soundtrack.
I have the ''OST DLC', but my game is from the Humble Monthly, where was marked as ''Royal Edition''.
So, i suppose this edition doesn't include OST.
Like djmac and oginer said, they are 2 ''different'' games.
